Some of the famous celebrities in Hollywood right now tend to have their start on Disney Channel. They have made a name for themselves and will always have a place in our hearts for providing our childhoods with great memories and fantastic shows or movies to boot. If it weren’t for Disney Channel, how would we know famous people like the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus? Even if you are not a fan of the shows, there is no denying that Disney Channel made the stars famous even after they left.

There are friendships that have been made thanks to the network. Some are extremely heartwarming and have been going strong for a very long time. If you think of a certain name from Disney Channel, sometimes you can associate them with someone they have worked with and be the best of friends.

However, there are some Disney stars who just can’t seem to get along. The reasons might be due to some drama around romance or the fact that the two just don’t work out well together. There is a rare occurrence where two people are enemies, and sometimes they are at each other’s throats or be hanging out at an awards show with nothing but hugs and smiles. It is sometimes hard to believe what we see since the actors would do so well if they are on screen together.

Here are ten Disney Channel stars who are the best of friends and ten who are definitely not.

20 BFFs: Olivia And Leo

Is it strange for a guy and girl to just be friends despite their amazing chemistry that can lead to romance? Most definitely not, since these two are adorable as friends that it makes us smile whenever we see them together. First off, we have Olivia Holt and Leo Howard, who both appeared on the Disney XD show Kickin’ It! Both of them have done other works like Olivia appearing in I Didn’t Do It and the original movie Girl vs. Monster. Leo appeared on Shake It Up!, PrankStars, and Lab Rats: Bionic Island.

Their chemistry from the show they appeared in together just shows how much fun they have together. Even after Kickin’ It! ended, the two still have time to hang out and be able to have fun while not working on other film projects. In her music video “History,” Olivia actually called up Leo to play her ex-boyfriend, and he took up the offer without a second thought. If that is not friendship goals, we don’t know what is.

Leo and Olivia show us that friendship is sometimes better than a romantic relationship. These two work out so well that it is too early for them to move on from each other.

19 Not BFFs: Dylan And Joe

In the 2000s, there were two sets of siblings that caught our attention due to their times on Disney Channel. One is Sprouse, which involves two twins named Dylan and Cole, who starred in the hit series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The other last name is Jonas, and if that name does not ring a bell, you are probably living under a rock. Nick, Joe, and Kevin became a band named Jonas Brothers and they were incredibly popular. They would even get their own sitcom called Jonas. Since this is referring to one of each, how did they end up becoming distant towards each other?

Joe wrote an essay about how he does some “stuff” and it revolves around being trapped as a huge Disney star. We can see where Joe is coming from since he is turning into an adult and cannot be a perfect doll that Disney Channel wants him to be.

In response to the essay, Dylan called out the Jonas brother.

From his Tumblr page (now deleted), Dylan responded to Joe’s essay, “I think it’s bulls–t that they were being robbed of choice or creativity. If they wanted to, they could have told Disney ‘NO.’ Cole and I did this hundreds of times and we ended up all right.” In Dylan’s defense, he has a great point. Joe and his brothers could have avoided the stress of being a Disney Channel star. Sometimes having different opinions can lead to some bitter rivalries.

18 BFFs: Dove And Cameron

Who would have thought that two people with a similar name could end up being such great friends? Dove Cameron and Cameron Boyce both appeared in the very popular Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants and its sequel. Also, there will be a third Descendants movie coming soon, so that means more of them working on screen together! Dove has been in a few roles from Disney Channel, such as Liv and Maddie and Austin & Ally. Cameron also had a number of roles on the network with being in shows such as Shake It Up!, Good Luck Charlie, and Jessie.

Similar to Olivia and Leo, Dove and Cameron have great chemistry without having to succumb to being in a romantic relationship together.

If their social media accounts such as Twitter and Instagram can let them be affectionate platonically, then that is something we can admire. One of those instances was when Dove posted a heartfelt Instagram post of her and Cameron, wishing him a happy birthday. Not only is that very sweet, but that is also being an incredible friend. Even if these two will end up doing other projects that will drive them away, they will always each other as great friends who formed such amazing chemistry.

