Free-to-play Battle Royale game Apex Legends pits players against each other in the Apex Games, with the winning team being named Apex Champions. The launch of Season 9 broke the game’s record for the number of gamers playing the game at once on a single platform.
Before players enter the game with their team, they are allowed to choose the character they want to play as. Some are suited to tactical gamers whilst others are suited to players that like to go in guns blazing. One such character was introduced in Season 8: Fuse. His cheeky and confident attitude has quickly made him a fan favorite, which put him in the firing line for being made into a meme.
10 Fuse Likes Presents
Fuse, also known as Walter Fitzroy, is one of the more charismatic legends in the game. He even gives Mirage a good run for his money. The personality that so many fans have come to love over the previous season is often seen in Fuse’s voice lines. In the game, characters have voice lines that are triggered when you do certain things.
The more commonly heard ones are responses to other teammates using the ping system to communicate with the player. Voice lines really stand out for many fans of Fuse. For this Redditor, it’s one of his responses to putting ‘‘dibs’’ on a piece of loot. Dibs are where a player can let their other team members know that they have seen the loot that they have highlighted and they need it.
9 Finishers Feel So Good
In the Season 9 launch trailer, Fuse can be seen having a rest in the middle of the Apex Games and drinking a beer. This typical Fuse behavior lent itself to a meme regarding a different aspect of the game. Apex packs are a trio of rewards that gamers can earn through leveling up. Gaining a pack as a reward for leveling up is more common for players who purchase the Battle Pass for that season.
However, all players know the feeling when they gain a very rare reward. Finishers are a type of action that players can do in the game. They are little animations that characters do when they are eliminating a downed enemy. Each Legend has one finisher unlocked to start with and it is rare for many players to win one from a pack. Therefore, Fuse’s surprised expression accurately sums up how all gamers feel if they get one.
8 Fuse Vs Kings Canyon
Technically it was not Fuse who destroyed parts of Kings Canyon at the start of Season 8. It was his former childhood best friend Mad Maggie who subsequently caused chaos throughout that season. When Fuse arrived at Kings Canyon to start his first Apex Games, Maggie took over his ship and fired heavy missiles onto the crowd.
To some fans’ horror, this altered the Kings Canyon map again. It was not the first time Kings Canyon had drastic changes made to it. As summed up by Instagram user unpopular_gamemes, the map had undergone several changes before due to other Legends.
7 Ouch
Fuse has a mechanical arm, which makes fans theorize that he has a painful punch. As many gamers and non-gamers know, the past year or so has not been the best, and Twitter user @RECXNCY decided to use Fuse to add some humor to the fact life has been tricky lately. Many fans of the game agree that one of the best elements of Apex is its ability to be silly as well as serious.
There are Legends that are quite serious for the gamers who want that from the game. There are also Legends who are less serious and have a humorous side for the players who don’t mind a few jokes. Fuse is definitely the latter as many fans are constantly being caught off guard by his quips and little remarks. One of these is when a gamer using Fuse responds to a teammate saying thank you for reviving them, Fuse reacts with ‘‘Alright mate, don’t have a cry over it’’.
6 Despicable Fuse
Fuse has a distinctive style to him that is different to the younger Legends. His style is much more haphazard and his outfit looks like it has seen better days. This could be because the planet he is from, Salvo, spent years run by different Warlords who reveled in causing mayhem. It was not a planet where inhabitants lived glamorous lives.
Fans such as this Instagrammer have noticed a few similarities between Fuse and a well-known children’s film villain. The chaotic energy of the film villain does seem to perfectly match the energy of Fuse. After all, he is rarely a guy with a plan and often does as he feels.
5 Fuse Is Brave
Many long-time fans of the game know that Caustic (one of the earlier Legends) is not someone to mess with. Therefore, it takes a very brave character to go near Caustic, let alone give him a gentle tap. In the Season 8 launch trailer, that is precisely what Fuse did.
After watching Maggie destroy his ship and a good portion of Kings Canyon, Fuse was seen teaming up with Caustic and Bloodhound. He took his life in his hands when he tapped Caustic, which earned him a distinct glare from the scientist. This moment had many fans agree that Fuse is a brave guy.
4 Oh No … Anyway
All of the Legends in the game have three abilities that are unique to them. Ultimate abilities take the longest to charge for each Legend but are typically the ability that causes the most damage to other teams. However, the effectiveness of the ultimates is determined by how skillfully they are used. Often they can be counteracted by the abilities of other Legends.
This is true of Fuse’s ultimate ability, which is called The Motherlode. This creates a large circle around the targeted area with a wall of flames. However, players such as this Redditor know that Horizon can easily get away from this by using her tactical ability. She has a Gravity Lift that can easily carry her and other team members out of the circle without being damaged.
3 Bombs Away
In Apex, sometimes the only way forward is to panic and fire everything at enemies. It can be easy in Apex for players to find themselves stuck in sticky situations with no obvious way out. The meme on this Twitter account is a brilliant representation of how many fans try to survive against the odds with Fuse.
Some fans believe Fuse has one of the best passive abilities. His passive allows him to hold more Grenades than other Legends, which can be a massive help when gamers have the odds stacked against them and their only option is to panic fire. Ironically, this does suit Fuse too, as the developers even describe him as being a “blow-up first, think later” kind of guy.
2 He Can
Even though she does have the ability to evade his ultimate, it does not mean that it is impossible for Fuse to defeat Horizon. The earlier Legends do have more basic abilities compared to the newer additions, which is why the meme by this Instagrammer has a lot of truth to it.
When Horizon was introduced in Season 7, her abilities were unlike that of any Legend before her and did make fighting against her difficult. However, there was hope for fans when Fuse was introduced. He does have more basic abilities but they are arguably stronger.
1 A Scratch
When Fuse announced that he was leaving his planet to join the Apex games, his former best friend was not happy. One of the things players learned from the game comics for Season 8 was that Mad Maggie blew his arm off with a grenade they found as children. The meme by this Twitter user is not far off from his actual reaction to losing his arm.
As seen in the Stories From The Outlands Trailer for Fuse, he simply walks away after losing his arm. He even asks Maggie to throw his arm away for him. This shows how tough Fuse is.
