It used to be difficult to turn out a satisfying game adaptation of a popular anime, but recent years have shown vast improvements in the area. My Hero Academia is one of the biggest anime of the decade and the series’ latest game, My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 is a satisfying love letter to the series.

It’s incredible to witness how much attention to detail is put into One’s Justice 2 and while there are tons of obvious features to appreciate in the game, there are also many that are hidden away. Accordingly, here are some Easter eggs and features everyone completely missed in My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2.

10 It Features The Dub Cast

There used to be a time where anime games were almost never localized to North America and only the most popular series were given such an honor. It’s been exciting to see series like My Hero Academia or Kill la Kill get proper appreciation in America, but when titles are released, they’re often lacking an English audio track.

This was the case when One’s Justice 2 initially released. However, the 1.05 update patch actually brings in full audio from the dub cast. It’s a massive undertaking that seriously surprised fans.

9 There Are Now Team Plus Ultras

It’s fairly standard practice for video games in the fighting genre to offer some kind of super special attack that’s used to punctuate or finish off battles. My Hero Academia is a series that’s full of incredible powers, so it’s only natural for One’s Justice to make use of the series’ flashy Plus Ultra attacks.

One’s Justice 2 goes one step further and allows intricate and more powerful Team Plus Ultras to be achieved when a special team of sidekicks and assists are paired together. It really rewards smart teams that respect the series’ storylines and relationships.

8 Save Data From The First Game Unlocks Content

My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 works very hard to provide tons of alternate outfits for the game’s roster. In a nice nod to connectivity, players will be rewarded with Midoriya’s Checkered Uniform costume if they have any data from the previous title, One’s Justice, on their console. Granted, this final alternate costume for Midoriya can also be purchased, but it costs a hefty 10,000 Hero Coins, which is more than some players may be willing to spend on a fairly innocuous costume change. That’s why the One’s Justice save data method of unlocking is such a better alternative.

7 Each Mission Has A Secret Objective

A lot of the unlockable content that’s hidden in My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 is either hinted at or has an obvious method of achievement. However, the game is also very sly in regards to how every mission in the game also hides a secret objective. Every mission has three objectives: simply beating it, beating it on S-Rank, and fulfilling some secret requirement. These requirements involve factors like winning the game with a Plus Ultra attack, winning under certain health and time restrictions, and much more. Beating these secret missions will unlock more costumes and accessories.

6 Environments Are Destructible And Interactive

The original My Hero Academia: One’s Justice is a competent fighting game that does the anime justice, but it’s not without its faults. One’s Justice 2 irons most of these problems out of the title, but also adds many new features that properly capture the anime’s chaotic sensibilities and insane fight sequences. A huge factor in One’s Justice 2 is that characters can literally destroy their environments if the fight gets too out of hand. Additionally, characters can run up walls and interact with environments in a way that brings so much energy to the title.

5 Arcade Mode Unlocks Character Artwork

Fighting titles typically channel more attention into the multiplayer scene and the effectiveness of online play than they do with the solo campaign of a title. It’s always disappointing when the single-player content in a fighting game is lacking, but My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 doesn’t hold back here. There’s a ton to unlock in the game, but appealing pieces of character artwork can be unlocked by working through the game’s Arcade Mode with every character. Each character has three possible routes, all of which unlock different pieces of artwork.

4 There’s A Stamina System

A common feature when video games progressively add more to their formula is that there also needs to be a way to balance and keep all of these new skills and powers in check. My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 gives players a lot more freedom in terms of what they’re capable of doing in an arena. However, there are also consequences. The addition of a new stamina system to the fighting game can seriously impact players’ strategies. Techniques like wall running, dash cancels, and quickstepping all drain stamina.

3 Customization Options Can Be Purchased

Video games have evolved purely on a hardware and gameplay level and the fighting games of this generation are understandably completely different from several generations back. As much as smooth gameplay and impressive aesthetics are valued, players are now eager to customize their characters and make them as individualized as possible. One’s Justice 2 truly features a ton in the customization department. New costumes, costume parts, voice packs, and motto phrases can be unlocked through story missions and mission mode, which can then be purchased with Hero Coins.

2 Music From One’s Justice Can Be Unlocked

It’s been very exciting to see how fighting titles have slowly grown to understand that music is such a vital part of the gameplay experience. The My Hero Academia anime has lots of fantastic music to pull from and One’s Justice 2 is full of addictive tracks. Players unlock new music tracks by playing trough the game and organically encountering the music in levels. However, if players manage to unlock all of the music from One’s Justice 2, then they’ll be rewarded with the original One’s Justice music as well!

1 Beating Story Mode Unlocks Ultimate Heroes

My Hero Academia: One’s Justice 2 doesn’t skimp when it comes to the characters that are available and a very full roster is available at the start of the game. That being said, two behemoths can be unlocked from completing both the Hero and Villain sides of story mode. Izuku Midoriya Full Cowling 100% and Kai Chisaki Ver. 2 will both be unlocked in the process. However, they are also available as pre-order bonuses. If these strong fighters aren’t enough, then a Season Pass with 5 DLC characters is also slowly getting released.
