Secret areas give you extra information about the game, more missions, free weapons, or fun Easter eggs. You can’t say you’ve completed a game if you haven’t discovered all the details that the developers hide in the most unexpected places.
No matter if you are on campaign mode, zombie, or multiplayer, the game has some secret areas that players might have missed out on, lets dive in and see all the secrets Call of Duty: Cold War keeps.
10 The Secret Door In The Safe House
This campaign has a secret door hidden inside of a safe house. This secret place can only be unlocked by using the combination 11-22-63. If you know something about American history, you will instantly get that this is a reference to the date John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to find three documents: the Warren Commission Report, the Dallas News Article, and the Clinical Report. Each of these documents contains the numbers you need to unlock this secret door.
9 The Electronic Store
Remember when arcades were a thing, and you used to go to the arcade with your friends? Well, inside the safe house, you’ll find a place that will take you back to that good old times.
During the mission Brick on the Wall, you can enter the electronic store area. There you’ll find an old arcade cabinet inside the office. The machine comes with the game Enduro, an old Activision racing game. This is not the only arcade you’ll find in the game as there are 10 in all the campaign mode; try to find them all!
8 Secret Zombie Cave
In the mission, Break On Through, Adler will be guiding you throughout the game. At one point on the route, he will tell you to turn right. However, if you decide to go in the opposite direction, you’ll get two surprises. First, on top of a cliff, there is an arcade cabinet with Boxing the game; you can play it if you want.
Now, everything becomes more interesting once you jump off the cliff. Upon landing, you will see a statue of Vladimir Lenin, something peculiar but not very exciting. Below you will see a trap door. If you decide to open it, things will become a little more dangerous. Once you go down the ladder, you will reach a cave full of zombies, grab your weapons and slay them all.
7 Galaxy Room Dark Arcade
In the multiplayer map The Pines, you can see an arcade room with all kinds of video games and machines. One of the most interesting facts about this place is an Easter egg of an old map in the zombies’ mode.
If you approach the pinball machines, you’ll see that there is one with the theme of Der Eisendrach, one of the maps of Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 zombies. The machine comes with a comic that is the same loading screen as the old game had, and it’s detailed.
6 Bobby, The Burger Town Mascot
In the mission Red Light Green Light, you’ll find a relatively peculiar character. Meet Bobby, the Burger Town mascot, an apparent reference to the fast-food restaurant Burger King.
Make Bobby talk, and he will start saying a lot of funny phrases like “Would you like to super-duper size them?” or “Perfect, one heart attack coming right up.” After repeatedly pressing the red button, Bob “drops” a grenade launcher. Consider this your happy meal toy.
5 Doritos Logo
When playing the mission Green Light Red light, you will not only get a parody of a fast-food franchise, but you will get a retro advertisement for a snack that you’ve probably eaten before.
A little further back from Burger World, you will see a Doritos Sign. However, you might not recognize it at first because it is the 80’s version logo of this snack. As a bonus fact, Activision made alliances with Doritos and Mountain Dew for this game launch.
4 Menendez’s house
Many will remember Menendez for being the boss in Black Ops 2, who also had an appearance in Black Ops 4. However, this character does not appear in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but has a great reference to one of the multiplayer maps.
In the Cartel map, a house on the corner is referred to as Menendez’s house. Going inside, you’ll see a photo of his family and a picture of the evil man himself.
3 Dancing Zombies Zone
Dancing Zombies? What is this? A reference to Michael Jackson? It’s a reference to a meme.
When playing zombie mode, you’ll notice that the map has orbs hidden everywhere; once you destroy them all, you’ll be teleported to the Dark Ether, a place where the zombies don’t want to eat you. In reality, they are having a good time. When you arrive at this place, you will see a group of zombies carrying a coffin and dancing, an apparent reference to the meme of the group Dancing Pallbearers.
2 A + J
In the mission Brick On The Wall, we got a pretty mysterious location. Once you go down the stairs, you find a wall that has an inscription written in blood. A heart and the letters A + J and the name Anika.
This Easter Egg leaves many players scratching their heads, although one of the theories that fans handle is that one of the game’s developers is called Anika, and A + J may reference their loved ones.
1 Free Gun Locker
In the snow mission, you’ll get a location that already appeared in Black Ops 1. In this mission with Frank Woods, you will see a corpse. Once you check it out, red numbers will appear on your screen, making a reference to the Mason numbers from Black Ops 1.
In one of the rooms, you’ll get a key. With this, you can open a locker that keeps a Magnum annihilator, the same from Black Ops 3. This powerful gun can kill enemies with one shot.
