Like an old friend, Animal Crossing is coming back to “town” in less than two weeks. The new adventure, New Horizons, will allow you to escape the hustle and bustle of the world—real and figurative—and join Tom Nook and his gang on a beautiful island. Animal Crossing holds a special place in the heart of many gamers for a good reason.

Not only is it just a fun way to pass the time, but it also allows you to build connections with other characters in the game. Other than The Sims, it is the premier-life simulator. This reputation has caused some fans across the world to show their appreciation for this franchise by creating some cool fan art. Ready to see your next desktop wallpaper? Take a look below.

10 Anyone Up For a Picnic?

Whimsical is an understatement when referring to Animal Crossing. It is the ultimate option for those who want to escape the world around them and enter a virtual community. This photo shows the fun you have when you suspend all disbelief and jump into Animal Crossing.

When you aren’t planting or exploring the world for items, you can kick back and enjoy a peaceful picnic with your animal friends. We are here for it and love the work @shrew_bn put into this stellar piece.

9 Oh So Cute

When we see this image, it makes us think of hot cocoa, warm blankets, and lazy afternoons. There is something comforting about this creation from @KING_GIDORA. It shows two animal villagers just simply enjoying time together. We can just imagine the scene; they are sitting in the park, sharing a joke, and chuckling at the joyfulness of life. Who knew we could get more tranquility from a video game than a sitcom these days?

8 The Hipster Bunch

This image has a story, we just know it. It may seem like just a random combination of characters from Animal Crossing, but there has to be a more in-depth narrative regarding this photo.

There is a hipster-looking villager, a gorilla in a detective suit, and a dog that looks like he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. We want an Animal Crossing game based on this one image. We would play it! Thanks for drumming up our interest, Omochi.

7 Snow Day

If this graphic had a smell, it would be of cinnamon, pine, and everything Christmas. This image drums up feelings of waking up at an Airbnb cottage and just enjoying the wintery scenery. These guys are having a ball: building snowmen (or snowdogs), enjoying the snow, and warming up the house behind them (we can imagine how amazing that fireplace looks).

This is the type of image you hang up in your home to bring in the holiday season. We have to give another shoutout to Omochi for another beautiful Animal Crossing-related creation.

6 Frolicking In The Fields

Okay, so the team at Nintendo should seriously think about turning Animal Crossing into a children’s book series. They should also enlist the help of libz (a.k.a. Ellie Horie) to help them design it. This type of media would be an excellent way to introduce children to the Animal Crossing franchise.

However, while images like this do conjure feelings of warmth and fun, it also makes us wonder if these villagers take any time to work at all. They have time to chase bees, play in the snow, and go on detective missions. That’s just the jealously talking as we wish we had the free time as well.

5 Let’s Go Camping

We know what you think when you see this image: it’s a game of Where’s Waldo, but for Animal Crossing. Honestly, this image makes us realize how excellent Animal Crossing games and art would be for an activity like finding characters and items within photos.

If they ever went this route, we definitely think nicodemettre of Tumblr would be the artist to take this on. We don’t know what spawned this camping trip, but we would love to participate if we could.

4 A Visit To Nook’s Cranny

Honestly, how cool is this image? There is something amazingly neat about the calmness of the colors and the retro feel. We get a refreshing look at what Nook’s Cranny (or store) would look like in an old school 90s anime title. The rising sun in the background and the flat but engaging colors used in this design make us want to see this graphic on a t-shirt. We know there has been an Animal Crossing anime in the past, but this image makes us sincerely want an update. A huge shoutout to Daniel Mackey at Dribble for this one.

3 Game Of Loans?

We don’t even know where to start with this one. There is so much to like. First, the color scheme brings home the undercurrent that all isn’t right in the world of Animal Crossing. Second, the reference to Game of Thrones, and relating it to the financial strain put on villagers in the game is genius. Third, it also brings attention to the real issue of debt management we face in most western countries. This image from Amy Rexford accomplishes so much, and we are here for all of it.

2 Switchin’ It Up

How cool is this? So, the story goes that creator, Ann-Sophie De Steur was so inspired by the unveiling of Animal Crossing: New Horizons at E3 2019 that she created this awesome graphic.

In turn, we are just as inspired and impressed. Here we see a villager and her animal friend enjoying a friendly moment. The setting looks very much like an actual Animal Crossing game, but what sets this one apart is the framing. Here we see the outline of a Nintendo Switch. It is an impressive tribute to the system, and what the new game hopefully has to offer.

1 Ms. Isabelle

Now, you know we couldn’t have a listing of cool and quirky Animal Crossing fan art without featuring Ms. Isabelle. Even if you aren’t a fan of the series, you have likely seen or heard of this famous character. Here, we see a flawless representation of Isabelle. She looks like a dutiful anime character that is heading from school to begin her work at Animal Crossing.

Everything about this image is notable. The way the sun shines through the window, the soft pencil lines, and the awesome world created around her. We want this on our wall pronto! Thanks ほし for this stellar graphic.