17 Not BFFs: Selena And Jake

As these two’s show’s song goes, “Everything is not what it seems.” Selena Gomez got her start in Barney & Friends, and many years later, she would star in her own Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place. One of her costars is Jake T. Austin, who voiced Dora’s cousin Diego, who would have his own show called Go, Diego, Go! from Nickelodeon. Together, these two played wizard siblings who run a sandwich shop with their parents and older brother Justin.

We all know Selena Gomez is a huge superstar with her successful music career and occasional acting, while Jake T. Austin is doing his own thing in the popular drama series The Fosters. Since these costars acted as siblings, you’d expect them to get along offscreen right? Apparently not, unfortunately.

Jake threw shade at Selena for taking on more adult roles, such as the movie she starred in called Spring Breakers. He tweeted out, “When an artists’ definition of ‘growing with their fans’ is creating content they aren’t even allowed to see…” What he is getting at here is how Selena gained a huge fanbase around young kids, and just seeing her getting involved in roles like Spring Breakers is unexpected and unfitting. But hey, actors have to grow up, and that is what Selena did.

However, they are not in bad blood for, as Jake paid a sweet tribute to Selena on Instagram after she got her kidney transplant. So in the end, they are still family.

16 BFFs: Ben And Rider

The 90s were a fantastic time to be a Disney fan. While Boy Meets World appeared on ABC, Disney does own the property rights to the network and one of these actors did work for Disney Channel thanks to the spin-off Girl Meets World. Anyway, Boy Meets World is a wonderful and memorable sitcom that managed to get us in the feels with laughter and tears. The characters and the actors that played them share very strong chemistry, and it still holds up to this day.

Ben Savage and Rider Strong are just the purest.

Their characters Cory and Shawn have been friends for as long as they can remember, and just watching them on-screen is one of the best moments in the show. Even when Boy Meets World ended, it didn’t stop these two from hanging out once in a while. When Disney Channel eventually picked up Girl Meets World, both Ben and Rider managed to get involved and put in a lot of effort just like they did in the first show.

While Ben would be the father of Riley, the main character in Girl Meets World, Rider would make appearances in the show while also directing a couple of episodes during the first season. As if Girl Meets World will be picked up by another network, we don’t know, but hopefully, it will be.

15 Not BFFs: Ashley And Lucas

Trust us, this won’t be the first time you will be seeing High School Musical costars appearing on here. The first duo coming from the cultural phenomenon High School Musical series is Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel. These two perform as the Evans siblings who were born to perform on stage and seeing them sing and dance together shows that quite well.

If you are a great actor or actress, then you know how to play pretend to where it actually looks real. That said, Ashley and Lucas might have looked like they get along, they actually never did while shooting the High School Musical movies. These two just couldn’t stand each other, and you bet that it was a blessing when High School Musical 3 finally wrapped up, Ashley and Lucas would not have to deal with each other again.

We do have some good news though: the used to hate each other! Since it has been over a decade, these two have been nothing but close friends. Crazy, right? Who would have believed that these two despised each other while filming one of the most successful franchises in Disney, and now they are on good terms! To add the cherry on top, they reunited to sing one of the movie’s songs “What I’ve Been Looking For.” Now that’s how you rekindle over the years!

14 BFFs: Selena And David

How crazy is it that Selena can be on good terms with one on-screen brother, but not the other? Well, at least for a little while until Selena had to have surgery for her kidney transplant. Unlike Selena and Jake, the one onscreen sibling that she always had a great friendship with is David Henrie, who played the eldest sibling Justin in Wizards of Waverly Place. Their characters are so opposite that it makes their interactions hilarious, but in the end, they do care for each other as siblings should do.

So, in real life, these two are simply amazing friends.

When David got married to his wife Maria, Selena was one of the guests that attended, and just like that, we had a very nice reunion between the two. Even the rest of the main cast attended, making the reunion ten times better! Also, when Instagram implemented the story setting, Selena used that to show her fans that she had a reunion with David. While Selena is busy with her music, we can bet that David will always be her supporter in any shape or form. Just like in the show, these two have shown amazing chemistry that will last for a long time.

13 Not BFFs: Zendaya And Bella

Ah, yes. The infamous duo who are known for not getting along. Bella Thorne and Zendaya costarred in Disney Channel’s sitcom Shake It Up!, where they played two girls who become background dancers on a show, and they struggle with their rising social status while attending high school. Once the show ended, the two girls end up having their own successful careers with Bella currently starring in the Freeform series Famous in Love and Zendaya appearing in films like Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Greatest Showman.

