Monster Hunter has always been a series not shy to let its goofy side show. The same is thankfully still true for this new entry. The Palicos alone are like the court jesters of the series while also being cute. It’s hard not to smile every time the Palico chefs make some fresh dango and dance around.

There are also aspects of the game that can be laughed at through different perspectives aka memes. Some things are just hilarious oddities to point out while others highlight certain aspects of the game that don’t make sense. Monster Hunter Rise isn’t really a game that can be spoiled so don’t worry about averting one’s eyes to these memes.

10 Monster Hunter Envy

The guy with a girlfriend looking at another girl meme is a classic staple on the Internet. It applies to this Monster Hunter situation nicely. Switch owners were envious they didn’t get Monster Hunter World at the time of launch and now PlayStation owners are envious of Monster Hunter Rise. The grass is always greener on the other side as they say.

9 Wroggi Cowboy

The Great Wroggi’s is basically a big raptor with a poison sac. It has nothing to do with cowboys and yet that is exactly what the armor turns into.

It even comes with guns for a decoration on the holster. This meme brings to question why is armor all the same every time for every character anyway?

8 Copy From The Best

Palamutes and Repede, the dog companion from Tales of Vesperia, look very similar. They both have blueish purple fur and scars on their faces. The only thing missing from this game is the pipe and chain collar. It should also be noted that this meme from The Office comes from the episode “Search Committee” wherein Pam tries to fool Creed with two copies of the exact same picture.

7 Ratatouille Rider

This is the exact opposite of how Wyvern Riding works in the game. That has humans riding animals whereas this has Remy the rat riding his friend Linguini the human. It’s a great joke from Ratatouille. Hairs are pretty close to Wirebugs in this case so the meme works perfectly well. One might wonder how Remy would do with making Dango.

6 Palamute Drift

This meme’s joke is a play off of the movie, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It works here because Palamutes can drift around corners to both turn tighter and get a boost in speed. Riding a dog was already pretty goofy in the game but having them also drift around like a car is even wilder. Either way these dogs could be a fun addition to Mario Kart 9 whenever that comes out.

5 You’re A Wizard Fugen

When it comes to owls, it’s hard not to think about the Harry Potter series. In this case owls are called Cohoots in the game and act like radar for the player. They also deliver items like mail so putting these two properties together for a meme was bound to happen. Wizards existing in this series would not be that hard to imagine as there are literal monsters everywhere along with talking cats. Would adding magic then be that farfetched?

4 Pointy Ears

This meme points out an odd inconsistency or maybe a hint at something secret in this game. Everyone in town has pointed ears like an elf. The only one that doesn’t is the player character. There aren’t even any ear options in character customization. This may point to the fact that the main hero might be from another world just like how the movie’s plot was.

3 Moon DLC

The Legend of Zelda has made appearances before in this series but nothing quite like this. How would one battle the moon from Majora’s Mask anyway? Before answering that one should know that that happened in a game once.

As a mild spoiler, Dead Space 3’s final boss was essentially an infected moon. It was wild so carving up a moon in this game for moon armor might also be weird, but it would be an experience to remember that is for sure.

2 Monster Hunter Rise In A Nutshell

Majora’s Mask DLC would be one thing that probably wouldn’t happen. This meme’s joke probably also won’t happen as Capcom might see it to be too weird. A real looking cat and dog fighting monsters, in other words, may seem too jarring. This is basically Monster Hunter Rise in a nutshell though. It’s all about dressing up cats and dogs in armor so how much weirder would realistic textures even be?

1 A Terrible Fate

It seems like the Happy Mask Salesman, also an alum from The Legend of Zelda series, has replaced this game’s mysterious merchant, Kagero. This crossover idea seems more plausible than the evil moon. That is to say it’s easy to imagine the Happy Mask Salesman asking the player to carve up some monsters so that he can make some masks for them. They could both look cool and increase some stats.
