The latest entry in the Persona series and Persona 5 universe, Persona 5 Strikers, is a warriors style hack-and-slash action game that combines frenetic combat against hordes of enemies with traditional Persona combat, using demons to exploit weaknesses. Besides being a very enjoyable game in its own right, fans were excited to have another adventure with the Phantom Thieves.

However, once this adventure is done, you might find yourself looking for another exciting, action-packed game to play, with the same blend of gameplay elements as Persona 5 Strikers. Here are games to try out if you’re looking for something like Strikers.

10 Hyrule Warriors

If you like action games and the Legend of Zelda series, then you may be interested in the Hyrule Warriors spinoff titles. There are two Hyrule Warriors games so far, and the first one tells a standalone tale with characters spanning the entire franchise. It was first released on the Wii U and was most recently enhanced for the Nintendo Switch.

The second Hyrule Warriors game, titled Age of Calamity, involves story elements from Breath of the Wild. Both games provide frenetic, hack and slash action, and are developed by the same team behind Persona 5 Strikers.

9 Devil May Cry 5

The Devil May Cry series is known for its action gameplay that focuses on being as stylish as possible. The series has a long and beloved history, but curious gamers don’t need to play the past games to jump right into this one.

Devil May Cry 5 offers a cast as quirky and loveable as Persona 5’s, with incredible action combat using melee and ranged weapons, letting players feel a rush of adrenaline as they fight through hordes of demons. The game also has segments where you play as different characters, so there’s a total of three character play styles to try out, and another fourth, if you’ve got the Vergil DLC.

8 Fire Emblem Warriors

Another Nintendo series with a Warriors game spinoff is the Fire Emblem series. Available on Switch, Fire Emblem Warriors features iconic characters from many of the series most popular titles, including Chrom, Marth, and even Fates heroes such as Corrin and Xander.

Having such a variety of characters with different movement types, such as infantry and cavalry, and different weapon types, allow players to have a lot of options when it comes to how they play through the game. There’s also a mechanic that allows you to command other units on the field, and there’s a support conversation system too, so Fire Emblem fans will feel right at home.

7 Bayonetta

One of PlatinumGames’ most well known and beloved series, Bayonetta is a common favorite of action game fans everywhere. Featuring the stylish and iconic witch, this game series has players battling foes with magical attacks, weapons, and Bayonetta’s own hair.

The gameplay is fast paced, exciting, and loaded with tons of special moves and combos to execute, making it easy to pick up but difficult to master. Taking place in beautiful and haunting settings, with a great soundtrack to back up the endless and stylish action, the Bayonetta games are a ride from start to finish.

6 Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

While the Metal Gear series is known mostly for its stealth action, profound commentary, and unique characters, Metal Gear Rising offers something a bit different. Developed by Platinum Games, the masters of slick action combat, Metal Gear Rising lets players take control of the cyborg Raiden in a journey that involves cutting through countless cyborg solders, massive enemies, and enigmatic bosses.

One of the biggest draws of Metal Gear Rising is, of course, its combat. Focused entirely around swordplay, the game features a unique cutting mechanism that lets players slice enemies at any angle they want.

5 Hades

Developed by the acclaimed indie studio SuperGiant, Hades is an unforgiving rogue-lite action game with an addictive gameplay loop and combat that demands your full focus and reflexes. This game has a large and loveable cast of characters, some of which you can get to know better through the game’s built in friendship and dating mechanics. Other characters are met along the journey, such as various gods who bestow powers upon your character to help him get through stage after stage of enemies.

While Hades is an action game, it’s unlike any that you’ve played before. The combination of social mechanics with frenetic combat, weapon variety, powers, and great characters, come together to make an experience well worth the price of admission.

4 Xenoblade Chronicles

Like Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles is a JRPG that will suck up many hours of your time. The game has a large and beautiful world to explore, with stunning vistas and a lovely soundtrack to back it up.

However, where Persona 5 was a turn based JRPG, and Persona 5 Strikers is a hack and slash game, Xenoblade Chronicles is an RPG series that combines action elements with combat. This makes it a more action based experience than the turn based combat of Persona 5, as it involves positioning your characters around the enemy and selecting attack moves in real time.

3 Monster Hunter Rise

The Monster Hunter series has been exploding in popularity since the release of Monster Hunter World. Rise is the newest installment in the series, available on the Nintendo Switch, and is expected to release on PC eventually, too.

Similar to Persona 5 Strikers, Monster Hunter Rise is all about being quick on your feet and exploiting enemy weaknesses to strike your foes where it hurts. The game offers many options for players with different combat styles, with each weapon type boasting a unique and satisfying experience.

2 Final Fantasy VII Remake

The Final Fantasy VII Remake was hotly anticipated by both new and old fans of the series. It’s a game full of beloved characters and iconic music, but there is much that the remake provides beyond a fresh coat of paint. This first installment of the remake is fully voiced, helping bring the cast even more to life than ever before.

One of the most prominent refreshes that this remake has brought to the game is within the gameplay itself. While the original game was turn based, the remake is an action RPG with some elements of turn based combat. Time slows when players are selecting spells, for example, similar to how it’s done in Persona 5 Strikers.

1 Nier: Automata

Another release developed by the renowned Platinum Games, Nier: Automata is very successful latest title in the Nier series, which is a spinoff of the Drakengard series. The first Nier game, Nier Replicant, received a remaster with enhancements and additions recently, but the combat in Nier: Automata makes it the most satisfying and polished option for newcomers.

In Nier: Automata, players control the android 2B on a mission to save Earth. There’s a lot more going on besides that basic premise, but the game is so full of twists and secrets that it’s best to go in knowing as little as possible. Fans of Persona 5 Strikers will enjoy this game’s combat and implementation of RPG elements, such as levelling up, weapon upgrades, and a chips system that allows for combat upgrades.
