The Yakuza franchise is beloved by so many because of its balance between seriousness and wacky storytelling. Mainstay Kazuma Kiryu can go from a heartfelt scene of someone losing their loved one to chasing after someone who stole a bunch of underwear or battling with a child over a game starring anthropomorphic busty bug women.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg too. While the dramatic scenes and brawling gameplay are fun, it’s these crazy situations that really stand out. These fan comics and funny pieces of fan art poke fun at just how weird this universe really is especially when it comes to the aforementioned Kazuma and his rival/stalker, Majima.

10 Talk To The Hand

No matter if a side quest starts off with some other goal in mind chances are it will end in a fist fight. Many times it is even said out loud that answers will be shown through fists. This is the Yakuza way. This comic imagines a literal interpretation of a hand puppet doing the talking which is great. This Yakuza picture was put up on Reddit by notblakely.

9 Defense From The Defenseless

Another odd thing about side quests are the rewards. NPCs seem fine with the level of violence Kazuma, or any other protagonist, dishes out no matter the crime they committed. On top of that there can be logic holes like this comic points out which is not too far off from the truth. This Yakuza picture was put up on Awkward Zombie by Katie Tiedrich.

8 Kiryu Insurance

Just what exactly are the insurance rates in the Yakuza games? For most of them, not counting Yakuza: Like A Dragon, players can grab objects in the middle of battle. This can range from a bike to a park bench.

This fan comic then looks at the other side aka the victims of Kazuma’s bike rage in other words. This Yakuza picture was put up on Awkward Zombie by Katie Tiedrich.

7 Yakuza X South Park

This picture shows off Kiryu Kazuma, Ryuji Goda, Shun Akiyama, and Goro Majima from the often forgot spinoff, Yakuza: Dead Souls. It is inspired by South Park if that part wasn’t obvious. The South Park style is very easy to translate into fan art so it works here as a comedy bit. This Yakuza picture was put up on DeviantArt by SilverMonki.

6 Big Men, Tiny Cars

Both Kazuma and Majima are serious men. They’re a bit crazy, but they belong to the Yakuza or were part of it in one of those cases. The point is taking party in mini games like toy car racing is hilarious from any viewpoint. Who has the time for this when there are butts to kick? 5 Yakuza X Persona

After Sega acquired Atlus, fans have been dreaming of possible crossovers. So far, many Persona games have had crossover costumes. What if it went beyond that though to include Yakuza characters in the actual games? Kazuma would fit right in with one of the many confidants in this series. It’s too perfect an idea to pass up. Hopefully this is an if and not a when. This Yakuza picture was put up on Tumblr by jeinu.

4 Don’t Blow This

Nugget is a chicken Kazuma can acquire in Yakuza 0. Nugget then becomes a business partner. Remember the intro to this article? Yeah, needless to say this is the perfect example of how whacky and yet serious the Yakuza franchise can get. This comic spells it out clearly. The drawing itself is also just really cute. 3 Uncle Majima

Majima might be the craziest character in the series. He desperately wants to fight Kazuma no matter the cost. This comic shows off just how far he will go including asking for a horse race, dressing up like a mermaid and going under water and participating in a fan musical of Frozen. These panels don’t feel out of place at all from the main games. Hey Majima, let it go. This Yakuza picture was put up on Tumblr by translucentchick.

2 Toilet Majima

One can hardly resist putting up just one example of Majima’s craziness. Does having him jump out of a toilet seem too odd? It shouldn’t. Let’s all not forget that Mario is a plumber and jumps through pipes all the time.

So, is this even that strange? The real question is does Mario deal with this all the time? This Yakuza picture was put up on Twitter by H0lyhandgrenade.

1 Resting Majima

This final comic imagines what Majima is like when not following Kazuma. Is he trying to torment someone else or is perhaps throwing a huge party? No, he is passed out on the floor understandably. Wacky stalking can take a lot out of even the toughest Yakuza enforcers. This Yakuza picture was put up on Twitter by H0lyhandgrenade.