Now, this is very tricky, because we all see and hear rumors about these two. Some say that these ladies cannot stand each other, while some stated that they are great friends. In a way, they have not gotten along, but that was actually Disney’s fault. They didn’t even start out as friends, and Bella even mentioned that she was forced to compete with Zendaya. She told J-14, “Zendaya and I were put in a very unfortunate position where we were kind of forced to compete against each other, which made the whole first season of the show just very awkward for us.”

So, do you want to know something that will make you feel better? Bella and Zendaya never really hated each other!

12 BFFs: Zendaya And Bella

As it turns out, Zendaya and Bella are incredibly great friends! Even though the two had a rocky start when filming Shake It Up!, they would eventually grow closer and form one of the cutest friendships ever. After all, what kind of “enemy” would appear at a friend’s movie premiere, birthday party, and all that fun stuff? To show how these two are awesome friends, Bella would slam people for trying to compare her to Zendaya in any way possible. In this instance from Seventeen Latin’s tweet, Bella was getting compared to Zendaya on whoever was wearing red lipstick the best, and can we say that it really doesn’t matter?

The media will do anything to make people believe that these two are forever enemies.

What matters is that the Shake It Up! costars are great friends and nothing will change that. It is unfair how these ladies have to deal with people, even their fans, pitting them against each other like the whole world depends on it. It is not a contest since both women are gorgeous in their own way and no matter what, they will always be supportive of each other. May Bella and Zendaya’s friendship remain forever strong!

11 Not BFFs: Sprouse Twins And Selena

What is it with Selena not getting along with Disney Channel stars? Does she really have an unlikable trait that makes them tick or what? This time, we have both Sprouse twins on this entry. Selena has made numerous appearances on Disney Channel, and one of them includes being on an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. It also makes it awkward that Selena’s first kiss happened to be with Dylan since there was a kiss scene in the episode she appeared in.

So again, what is the deal with Selena?

Apparently, Dylan had a grudge with her ever since he was twelve, and he tweeted out, “Oh I get it Selena, too good to follow your ole’ pals, Dylan and Cole, huh? THIS IS JUST LIKE WHEN WE WERE 12 #neverforget.” Clearly, something that Selena did to Dylan and Cole was not so nice. We are really curious to know what happened, and it is kind of rude for Selena to leave the Sprouse twins out in the dust like that.

Either she has moved on from what has happened between them, or probably never saw the tweet since she is too busy with having to deal with her music career.

10 BFFs: Demi And Nick

You probably expected at least Joe and Demi, but they have dated eventually. So instead, we will be talking about Demi and her relationship with the younger Jonas brother Nick. While we were busy rooting her and Joe’s character in Camp Rock, Demi and Nick have one of the coolest and amazing friendships ever. Since Demi has dated Joe, she and Nick have been strictly platonic, and that sounds justifiable.

Due to their huge love for music, it’s no wonder that they would be recording and writing songs in the same studio. And when Demi was going through rehab, you bet that Nick was one of her supporters. Another bonus was that the two toured together from their expeditions called The Future Now Tour. It was a huge success for them and it has been awhile these two have been on tour together ever since Nick was with his brothers as a band.

Their close friendship also makes them act like brother and sister, so you could consider Demi to be an unofficial Jonas sister. Whatever these two end up doing together in the future, we hope it will be just as awesome as it was so many years ago.

9 Not BFFs: Miley And Emily

Honestly, seeing these two not being best friends forever makes our hearts hurt. Hannah Montana had some intensely loyal fans while there were some who despised it with a burning passion. In whatever perspective you are in, there was no doubt that Miley Cyrus and Emily Osment made their characters the best of friends, even when they do get into arguments that span a few episodes. Miley and Lilly were charming and went through thick and thin ever since Miley told Lily that she was Hannah Montana.

Even if Miley seemed to have it all when it comes to fame, it is unfortunate she could not obtain a stable friendship with her costar.

Miley’s autobiography, Miles to Go, stated about her and Emily’s relationship, “The show felt real to me, and I wanted my relationship with Lilly to feel real, too. I knew it didn’t have to — show business is show business — but I was disappointed. There were times when I didn’t think we could ever be friends. We just couldn’t figure out how to get along.”

