The World Of Warcraft coterie prides itself in being one of the best meme communities in the gaming world. And not without good reason. With the recent launch of the Shadowlands expansion, the meme community went to work almost instantaneously. The latest expansion to WoW features a dark and broody setting coupled with some very difficult areas for players to prove their worth. This makes for a perfect setting when it comes to memes but then every setting is perfect for the talented World Of Warcraft meme community.
The memes below do not have any major spoilers whatsoever so players should feel free to go through them even if they haven’t completed the Shadowlands expansion yet.
10 No Bargains Here
In the latest World Of Warcraft expansion, the Maw is supposed to be an inescapable zone but the reality is far from that. Players get to visit the Maw right at the beginning of the game only to escape and return later which…. confuses The Jailer, to say the least. The Maw also serves as the endgame zone in the World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion with The Jailer being as formidable a foe as Dormammu but this time players don’t have the power of bending time on their side.
9 Torghast Rules The Mind
Located in the dead centre of The Maw, Torghast will surely take up a lot of space in players’ minds, mostly due to it being endlessly replayable. This infinite dungeon is constantly changing with no two runs being the same. The unforgiving area houses great treasures and items for players to find and it is best approached with caution as well as friends to back you up.
Rewards for advancing through Torghast include anima powers as well as Soul Ash which can be used to craft legendary weapons.
8 Let Me Out
Original World Of Warcraft players will instantly recognize Alexandros Mograine. One of the most well-known Warcraft heroes, players will come across Mograine in Maldraxxus and as to how he ends up there, is a story for another day. Even in the sweet release of death, Mograine still carries his signature sword- Ashbringer. It’s impossible to escape the afterlife and Mograine’s confinement is a testament to the fact. Needless, to say, this meme perfectly captures the feelings of Mograine upon seeing players casually dilly-dally across the Afterlife.
7 Nothing Unusual Here
Warlocks are a class that can summon demons at will to aid during battle. That being said, joining the Kyrian covenant as a Warlock will feel weird to some players. In Shadowlands, Kyrians are angelic beings and known for their virtuous personality, adjectives that cannot be used for Warlocks. Kyrians are also the first Covenant players will come across as they make their way through the World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion.
6 Blinded By The Light
The overall theme of the latest expansion in World of Warcraft is extremely broody and dark. Bastion serves as a ray of light in the nightmarish tinge of Shadowlands, literally. Players will find themselves travelling to Bastion more frequently than what is required, purely because of the break it provides. It’s also more forgiving than the other areas such as Maldraxxus and The Maw- which serves as the lair of The Jailer. It is frequented by the Kyrian Covenant.
5 You Don’t Have The Privilege Of Choice
Blizzard has upped the difficulty in Shadowlands, with The Maw and Torghast being the most unforgiving zones. While places such as Bastion allow players to take it easy, Torghast and The Maw are ridden with dangers around each corner. The Maw is the most horrific place in the Shadowlands realm, and The Jailer rules it.
Players will visit the zone right in the beginning as well as upon reaching max level.
4 Pineapples Ahoy
World Of Warcraft is notorious for having some simplistic quests which lead players on a hunt for some very specific items. Though pineapples are not one of them, it doesn’t make said quests any less infuriating. It’s high time Blizzard implemented a system in which quest items don’t disappear when players are close to finding them or switched up things when it comes to quest design. The Shadowlands expansion does have some features which allay some of the problems players face but it’s not quite there yet.
3 No Difference Whatsoever
The Wild Hunt is a faction consisting of the premiere Hunters and Huntresses from the kingdom of Ardenweald. The animated short made them look particularly spectacular but unfortunately, in the game, they look like the love children of Centaur Pariah and Tyrus Blackhorn.
Though this is not the first time a game has disappointed us with character model differences, Blizzard took it too far.
2 Wait For Your Turn
As with the launch of any other expansion in World Of Warcraft, the servers are a tad bit crowded. In Shadowlands, the issue was even more pronounced due to the fact that it had an awesome introduction at Blizzcon in 2019 along with the gloomy theme. A scroll through the r/wow subreddit and players will realise the extent of issues caused by overcrowded servers. In fact, scrolling through this list is one of the best ways to await your turn.
1 The Best Kind Of Dungeon
World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands introduced a new type of infinite dungeon in the game. Torghast is currently one of the most challenging yet fun Dungeons in the game because no two playthroughs are the same. The design team at Blizzard should be lauded for their efforts in designing one of the most beautiful and unforgiving places for players to test their skills. Goodbye Palace Of The Dead, we have a new winner in town.
