Nintendo has an amazing roster of characters from its many iconic video game franchises. Among these characters are various strong female characters that have gone on to become some of the most iconic video game characters of all time.
A special thanks is owed t0 DeviantArt user hoplessromantic721. The artist created a whole fan art collection of Nintendo characters as Disney princesses, and many of those wonderful pieces made it onto this list. Here are ten Nintendo characters reimagined as Disney princesses.
10 Adeleine
Adeleine from Nintendo’s Kirby series of games makes for quite the beautiful princess. Adeleinine, a very young girl in the Kirby series, was an unexpected choice to be turned into a Disney princess.
Fan artist hopelessromantic721 decided to show us a version of Adeleine from sometime in the future after she had entered adulthood. Then, by incorporating the thematics of her outfit from the games into a cute dress, this artist did an amazing job of creating a brand new Disney princess with a very unique style.
9 Samus
As one of the most fearsome bounty hunters in the Metroid universe, Samus more often than not has no time to look “pretty.” She’s too busy fighting off hordes of the insectoid alien race of Metroids.
Nonetheless, hopelessromantic721 imagined a version of Samus that chose to dress like a Disney princess. This dress takes the colors of Samus’s zero-suit and combines that with Samus’ likely attitude of being so over the whole wearing a pretty dress thing. This would likely be Samus’s face if she ever be forced to wear a dress.
8 Misty
Nintendo’s number one franchise, outside of maybe Mario, is Pokémon. Although the franchise has since spun off into a television series, movies, card games, and manga, in the beginning, Pokémon was simply a Nintendo video game.
Since the series was adapted for TV, the character Ash Ketchum has become a central figure in the series, even being alluded to in the games from time to time. An artist on DeviantArt named hikariangelove depicted one of Ash’s friends, and one of the very first gym leaders he had ever defeated (not really), Misty, as an elegant princess.
7 Midna
A dark creature that starred with Link in Twilight Princess, Midna is a member of the Twili, a race of dark magic using elves that, because of their evil actions, were banished to an alternate dimension by the goddesses Din, Farore, and Nayro.
Another great bit of fan art by hoplessromantic721, this interpretation of Midna decidedly changes the entire look of the character in her more human form.
6 Wii Fit Trainer
Perhaps the most generic of all Nintendo characters, the Wii Fit Trainer represents the release of the Nintendo Wii system. There was quite a bit of hype surrounding the Wii and its fitness applications, so the company created Wii Fit Trainer to capitalize on all of that hype.
Since Wii Fit, the trainer has also appeared in multiple installments of the Super Smash Brothers games. Because of that, the character continues to remain relevant. It was a very interesting choice that hopelessromantic721 made by turning the trainer into a Disney princess. That being said, it is quite interesting to see the character in this new and unexpected way.
5 Zelda
There is no princess that exists within Nintendo’s vault of characters that is more iconic than Zelda. Artist Valkymie created this stunning picture of Zelda in the same style as Disney would depict one of their characters.
Valkymie is a very talented artist that perfectly captures the soft features of the Zelda character from the video game. These features get softened even more to help her appear more Disney-like.
4 Another Zelda
As previously mentioned, Zelda is Nintendo’s most iconic princess, besides maybe Peach. Because of that, she certainly deserves more than one entry on this list. While the last piece was merely a headshot, this artwork shows the princess getting her own dress made in the classic style that Disney is so well-known for.
Yet another piece by the talented hoplessromantic721, this version of Zelda captures that very same look that Snow White and Sleeping Beauty became so famous for.
3 A Second Samus
This second Samus as a Disney princess artwork, created by Chicken-Yuki, incorporates the thematics of her zero-suit costume into the dress. The fanart does this in such a way that it honors the character while also creating something completely new and original.
The first Samus fan art to appear on this list was very nice, but at the same time very simple. This additional Samus incorporates a more intricate, unique design into her dress that is much more reminiscent of other famous Disney princesses we have seen before.
2 Daisy and Peach
Besides Zelda, the next two greatest Nintendo princesses are the ones that come from the Mario franchise. Peach and Daisy started off as the damsels in distress early off in the franchise, but have grown in depth and importance to the point that they’re now great standalone characters in and of themselves.
It appears that these were probably the two characters hopelessromantic721 was most interested in turning into Disney characters. Out of all of the rest of the characters on this list, it is probably Peach and Daisy that are most fit for this sort of transformation.
1 Disney Princess Poké Girls
Misty isn’t the only female character in the Pokémon franchise. In the many decades since the first two games were released, many additional female characters have been introduced into the franchise.
In this amazing piece of fan artwork, IndieCalls decided to bring all of these Poké-girls together and dress them up as various, specific princesses from Disney movies. There are many diverse costumes and looks that these princesses are wearing, helping the piece come together in a very dynamic and unique way.
