Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for about a week. A lot of fans have started donating to their museums, greeting new neighbors, and visiting each other’s islands. We have also been enjoying some new villagers that have been added to the series!

The Animal Crossing fandom has come out of hibernation and has been making fan art and posting memes. Among the posts we have seen are actually a lot of fan-made villagers, and we fell in love with some of them!

Here are ten fan-made villagers that we wish were real. Be sure to check out the artists’ linked profiles as well.

10 Moth Villagers

These are the cutest little guys in the whole world. We are in love with their faces, fluffy bodies, ears, and unique looks. According to the artist, the first moth is a lazy villager named Snowball and their design is based on the white satin moth. The second villager is Mort, a cranky villager whose design is based on dead’s head hawk moth. The third is Sherbet and their personality is snooty and their design is based on a rosy maple moth.

The artist who made these is Chel and she has made more, so check out her work!

9 Boba, Thrash, And Rusty

Made by artofthero, these fan-made villagers are bursting with personality.

According to the artist, the frog villager’s name is Boba and her entire design and aesthetic is based on boba tea. Her catchphrase is “tapioca.” Thrash is a cranky goat villager, and we love the piercings the artist gave him. According to the artist, his house is full of musical instruments. The possum’s name is Rusty, and she is the town janitor.

8 Bat Villager

There are no bat villagers yet in the Animal Crossing series, but there are a lot of fan-made ones. We particularly loved this one by pinkbees.

This fan-made villager is a vampire bat named Peaches. He has a cranky personality. The artist was already aware that the name Peaches is already used for a horse villager in the series, but chose the name anyway because it suited the bat so well.

7 Chimera Villager

Fantasy creature villagers are a major desire of the Animal Crossing fandom. It is not something the series has never done either, as there is a unicorn villager named Julian. However, besides Julian, fantasy creatures are slim pickings.

So Art-Zealot decided to design a chimera villager! We love that the snake tail is the one doing the emoting rather than the actual face of the villager. There is no doubt that this villager would be a fan favorite if they were real.

6 New Species

Besides bats and moths, it would be cool to have lizards and platypus villagers as well! We love the designs for all four of these fan-made characters. The art was done by amphari.art.

Not only are the characters visually adorable, but we love the personalities and catchphrases that the artist gave them. Kiwi’s “mlem” catchphrase is definitely the favorite out of all of them. Also Pia is just the cutest name! Just don’t show her the bug section of the museum.

5 Possum Villager

Possums have been Internet meme stars, so they would be a welcome addition to Animal Crossing.

This fan-made villager was made by gatobob, and she loves to make art about possums! According to her, this villager would give the player a lot of tips about digging. If the player needs a shovel, this possum will always have one to give them. The artist did not give the character a name or personality though. What would you give it?

4 Sharks And Bats

As mentioned before, there are a lot of fan-made bat villagers. However, shark villagers are a rarity! We absolutely love the hammerhead shark with the spotted dress and little bow. She is a star and deserves everything. We also love the large ears the bats have. They have the perfect faces for Animal Crossing, filled with personality! The angry-looking shark would also make for a cool cranky villager. The art was made by mosaur.

Perhaps the reason there are no bug and fish villagers is because you collect sharks and fish for the musuem? Actually, that ship has already sailed! There are frog villagers and octopus villagers, and those are also creatures you can donate to the museum!

3 Lemur Villager

A major surprise to fans of the animal kingdom is that there are yet to be any sort of lemur villager! What makes it so surprising is that lemurs are very cute and expressive. They would make great additions to the game. The artist was inspired to make this original character villager after playing a lot of Happy Home Designer. The lemur’s name is Trystan and he is a grumpy or lazy villager.

That artist is ZeTrystan and based on their gallery, they are also playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

2 Bearded Dragon Villager

This is another one of many fans who agree that Animal Crossing needs lizard villagers. After all, it is not called “Mammal Crossing!” This lizard villager is a bearded dragon, which is actually a popular reptile pet. They are very chill and are often recommended to novice reptile owners (though their environmental and nutritional upkeep can be a little complex).

The artist for this villager is ms-aibee. She fittingly named this fan-made villager “Beardie.” She is also has a passion for reptiles and her gallery includes photos of some of her scaly friends.

1 Mixed Villagers

The sky is the limit in terms of villager designs. When the series already has a mouse made of cheddar and a rhino made of sweets, why not ask for even more imagination? This artist did that by having a literal cat-fish design! From left to right these villagers’ names are Kitfish, Necro, Masuku, Magic Skies, Sev, and Furion. Not only do we love the hybrids, but the designs for the lion, horse, and hamster are very cute and original too.

The artist is Angel-soma.
