Until Dragon Age Inquisition, the elven Gods in Dragon Age were your classic pantheon of Gods and Goddesses. All this changed when Solas, one of the player’s companions in Inquisition, revealed their mythos to be built on lies. The Dalish, roving bands of elves who keep the history of the people, had it wrong - in reality, their gods were powerful mages, who had enslaved their people. This is in line with most of the mythology in Dragon Age, with many stories having alternative tellings.

Solas then went one further and revealed himself to be one of the Elven Pantheon, the Dread wolf, Fen’harel. He had sealed the rest of the gods away in anger for their killing of Mythal and had created the Veil in the process, to separate the Fade, the world of dreams, from the real world, banishing them forever.

With Solas now vowing to tear down the Veil and merge the Fade and the waking world, in Dragon Age 4, we’ll likely see some, if not all, of these gods, make their appearance.

10 Elgar’nan: God Of Vengeance

As the Dalish tell it, Elgar’nan is the co-leader, along with Mythal, and eldest of the gods.  He fought against his father, the Sun, and banished him into the void. Only Mythal could temper his rage and convinced him to allow the sun to rise during the day, as long as it went away again at night.

In actuality, Elgar’nan was possibly the most powerful of the Evanuris and used his power to enslave the elves beneath him. Since Mythal died, he is the sole leader of the gods and as such is likely to be a powerful antagonist in Dragon Age 4 if Solas is successful in his plans to tear down the Veil.

9 Mythal: The Great Protector

Mythal is known to the Dalish as the all-mother, protector, and patron of justice. While Elgar’nan would let his temper get the better of him, Mythal would think rationally and dispense justice fairly.

Solas reveals Mythal was killed in the god’s lust for power, and it is because of this, that he created the veil and banished them forever. Mythal’s spirit, however, lived on, and eventually latched herself to Flemeth, the witch of the wilds, an enigmatic figure featured in all the games. Solas seemingly took what was left of her spirit at the end of Inquisition, but it would not be the first time Flemeth has cheated death, and so she could reappear in some form, in Dragon Age 4.

8 Falon’Din: Friend Of The Dead

Either the twin brother of Dirthamen or just very closely bonded, Falon’Din is the god of death and the one who guides the dead to the beyond, and is sometimes known as the merciful one. Since the fall of the elves, and the banishment of the gods, the Dalish bury their dead with an oak staff to keep them safe on their journey to the Beyond, as they no longer have their guide.

Due to his connection with the Beyond, or the Fade as it is also known, he will likely appear in the next Dragon Age game, likely as an antagonist, but possibly as a neutral figure, due to his role as the god of death.

7 Dirthamen: Keeper Of Secrets

Dirthamen is tied closely to Falon’Din, who some say is his brother, and helps him to guide the dead to the Beyond. He is closely tied with two ravens, Fear and Deceit, and provides the elves with guidance and counsel as they journey to the beyond. Since the fall of the elves, The Dalish Bury their dead with a cedar branch to help scatter his Ravens, who no longer have a master.

Along with his brother, Dirthamen will likely be encountered in Dragon Age 4 due to his connection with the fade. With its predecessor Dragon Age Inquisition having one of the longest playtimes, we can be sure that Dragon Age 4 will have plenty of time to delve into its more secretive gods.

6 Andruil: Goddess Of The Hunt

Andruil is one of the most important gods of the Dalish, due to her domain being linked to their survival - the hunt. According to the ancient elves, Andruil also created weapons and hunted mortals along with animals. Along with Fen’Harel, she was one of the gods closely tied to the Abyss in which the Forgotten Ones reside.

If Andruil is to appear in Dragon Age 4, due to her connection to the hunt and the references to hunting mortals, she will most likely be an enemy to the protagonist. As the God of the Hunt, it would likely be a difficult fight. Of course, as some fan theories contend, she could also be an ally to the player in the form of Sera.

5 Sylaise: The Hearthkeeper

In Dalish Mythology, Sylaise is one of the kinder Gods, who watched over the children of the elves and also provided them with fire. She also taught the elves the healing properties of plants and how to use magic for the same purpose.

A codex in Dragon Age Inquisition however reveals her to be just as malevolent as the rest of her kin, forcing thousands upon thousands of elven slaves to channel the Fade and create a giant spherical monument as a gift to June.

4 June: God Of The Craft

Little knowledge has survived of the elven god June. The Dalish know him as the god of craft, who taught them how to make bows, and clothing, but there are not many surviving myths. They also give unsolvable puzzles to their children called a ‘June’s Knot’ which is meant to help train their minds.

Sylaise gifted a giant floating monument, built by slaves, to June as a gift, who presumably accepted it happily. June could appear in Dragon Age 4 along with Sylaise, with whom he is closely connected.

3 Ghilan’nain: Mother Of The Halla

The youngest of the Gods, Ghilan’nain is also one of the few that can turn into a different form. In this case, she was able to turn into one of the Halla, due to her being the God of them after being transformed into one by Andruil.

According to a codex found in the temple of Mythal in Inquisition, Ghilan’nain convinced someone, possibly one of the elven slaves, to take the form of the gods and fly in the face of them. While the person that did so was punished, it appears that Ghilan’nain was spared. This might be mean that he will act against his brethren when Solas tears down the veil, possibly becoming an ally to the new protagonist.

2 Fen’Harel: The Dread Wolf

Of all the elven Gods, one we can be certain of seeing is Fen’Harel, or Solas as players will know him better as. As one of the Evneruris, the Dread wolf was also the only one who could walk among the Forbidden ones freely. After the murder of Mythal by the other gods, Solas banished both clans of Gods and created the Veil.

Since Solas appears prominently in the trailers and concept art released for Dragon Age 4, and due to where we left him at the end of Inquisition, we can be quite sure that he will be the main Antagonist of the next game. His plan to tear down the Veil and restore the elves to their prior positions of power would destroy the current world as we know it. Sounds like a bad guy to us.

1 The Forgotten Ones

When the Gods were sealed away in the Beyond, the Forgotten ones were sealed away in the Abyss. To The Dalish, they were the evil beings in opposition to the Gods greatness. Seeing as how we now know the elven Gods were actually malevolent enslavers, the lore surrounding the Forgotten ones may be incorrect, and we might see them in Dragon Age 4 as allies.

It is revealed in Dragon Age 2 however, that the Forgotten One might be tied to, or the same as, the Forbidden Ones - Ancient demons that some say taught Tevinter Magisters blood magic. We have met three of these demons in the games, so far, as optional bosses, so we will in all likelihood meet the final one, named the Formless One, in Dragon Age 4.