Poor Miley. We can’t always have everything we wanted, but the important thing is that we try. At the very least, she is successful with her new music while Emily is still doing acting, so that is what you called the best of both worlds.

8 BFFs: Ashley And Vanessa

Another High School Musical duo, another awesome friendship. Vanessa Hudgens played the sweet and shy science geek Gabriella Montez while Ashley Tisdale portrayed the theater-loving Sharpay Evans. While the latter is a not necessarily a villain, there were at times where she was antagonistic towards Vanessa’s and Zac Efron’s character. Thankfully, these two lovely ladies are amazing friends.

Even though it has been a decade since High School Musical aired on Disney Channel, Ashley and Vanessa are still very close. They were even open to talking about their friendship when they appeared on the reality show called Inner Circle. The excitement does not stop there. Want to know an amazing fact?

When Ashley got married, Vanessa was one of her bridesmaids. That alone is just cute, having someone who is very close to you be there as your bridesmaid on one of the most important moments in your life. But wait, there is more! On Ashley’s YouTube channel, she even did a cover with Vanessa titled “Ex’s and Oh’s,” which is originally sung by Elle King. Not only did we get a small reunion, but having them sing together just brings us back to the days when High School Musical was what everyone was talking about.

7 Not BFFs: Selena And Miley

Here we go again, Selena not getting along with someone. Only this time, we have Miley to make this more special. Out of all the Disney Channel duos, these two are incredibly well-known for not getting along. Selena and Miley have appeared together on Hannah Montana, where the former played the rival Mikayla. In a surprising twist of events, the rivalry is too good to be true. If you can guess, what did these two girls have in common?

They both dated Nick Jonas.

Miley and Nick dated for a while and after the two broke up, it hit Miley really hard. Not too long after, Nick started dating Selena, and the burn was just too much. So how does Miley respond to the betrayal? She and her friend Mandy made a parody of Selena and Demi, eventually throwing shade at them. It was… rather hardcore at the time. It’s actually kind of scary how similar these two are to the characters they played from Hannah Montana.

It is safe to say that there is no way these two will ever be friends. After all, these two are doing fine without needing to roast each other once in a while. But if these two end up crossing paths again, then we’re going to need the popcorn ready.

6 BFFs: Zac And Corbin

The last of the High School Musical friendships, Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu always seemed to have a great time together, whether it is filming or hanging out. Playing the main lead, Troy Bolton, Zac is accompanied by Corbin, who plays his best friend Chad Danforth, who plays basketball and prefers to stick to the status quo. Throughout the years of filming the High School Musical series, it is an awesome opportunity to see these guys become awesome friends even after it ended.

Zac has been very successful in appearing in mainstream Hollywood movies, and so far, he is making a name for himself by becoming one of Hollywood’s rising stars. As for Corbin, he, unfortunately, is not reaching that same landmark, but he has gotten married and is still doing acting.

As if we couldn’t handle enough High School Musical reunions, the two, alongside Lucas Grabeel, had a meetup when Corbin was doing Broadway with a play called Holiday Inn Musical while it was in New York. Zac’s Instagram post must have been blowing up like crazy when the three main guys have come together to support one of their shows. If there is going to be a High School Musical 4, please let these guys and the ladies make an appearance! Our hearts can’t take it!

5 Not BFFs: Raven And The Cheetah Girls

Even bandmates don’t last forever. The Cheetah Girls was a huge sleeper hit that managed to get two sequels, an album, and three national tours. Consisting of Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, Sabrina Bryan, and the already famous Raven-Symoné, these four made huge successes from the span of their time as the girl group we grew up with. Here’s a fun fact: the late Whitney Houston served as an executive producer in the first two movies. That must have been insane for a talented woman like her to be involved! Back to the subject, what was strange is that Raven did not appear in the third and final film of The Cheetah Girls franchise, and we assumed it’s because of her character going to college. Unfortunately for us, that was not the case.

Apparently, there was some tension going on behind the scenes, and that led to a strained friendship between Raven and the rest of band members. Also to note, she was working on the movie College Road Trip, so she couldn’t work on both projects while also having to deal with a feud from the three ladies.

