Skins have become a mainstay for almost all competitive online arena games. These cosmetics allow players to show off their own personal tastes, dedication to the game, and involvement in special events. Smite has a huge range of customization options ranging from player icons and loading screen frames to in-game effects like a return to fountain animation.

God skins, however, are the most popular way for players to personalize their Smite experience. Some skins can be unlocked with favor (which is earned by playing the game), or gems (which can be purchased with money or obtained through some in-game challenges). In some cases though, certain skins are only available in loot boxes or through special events - those are the skins for players who love to grind for rewards and show off their hard work.

10 Thanatos -Demonic

Although he is already arguably one of the more terrifying-looking gods with his standard skin, Thanatos’ Demonic skin trades out the black and silver color palette for an epic gold and black with some red highlights.

On top of that, his deathly mask is gone and instead, we can see his devilish face adorned with two massive horns protruding from each brow. His scythe also gets reskinned with the new color palette and doubles in size! This skin can be unlocked for a staggering 8000 gems (worth $99.99). That’s a great way to show off serious dedication (or the depth of someone’s wallet if they’re so inclined).

9 Chang’e - Intergalactic

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Chang’e, the Chinese goddess of the moon appeared? The Intergalactic skin, obviously inspired by Star Wars (specifically, princess Leia and R2-D2), is perfect for any Star Wars fan. Or at least, it was!

Unfortunately, this skin is no longer available, and, although it is still in the list of skins for Chang’e, the game displays a message explaining that it will “never be available through special promotions or events again”. If players were lucky enough to grab this one while it was available, congratulations!

8 Bakasura - Feaster Bunny

Seeing the terrifying “great devourer” from Hindu origins, Bakasura, depicted as an Easter bunny might sound harmless enough. But what emerges from his green hoodie is the stuff of nightmares.

The four-eyed, tentacled, giant-mouthed beast known as the Feaster Bunny will send shivers down anyone’s spine. This skin is currently available in the odyssey chests, although so are 897 other cosmetic items, so players might need to unlock a few before they get what you’re after.

7 Amaterasu - Vampiress

Surprisingly, the Japanese goddess of the sun, Amaterasu pulls off an amazing Vampire look with her Vampiress skin. Amaterasu trades out her Japanese robes for an elegant-looking corset giving off very Victorian vibes. Her glowing red eyes, surrounded with black, top off a classic vampire look.

Since vampires and the sun don’t generally get along, this was an interesting choice. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic-looking skin and can be unlocked only during Halloween events.

6 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Okay, so this is more than one skin - but they’re all so great! This official crossover with Nickelodeon is nostalgia gold for anyone who loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a child (or still does). All four turtles are currently available in Smite’s premium battle pass.

The gods they can be equipped to are as follows; Leonardo for Osiris, Michaelangelo for Mercury, Raphael for Loki, and Donatello for Sun Wukong. It’s also worth noting that a Master Splinter skin for Hachiman and a Shredder skin for Ravana can be unlocked from Radical Chests, too.

5 Ra - Ra’merica

If any Americans are ever feeling patriotic, then it could be time to break out the Ra’merica skin. Switching his golden robes for red, white, and blue, and grabbing the largest firework he could find, this bald eagle version of Ra screams “America!”

Well, not literally - although he does have a matching voice pack with a very American accent. As pointed out by Redditor u/Lionkun, this skin was originally released as a fundraiser for the Red Cross and will likely come around every 4th of July.

4 Jormungandr - World Kitty

The internet and video games can’t get enough of cats - so why would Smite players not want the World Kitty skin? It turns the terrifying, giant Norse serpent Jormungandr into a loveable, long kitty. Instead of his usual toxic-looking attack effects, he emanates rainbows and clouds.

The best part about this skin is that it’s available as a direct unlock. Although at 750 gems, it might take a while to earn enough if players don’t want to break out a credit card.

3 Bellona - Rock-a-Bellona

Nearing the top of the list is this 1950’s “Rosie the Riveter” inspired rockabilly, or “Rock-a-Bellona”, skin for the Roman goddess of war. With her denim shorts, tattoos, and tied-up flannel shirt, Bellona embodies the ‘We Can Do It" mentality while she vanquishes her foes. Her weapons also get a 50’s makeover, looking like they were crafted from parts of cars from that era.

First appearing in 2016, this skin is currently available in odyssey chests (with terrible odds), but with any luck, it could show up in future events as a direct unlock.

2 Fenrir - Chompy Chibi

How could anyone go past this super-cute skin for the otherwise terrifying Fenrir - legendary Norse wolf-beast? One of the reasons this is ranked so highly is, aside from the cuteness, the attention to detail and ties to Norse lore. For 1000 gems, this is an expensive skin.

In his portrait, Fenrir is chomping away at a sock puppet that belongs to Tyr’s “Sock Puppetyr” skin. In Fenrir’s lore, it is said that he ate Tyr’s hand, so that’s a very clever easter-egg for keen-eyed fans. It can be unlocked through an odyssey chest for 200 gems but has a lower drop rate.

1 Serqet - Dread Queen

The number-one spot goes to Serqet and her Xenomorph-esque Dread Queen skin. Right out of the 1979 film Alien, this skin fits Serqet perfectly as the goddess of venom. Besides looking badass and terrifying, Serqet’s skillset involves using poison to take down her foes - similar to a Xenomorph’s flesh-melting, acidic blood!

Like some others in this list, this is an exclusive skin that only shows up during special events. Although it is featured in odyssey chests, the chances of landing it aren’t in a player’s favor. It might be worth saving up gems in case it comes up for a direct unlock option.
