Minecraft is always a classic, great game to play. After all, not many video games will give players the freedom to digitally recreate Earth on a 1:1 ratio. However, gamers might not be able to do such a thing with the base version of Minecraft as it is.
That’s why mods in Minecraft are always going to be popular. Mods can be key for quality of life improvements, or just making the game more fun. And these are the mods that can enhance the gameplay experience the most.
10 OPTIFINE
Minecraft is an old game and doesn’t exactly sit well in the optimization department anymore. It has a tendency to under-perform in decent gaming hardware, which is a terrible feeling if players have spent much on that equipment.
A quick and fairly standard solution for such a technological shortcoming would be Optifine. It makes Minecraft more optimized in terms of performance, with the added bonus of improving the textures.
9 BIOMES O’PLENTY
Biomes O’Plenty lets players create biomes in Minecraft, obviously. That’s because the default forests and wildlife in the game are a little lackluster. A bit of help is needed, and this mod lets players have dynamic forests and flora in the game.
If anyone wants more detailed trees then this is the mod for them. It also adds a lot of diversity to the said trees and other flora or vegetation. Do be warned, however, that this cannot be used in the old world– a new one needs to be created for it to take effect.
8 BETTERFPS
What we have here is a good alternative to Optifine, though players can use that in conjunction with this one for better improvements. BetterFPS is a mod that does what its title says. It optimizes the game further on several hardware and software fronts.
This can be the RAM on your PC, the in-game fog, or even certain algorithms to the game more stable. This way, players get plenty more headroom for going crazy on the worlds you build especially with better framerate to spare.
7 BOTANIA
Much like Biomes O’Plenty, Botania is all about adding diverse plants to the game to improve the landscape. In this case, Botania specializes in adding flowers to Minecraft. However, this isn’t just about aesthetics, the flowers will also affect the game world.
Some of these flowers have certain qualities that can heal the player or even feed the wildlife. There are also flowers in Botania that can apparently act as a portal to another world. It certainly adds as much to the gameplay in regards to the graphics.
6 PAM’S HARVESTCRAFT
If Botania allows players to pick and harvest flowers, then Pam’s HarvestCraft allows players to pick hard-earned crops. It practically turns Minecraft into a literal farming game or simulator, so players can do more than just build and excavate.
Pam’s HarvestCraft comes with dozens of crops, fruit trees, and even bushes for foraging. As a bonus, it also adds around 16 kinds of fish to catch. Lastly, it allows players to go full vegan or vegetarian with your meals.
5 INVENTORY TWEAKS
Another thing that didn’t age quite well for Minecraft is the user interface. It leaves much to be desired, especially since the player has to keep accessing the inventory for stuff. So, save the frustration and grab the Inventory Tweaks mod.
One of the best things about it is how it auto-sorts the inventory with a click of a button. Moreover, certain items in the Hotbar will now be automatically replaced once they run out– the same thing happens for item stacks. Don’t play the game without this one.
4 CHISEL
This next mod is a little something for those who love the building and construction aspect of Minecraft. The mod called Chisel adds a wide variety of block designs for decorations so that buildings and creations can look more stylish.
Heck, players even make a pixel painting using this mod. The decorative blocks are accessed by using the chisel tool. Other functions of the mod include adding another tool that can shift colors for certain blocks.
3 TINKERS CONSTRUCT
Dissatisfied with the default tools in Minecraft? Then check out Tinker’s Construct. It gives players more craftable tools in-game and then some. Moreover, players can also craft better tools out of a wider range of materials.
In addition to adding more tools, Tinker’s Construct lets players upgrade repair these said tools if they ever break. Just be sure to follow the proper workshop construction requirements.
2 JUST ENOUGH ITEMS
Crafting or making items in Minecraft for items players don’t know the recipe for can be a daunting task. With the mod Just Enough Items, however, the player can easily get help for the items they’re not familiar with.
The mod lets players toggle a helpful tooltip window whenever they look at an item. Pressing certain keys will reveal the item’s recipe or it will show the particular purpose for the item. It makes crafting and collecting more fun and less tedious.
1 JOURNEYMAP
For those who want to know their destination or where they have been, or simply have a poor sense of direction, JourneyMap is a godsend. This mod will give players a view of their world as they explore in real-time.
It works in a similar fashion to most open-world games these days with the mini-map function. The player can then view this map in a browser or in-game as a mini-map or in fullscreen.
