Stardew Valley was a farming, life-sim hit, scoring 89 on Metacritic. Though many adventurous farmers around the world have a neverending love for the well-crafted game, fans have beaten the game to a pulp and are always on the hunt for the next best thing.
Whether you’re looking for a realistic, relaxing time or an adorable adventure, there’s a farming game in this list for you! Here are 10 farming games that aren’t Stardew Valley!
10 Alchemy Story (PC)
Between bright colors and kawaii character designs, what’s not to love about this farming game? Alchemy Story stands out from other games because of these characteristics. For people who enjoy cutesy and cartoonish looking games, this could be one for you.
This farming game includes a tiny bit of witchcraft along with farm work! You can brew potions and tend to adorable, blushing animals all at the same time. The game is still in early access, but many Steam reviews feel positive about the game’s continual growth.
9 Forager (Switch, PS4, PC)
Forager is a survival-farming game where you fight hordes of enemies and expand your base as you explore the world around you. Known for being an idle game, you can sit back and relax after a long day to enjoy some foraging and fighting.
The game is more fast-paced than other traditional farming games and almost feeling like a farming-roguelike which may be what some people need in a sea of slow-paced games that focus on romancing NPCs.
8 Farming Simulator Franchise (PC, Mobile, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo)
A tad bit different from what you think when you hear Stardew Valley or the like of, Farming Simulator is nevertheless, a highly addicting farming game. With over four games in the franchise, renewing every few years, this game is far more realistic than the other farming games.
In Farming Simulator, well, you basically carry out modern farming duties with realistic graphics and modern-day tools at hand. No fishing with a wooden hand-made pole and no romancing the mayor’s daughter. With up to 16-person multiplayer, you and your buds can just do some good, honest work!
7 Harvest Moon: Light Of Hope (PC, Switch, PS4, iOS & Android)
Arguably one of the first farming games that included inheriting a farm, romance, and village life, Harvest Moon is a classic must-have. The first-ever game started out on the SNES as a pixelated-RPG experience and has now been sprung into 3D magic for multiple devices.
Some enjoy the original versions over the newest, but either way, there is a Harvest Moon game out there for every type of person to enjoy.
6 Voodoo Garden (PC)
Instead of being sweet and adorable, this farming game is more on the spookier side of things. With a soft, pleasing graphics style, you tend to a dark-magic swamp and harvest special plants.
Voodoo Garden takes on a more fantastical and idle look at farming games. You can purchase and care for animals, meet spirits who help you expand your experience, and ward off bats from ruining your crops! If you’re looking for a casual, clicker game to farm in while listening to a podcast or taking a load off, consider checking this one out.
5 Staxel (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
If there are any Minecraft fans reading (and if you’re a real gamer you should be) Staxel might take an interest to you. Here you live in a block-world with full character customization, crop tending, animal feeding, and village social life.
You can customize your town and space as well as take on tasks that aren’t related to growing your farm so that you never get bored. And if you somehow do become bored, there’s multiplayer!
4 4: The Islander (PC)
A unique farming game in that you are centered on an island somewhere in Polynesia, The Islander offers a different experience from the rest. No more being stuck on a rich grandpas farm somewhere in North America with villagers who won’t leave you be.
In The Islander, all land that you see is your own for the taking. You focus more on designing your own farm from scratch with the help of robots made of coconuts and spend peaceful hours planning out your island farm, decorating it as you see fit.
3 Kynseed (PC)
For die-hard Stardew Valley fans, this might be the next thing for you as it’s very similar in style. With beautiful pixelated graphics, you live on a farm with magical secrets and start your own family as you explore the unknown and create a flourishing environment.
Things don’t stop there. Your character ages, and with aging comes death. But worry not, because when you die you get to continue living in your children’s shoes. The experience never ends as you create your own generations. The game is still in early access, but many are excited for PixelCount Studios to add more content soon.
2 Garden Paws (PC, Switch)
Another adorable, cartoonish farming game comes Garden Paws. You play as a cute, chibi animal that can be a common domestic breed or some magical creature. Creating and tending to a farm is not all the game has to offer, though.
Garden Paws was thought up by a group of 3 people who have given us an insane amount of content that is still being worked on and added to today. You can create and customize your character, furniture, and do multiple different adventures that don’t have to involve your farm. From over 1000+ items to sell and buy, 400 skins to customize yourself, 160+ clothing dye options and more, you can never run out of fun.
1 My Time At Portia (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One)
My Time At Portia might be the second most known farming game aside from Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. Set in a more 3D word, you can customize your own character, name your own farm, expand it and interact with a town in need of your help.
Romancing is available as well as mining and combat. You can expand your house and farm to large extents and compete with other Builders in the town to be the very best. This is a fun, grinding farming game that is enjoyed by many.
