With the release of the newest game in the Watch Dogs franchise with Watch Dogs: Legion, Ubisoft has given players access to a variety of new hacking tools to dispense justice in a post-Brexit London. The newest title continues the trend established in the previous two entries of allowing players to expose injustices through hacking and a variety of other means. But there are a lot of things that do not make much sense in not just Watch Dogs: Legion but with its prequels as well.
Thanks to the Internet and memes, there are ways people can bring these issues to light in a funny but constructive way. Here are 10 memes that do this exact thing.
10 Walk Dogs: Legion
Despite the game having the word dogs in the title, both the first and third games do not have any dogs to speak of. But leave it to this meme to satiate the need for good old pun-based humor.
Not only are there no dogs in the games but there are also no dog masks in the game either. Ubisoft really needs to step up their game in the naming department for their games.
9 Stairs Logic In Watch Dogs
The first Watch Dogs was a game that helped lay the groundwork for what the series is today, despite not living up to expectations. While there are a number of reasons for this, poorly placed stairs might not be one of them.
Seeing a set of stairs that lead up to a highway with speeding cars that could easily run over a pedestrian would be a huge architectural fail. It certainly is a big, but pretty funny fail in the world of Watch Dogs.
8 Grandmas Got Guns
When it was first announced that Legion would let players play as anyone by recruiting them into Dedsec, most people probably thought about how they could make an overpowered character. But then came the announcement that one of those characters could be an elderly woman.
In Legion, grandmas can help dispense justice armed to the teeth if they are ever called upon. Most people would never associate guns with their grandmother or elderly women in general, but that is apparently the case in Watch Dogs Legion.
7 Sign Me Up!
Recruiting people off the streets is one of the biggest aspects to Watch Dogs: Legion. Just about anyone can be recruited so long as they view Dedsec in a favorable light. But this anyone means everyone.
The meme highlights that seemingly anyone and everyone that likes Dedsec in the game can be recruited after a simple mission. The idea alone is pretty nonsensical which is shown perfectly in the meme above.
6 Fear Me
While most would not assume this face to be the leader and face of an international hacker group, Legion changes that assumption with the older gentleman right here.
While it makes sense in the context of the game, had the game ditched the recruit anyone concept. Chances are the developers would never have made this guy the main character of the game since it would not make sense. But sense has never been Watch Dogs’ strong suit but nor is it a weakness to this extent.
5 Who Would Win?
Leave it to anime memes to be used side-by-side with that of video games. Only in these two mediums would these two crazy old ladies take up arms to teach these old whippersnappers some lessons.
While it would admittedly pretty cool to see this in real life, reality just makes too much sense for this to be plausible.
4 Killing NPCs Is Like Killing Yourself
The recruit anyone mechanic letting players make everyone a possible member of Dedsec to take to a variety of areas. But what happens when a player were to kill an NPC? Whether it be killing them on purpose like with an enemy or by accident like in the meme above, there is permadeath with these people much like with the player.
In a way, killing an NPC in the game really is like killing oneself.
3 My Expectation For Watch Dogs Legion
Watch Dogs 2 let players hack and control remote-controlled vehicles such as drones for the first time in the series and Legion continues that trend with new vehicles such as the spider bot.
One might assume that there could be other animal-based RC vehicles in a DLC or future installment with the bird bot. What is known though is that neither of these concepts make too much sense, at least for now.
2 To Recruit Or Not To Recruit
Potential enemies belonging to one of the hostile factions in Legion can be recruited into Dedsec, as briefly stated earlier. But why recruit them when the player can just make a big explosion with one of their grenades and cause a little havoc in the process?
Blowing them up though will mean that a buddy of theirs, whether they are apart of the faction or not, will remember that they were killed by an operative meaning that they cannot be recruited. But sense is never needed to have fun.
1 One Tough Grandpa
Some games like GTA has the main character put on a helmet when they ride a motorcycle for a simple but nice touch of realism. Watch Dogs: Legion though is not one of those games.
The face of Dedsec from earlier returns after ramming into a car on a motorcycle without a helmet and gets up just fine since the game has an automatic health recovery. As a result, this grandpa is a tough cookie and lives to hack another day.
