Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released in 2013 with a number of re-releases for different generation consoles following in the years after. The newest re-release will be for the PS5 though some fans believe the announcement was done the wrong way. In the 8 years it has been around, the game has gathered a massive fanbase and a continuous stream of players.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has 3 main protagonists that the player can switch between. Each character has their own very unique personalities and storylines throughout the game. A firm fan favorite is Trevor Phillips, a highly unpredictable drug dealer, and arms smuggler. His personality partnered with his erratic behavior has led to some amazing memes.
10 They’re The Same
Throughout the game, Trevor reunites with an old friend Michael (who he thought was dead), and a new friend called Franklin. Together, all three of them end up helping each other out and pulling some very daring heists. To players that pay close attention such as zebra3girl, it is easy to see that Trevor really does value his friends despite his consistent harsh comments around them.
Trevor seems to show how much he cares about his friends by being mean to them. He does not know the difference between being cruel and kind. The intention behind half of his remarks at Michael is actually his way of expressing his pain at thinking he was dead for so long.
9 Pretty Princess Trevor
As all players of the game know, they can never predict what Trevor will be doing when they switch back to him. Occasionally, he can be found to be wearing a dress with absolutely no context on how he got it or why. The most likely answer is he is wearing it because Trevor does what Trevor wants to do.
Once gamers complete the main storyline and if they choose the deathwish option (keeping all characters alive), they can purchase a variety of dresses for Trevor. He seems to enjoy wearing them and his carefree attitude to his clothing makes fans love him even more. He even became some gamers’ character of the decade.
8 Trevor Has Some Hairstyle
His uncaring attitude about what he wears rolls over to Trevor’s haircut. At the start of the game, which is set in 2004, he can be seen sporting a mullet and handlebar mustache. Then when it catches up to modern-day Trevor, he has seemed to have lost his luscious locks from the earlier decade.
In the game, players can customize the hairstyle of Trevor but all of the options retain his baldness. Each hairstyle option is hilariously summed up in the meme on the Twitter account @GAMIVOcom.
7 Hungry Trevor
Trevor may be amusingly unpredictable but he does have stomach-churning habits. It is referenced frequently throughout the game by both himself and Micheal that Trevor has been known to literally eat people. When he talks about this, Trevor does it in such a blase way that shows gamers it is not new to him.
Whilst driving around San Andreas he can pick up and help random strangers. Some of these characters that are part of strangers and freaks missions can be delivered to a cult by Trevor. It did not take fans long to decipher that the cult eats the unsuspecting passengers he delivers and again, he is not bothered by it. Although the meme by this Instagrammer is amusing, it is another reminder of Trevor’s uncontrollable behaviors.
6 Old Clothes Are Fine
Gamers such as Instagram user mulitar.mp4 spend their hard-earned money in purchasing things for the characters. Franklin and Michael typically remain in the clothes that the player has put on them. Trevor on the other hand does things on his own when players are not in control of him.
Often, players will leave a customized Trevor and when they switch back to him in the same game session he has changed back into his old clothes. This further adds to the fact that gamers will never know what he will do next.
5 We Ride At Dawn Wade
As seen in the meme by Instagrammer multiar.mp4, as soon as Trevor knew that his former best friend was potentially alive he left everything he owned behind to find him. He did have other priorities such as securing deals for his drug dealing and arms smuggling business, but this did not seem half as important to him as seeking out Michael.
Wade is a friend of Trevor’s, although he is absolutely terrified of him at points and usually gets hit by him. It is Wade who manages to track down a person that could be Michael and he gets dragged along on this adventure by Trevor. He didn’t get much of a say in the matter either.
4 Trevor And Michael
Even though he is clearly angry and upset with Michael for faking his death, Trevor still seemingly has a soft spot for him. His insults towards Michael are definitely thinly-veiled confessions of caring about him. Michael himself states that anyone else that has crossed Trevor ends up dead or in his fridge – another nod at his cannibalistic tendencies.
For most of the game, Trevor has a different tone of voice when jabbing at Michael (until he really crosses him). Again, fans see this as the only way Trevor knows how to express his care. Even his admission that he mourned for Michael came out as angry though the admission was heartbreaking.
3 Kidnapped Michael Was Not His Problem
Near the end of the game, Trevor learns of a massive secret that sends him into an absolute rage at Michael. After confronting his friend, he leaves him at the mercy of a Chinese gang that Trevor himself had problems with. He has no remorse for leaving his friend to potentially die and that shows just how betrayed he felt by Michael’s actions.
Even when he is made aware that the gang had kidnapped Michael and he was told they would kill him. Trevor did not care at all, depicted accurately in the meme by zebra3girl. He carried on about his day as if the life of his old friend was not hanging in the balance.
2 Trevor Has A Heart
As fans already know, there are 3 choices that Franklin is given at the end of the game. All of these options lead to 3 drastically different endings that will affect the gameplay even after the storyline has wrapped up. Option A was to kill Trevor and Michael helps the player to do this without showing the slightest guilt for murdering his best friend. This makes fans wonder if Michael ever truly cared about Trevor.
However, option B is to kill Michael which the player carries out without any help. In the game after the story ends Trevor will be hostile to the player when they’re using Franklin. He seems genuinely upset and angry at his friend being murdered by someone they once trusted. Thankfully there is an option to keep both of them alive and the trio takes down their enemies together.
1 Trevor Is Too Angry To Die
Trevor is well known for his anger episodes and rage-induced murder sprees. He has rampages in the game when someone slightly makes fun of him or swears at him. In these side missions, he kills gang members and even takes on the San Andreas army. These missions always end with a high death toll and Trevor walking away victorious.
Each character has their own special abilities that can be activated at any time. Trevor’s one is sheer rage and often this helps the player get more kills in a short time period whilst sustaining little damage. Trevor is literally too angry to die and that’s just one trait that has some fans convinced that he’s one of the best video game heroes of all time. He’s just a “hero” in the GTA sense is all.
