Star Wars has only grown in popularity since Disney acquired the franchise and in the years since has done some of the property best, as well as most questionable work. As one of the world’s most popular franchises, it’s hard to find a property with a similar size of fan base, but despite being much younger Pokemon is right there.
Fans dream of the day when the two can crossover in some way, though that day may never come. Until then, let’s pair Star Wars characters with their perfect Pokemon partner, through Pokemon Sword & Shield.
10 Boba Fett/Ivysaur
Boba Fett has emerged back on the scene as the fan-favorite Star Wars bounty hunter appeared in the second season of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. Pairing the bounty hunter with Ivysaur not only works because their colors are similar, but it’s the type of tough and resilient creature Boba would likely grow fond of. He needs to be agile and quick during his missions, so it’d be unlikely that he’d ever want to evolve it into a Venusaur. It’s more likely he’d simply give his Ivysaur an everstone to hold to prevent evolution.
9 Poe Dameron/Talonflame
Poe Dameron is an incredible pilot and will stop at nothing to make sure the rebels come out on top. The First Order is his #1 priority and he’ll do anything in his power to protect his loved ones and those he feels are innocent. On top of being the fastest Pokemon in existence Talonflame also happens to have one of the better shiny versions, as that form of the creature is covered completely in crimson red feathers. Shiny or not, pairing an accomplished pilot with a Fire and Flying-type Pokemon seems like a no-brainer.
8 Han Solo/Arcanine
Han Solo is a rebellious criminal with plenty of charm and more thoughtful than anyone would assume. His best friend in the entire franchise is a giant creature completely covered in fur.
This means that it’s only logical that Han’s perfect Pokemon partner would also be a large furry creature that can be next to him throughout his adventures. Arcanine may be a Fire-type beast, but it’s loyal to its owner and would give Han both a best friend to cherish, as well as a living form of transportation considering he could ride on its back.
7 Ahsoka/Milotic
Ahsoka Tano appearing in live-action for the first time introduced the character to an entirely new audience of Star Wars fans and science fiction fanatics. Her use of dual-lightsabers and independent relationship to the force makes her very interesting to anyone remotely familiar with the lore of the franchise. Milotic is a Water-type Pokemon that’s beautiful to look at but much larger and powerful than its elegant form portrays. Ahsoka may not spend tons of time near water, but that doesn’t mean Milotic isn’t her perfect Pokemon partner.
6 Obi-Wan Kenobi/Eevee
Readers may argue that Eevee is too cute and adorable to be the Pokemon partner of a man so stoic and reserved. The thing is, Eevee exudes a lot of what Obi-Wan Kenobi stood for and saw in others. The true untapped potential of people like Anakin Skywalker, that could be molded by things around them. Kenobi understands that untapped potential is equal parts brilliant and terrifying and understands the burden of being responsible, even if partially, for the outcome of such potential whether good or bad.
5 Kylo Ren/Incineroar
Kylo Ren is an emotional man and force wielder who comes in like a nuclear bomb when his anger is provoked. He’s also a stout and fit person who packs quite the barrel-chest and fighting ability. A Pokemon like the Dark and Fire-type from the Alolan Islands named Incineroar feels like Kylo’s ideal Pokemon partner. On top of also having a broad chest, it’s a capable fighter who can hold its own and can unleash a fury of power when it becomes angered, excited, or simply has a purpose to strive for.
4 Rey/Cubone
The pairing of Rey and Cubone may seem extremely sad, and that’s because it is. Both have severe mental hurdles to overcome as a direct result of parent-related trauma and can grieve with one another over it. Rey is introduced as a scavenger on a planet with plenty of sand, an ideal environment for the Ground-type from the Kanto region.
Though she’s incredibly powerful, there are times where Rey is cute and adorable, which despite its hardships Cubone happens to be as cute and adorable as anything could be with a skull for a helmet.
3 Mandalorian/Togepi
Din Djarin, more commonly referred to as simply the Mandalorian has quickly emerged as a fan favorite thanks to his show. The character has shown a willingness to care for small adorable creatures that can’t defend themselves, considering he’s done this with Grogu, the small Yoda-like force wielder. Togepi seems like the best choice to pair up with the bounty hunter as it meets all the criteria of a creature Djarin would develop a connection with and protect with every fiber of his being. It also seems like the perfect art commission that will exist within 5-10 years.
2 Luke Skywalker/Lucario
Luke Skywalker is the main character of the Star Wars saga. He’s a plucky and naive kid with tons of energy and an empathetic nature. He wants to do right by the people he cares about most and will stop at nothing to vanquish evil. Lucario carries many of these same traits and the fact that it’s Steel and Fighting-type means it is ready to brawl when need be. Its ability to sense emotions from long ranges would come in handy for Luke when he’s looking for force-sensitive beings after he defeats Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.
1 Darth Vader/Corviknight
Darth Vader is a hard person to find a perfect Pokemon partner for as there are several solid options. The first two are obvious and those happen to be Aggron and the shiny black version of Charizard. Both of them are cool and fit the vibe of Darth Vader, but there’s a more unique choice that also fits. The giant Flying and Steel-type bird from the Galar region, Corviknight, matches the all-black aesthetic and like Darth Vader is intimidating from the moment you set your eyes on them. It’s unclear whether Darth Vader would allow Corviknight to pick him up for transportation, however.
