Star Wars is one of the world’s most popular and profitable franchises, and following Disney’s acquisition of the property, it seems its growth is only multiplying. Popularity is one common thing Star Wars and Pokemon have, though Star Wars has the latter beat in terms of longevity.

Great minds think alike, and because of that, Pokemon designers were likely inspired in some capacity by the sci-fi mega-franchise. Let’s now look at 10 Pokemon, through Pokemon Sword & Shield, that happen to resemble Star Wars characters.

10 Obi-Wan Kenobi/Farfetch’d

When looking at which Pokemon resemble Obi-Wan Kenobi, a clear and obvious choice emerged. Kenobi is known for his stoic and reserved nature, but those who know the Jedi Master understand the type of power he possesses. Both the Kanto and Galarian versions of Farfetch’d are very similar in this regard. It also helps that Farfetch’d has feathers that are relatively the same color as the Jedi robes Kenobi wears. The only miss between the two is that Farfetch’d isn’t holding a blue leek in its hands.

9 Grogu/Grookey

There are several Pokemon that happen to be small creatures with big eyes and ears, but many of them aren’t green. One of Grogu’s most defining characteristics is his green skin that’s iconic to his species of alien. It’s unclear if Grookey, the Grass-type starter from the Galar region would be just as into small metal balls, but there’s a chance. Grookey has an adorable look and seems like the type of creature a random bounty hunter would want to protect if they randomly came across it along their journey.

8 Tarkin/Gumshoos

Most fans of Star Wars consider Grand Moff Tarkin to be one of the franchise’s more intimidating villains. He’s a man with a presence and his legacy in the galaxy had left quite the mark. He’s known for this powerful stance in which he puffs out his chest and stands with his arms behind his back.

The Normal-type Pokemon from the Alolan Islands known as Gumshoos is known for doing the same exact thing and the similarities between the two are undeniably striking. Once you see it, it won’t leave your brain.

7 Porkins/Snorlax

This entry may seem like a jab at an overweight character in the Star Wars franchise, but it is anything but that. Jek Tono Porkins, or Porkins for short, was a pilot in the original trilogy that quickly became a fan favorite due to him seemingly being the only overweight person in the entire rebellion. His connection to the Pokemon Snorlax should be rather obvious, though it’s unclear if Porkins enjoys the act of sleeping as much as his much larger and heavier Normal-type Pokemon counterpart hailing from the Kanto region.

6 Mandalorian/Bisharp

The success of the Disney+ show titled The Mandalorian has helped Din Djarin quickly ascend the rankings of favorite Star Wars characters for the general populous. In the world of Pokemon, there’s a handful of creatures that have armor as a part of their design, but none resemble Din Djarin more than Bisharp. The Dark and Steel-type from the 5th generation of games not only is covered in metal armor but also has a crested helmet as a key part of its design which only grows in presence once it evolves into Bisharp from its base form.

5 Jabba/Shiny Muk

Jabba the Hut may have been a crime boss, but most people remember the giant pile of green sludge as an amorphous mass that festers on a thrown of illegal activity. Thanks to the fact that Pokemon have shiny forms that result in the creature being an alternate color, Muk can be paired with Jabba. The shiny version of Muk ditches the deep purple slime for a pile of sludge that more closely resembles the putrid green color of Jabba’s skin. It’s unclear whether Jabba or Muk would be harder to understand in conversation.

4 Kylo Ren/Machoke

The internet is a wonderfully interesting place where Star Wars has become the center of far too many memes. Thanks to the new trilogy of films, Kylo Ren’s barrel chest has been seared into the minds of anyone using Twitter.

In the world of Pokemon, there are two creatures with the same body structure and those are Incineroar and Machoke. The Fighting-type from Kanto, Machoke, gets the edge as it is a bit more human-like and its proportions seem to be more in line with what Kylo Ren is working with.

3 Rey/Eevee

When audiences first meet Rey they see her as a doe-eyed adventurer with a fighter’s mentality. As time goes on audiences come to understand the power and potential she has within and what she could become if that potential and talent is harnessed and molded in the right way. Eevee, the evolutionary Normal-type, is the same way as it’s often seen as a cute puppy-like creature, but in reality, it happens to have the most potential in the entire franchise. The combination of adorable and powerful is the definition of Eevee and Rey.

2 Piloswine/Chewbacca

The giant creature covered in fur happens to look just like another giant creature covered in fur. It should come as no surprise that Chewbacca’s Pokemon doppelganger happens to be an Ice-type pig-like creature that draws a lot of influences from mammoths named Piloswine. Ursaring also has a case for looking like Chewbacca, but the fact that its eyes are identifiable dropped it in the overall race. Piloswine may not stand on two legs and tower over humans, but it’s covered in hair from head to toe which seems like the more iconic part of Chewbacca’s design.

1 Aggron/Darth Vader

Thanks to the film Rogue One, Star Wars fans were treated to what many consider to be the most terrifying and intimidating scene Darth Vader has ever had in live-action. He’s a powerful force wielder and in the world of film is pointed at as one of the medium’s most iconic villains. Both Corviknight and Aggron are Pokemon that exude Darth Vader energy, but the Rock and Steel-type carry the intimidation factor a bit more clearly. It’s the final form of a tiny adorable creature, which also lines up with the story of Anakin Skywalker.