Thankfully with the past all behind them, their distance away from each other did them some good. At least for Raven and Adrienne, the two were reunited in the latter’s talk show The Real. It’s good to know that some tension has calmed down over the past few years.

4 BFFs: Selena And Demi

What makes Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez’s friendship all the more special is that they have been friends since their time together on Barney & Friends. Meanwhile, the two would later be on Disney Channel doing their own separate works such as Demi doing the Camp Rock movies and Sonny with a Chance. Then Selena would make appearances on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, and finally star in Wizards of Waverly Place.

Finally, in 2009, they would star in the Disney Channel Original Movie Princess Protection Program.

These two ladies have been on similar paths when rising to stardom and even had to go through some terrible bumps along the way. Demi would be at rehab fixing her eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and self-harm. Selena would end up having surgery for her failing kidney, due to being diagnosed with lupus, but thanks to her other friend Francia Rasia, she was able to have a successful surgery.

It makes us happy to believe that friends can be able to be successful while also working together, in the case of their time as kids and budding teenagers. But is their friendship perfect? Might want to read along for the next entry.

3 Not BFFs: Selena And Demi

It is hard to believe, but Demi and Selena had their fair share of feuds. No friendship is perfect, and Demi and Selena are the perfect examples of that. To be fair, Selena has been a completely different person ever since she left Disney, and the same can be said for Demi, but in Selena’s case, she has been in the spotlight mostly for bad reasons. Selena would later become the girlfriend of teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, and fangirls were not happy at first.

In 2014, Demi actually unfollowed Selena due to the ridiculous drama between the latter and her ex-boyfriend Justin. She posted a meme of herself, swimming away from the insanity. While we are not taking sides, Demi definitely threw some intense shade at her childhood friend. As soon as the tension was gone, Demi more than likely followed her back.

As usual, the media would do whatever it takes to get their few seconds of fame by posting rumors about the two ladies not being friends anymore. As Demi’s mom points out, her daughter and Selena will always love each other, no matter what the media says. Friends will get into arguments and blow off at each other, but they will always make up and brush it off.

2 BFFs: Ashley And Brenda

Ashley makes an appearance yet again, but this time, she is with her costar from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody Brenda Song. These two played what are arguably very clever roles. Ashley played as Maddie Fitzpatrick, a teenage girl who works as a candy girl in the Tipton Hotel and is very smart. Brenda is London Tipton, the heiress to the hotel and despite being rich and Asian, she is actually not that bright. Having the two stereotypes be swapped is genius, and they have acted very well thanks to the ladies’ chemistry.

So of course, they managed to become great friends on and offscreen.

What is crazy is that Ashley actually auditioned for the role of London Tipton, but at least she got to be the rich girl in High School Musical. Even though she was not in the main cast for the spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck, Ashley did get to be a special guest star. Brenda also had the opportunity to spend time with Ashley offset, while revealing that she is like a sister to her. That is a very nice thing for to say despite focusing on different projects, but at least we were able to see these awesome girls be great friends on and offscreen.

1 Not BFFs: Hilary And Lindsay

This is what you call a classic. In the early 2000s, Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan were the queens of Disney Channel. Hilary would be rocking as Lizzie McGuire and become a pop star sensation while Lindsay appeared in several roles from Disney and Disney Channel, eventually rising to become an A-list actress with Mean Girls. They were on top of the world and were the names that we would call out when we think of Disney Channel.

As to why these two talented actresses were pitted against each other? You can thank the one and only Aaron Carter. This jerk had the nerve to date Hilary as they met on the set of Lizzie McGuire, but once Aaron met Lindsay, he cheated on Hilary with the redhead. Want to know what’s worse? He went back to Hilary!

Lindsay was so upset that she had the nerve to tell Hilary’s costar from A Cinderella Story, Chad Michael Murray, and spread lies about her. She wasn’t done yet, as she would make an appearance on Saturday Night Live as she was the host, and actress Rachel Dratch would portray Hilary, and it was not fun to watch if you were a fan of Hilary. Even though it seems that Hilary has taken a lot of damage from all of what happened in their feud, Lindsay was also a victim.

The whole moral for all of this is that no one should be cheating on anyone. Thanks a lot, Aaron Carter.
