The PlayStation 4 has a plethora of video games to its vast library. Whether these games are exclusive to the system or are on other platforms, there is something for everyone and the hardware makes its games look absolutely stunning. One of the things that helps capture every last detail is photo mode.
It seems like just about every big-time triple A title comes out with a photo mode to help share a player’s best moments in ways that were not possible before. However, not every game on the PS4 has a photo mode, which is a shame really. While there are more than these PS4 games out there that do not have photo mode, these are perhaps those that desperately need it the most.
10 Call Of Duty Series
The Call of Duty series is known the world over for its action-packed campaigns and intense firefights. Despite this though, there is no photo mode for those more into the single player side of things.
Perhaps there is a hidden area someone wants to show to their friends or an intense set piece they want to get a different look at. While theater mode is present in Black Ops Cold War, that is only limited to videos which cannot be edited to make something truly special.
9 Ratchet & Clank (2016)
Developer Insomniac has already tapped into the potential of photo mode for its Spider-Man games. So why not do the same for Ratchet and Clank?
Each game in the series main selling point is taking down loads of enemies with some really big guns. A photo mode would add a new layer of chaos into the mayhem or maybe to take some photos of the extraterrestrial vistas in the game. Hopefully the next game will add a photo mode.
8 Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
Sticking with platformers but this time it is with everyone’s favorite marsupial, Crash Bandicoot. Crash is one of the most expressive video game characters with the wide arrange of facial expressions he makes. Despite this the game lacks a photo mode, at least one that cannot be used without modding.
Capturing the numerous expressions of not just Crash, but the other playable characters doing some insane things would be a gold mine for photo mode enthusiasts. The game is also beautiful to boot, which makes the writing on the wall quite clear for this one.
7 Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2
Photography is a huge part of skateboarding culture and is a prime feature in magazines such as Thrasher Magazine. The Tony Hawk has always prided itself as being the premier skateboarding video game. Despite this though, the game lacks a photo mode.
Skateboarding photos is made to show people some of the crazy things skaters have done that others have not. Tony Hawk should have this to create a similar feeling. Plus it would also help to look for secrets everyone missed in the game so that way people can find them for themselves.
6 Saints Row The Third Remastered
The original Saints Row The Third was great in its own right. Two years after that game came out was when GTA 5 came out and brought a photo mode along with it. Despite seeing the potential of a photo mode in an open-world game, the remaster does not have one.
Players can deck their characters out in some ridiculous outfits and make some truly unique characters. Yet there is currently no way to share these things and the game’s insane moments for that matter. A photo mode would solve that issue and draw more people into the game.
5 Mass Effect: Andromeda
The awkward launch of the most recent Mass Effect game might have hampered the experience a bit, but the game does provide players with a whole new galaxy to explore and memorable characters to explore it with.
But there is no way to capture the other-worldly experiences though. Which is odd because any Mass Effect game would benefit from a photo mode. Similar to Ratchet and Clank, the other world vistas would lend itself perfectly for photo mode as well as the action and intimate moments in between.
4 Skyrim
Skyrim has one of the most unique worlds out there. With its large cities and intense action, gamers will be stuck for hours exploring every nook and cranny to see what they can uncover. But without mods though, there is really no photo mode in the game.
While the PS4 version does have mods, it is extremely limited when compared to its competitors. Having a photo mode would keep people engaged and help share the games secrets to the world.
3 Fallout 4
Another Bethesda game but this time it is the Elder Scrolls’ post-apocalyptic sibling, Fallout 4. The game may not look that good compared to some of the other games of its time, but it does its jobs in capturing the gorgeous destruction of its world and characters that inhabit it.
Like Skyrim though, there is no proper photo mode in the game. With all of the unique monsters and radioactive environments to encounter, it is odd there is no photo mode since it seems like the two would be a good fit.
2 Final Fantasy 7: Remake
The remake to one of the most beloved JRPGs ever made expanded its world in more ways than just a face lift. It also added new areas to explore and characters to know in the city of Midgard.
It is a shame that there is no photo mode in the game though. In this case it would lend itself well to some comparison shots of the original Final Fantasy 7 and its remake. There is a rumor it could come to the game but it remains to be seen if we can capture Cloud and company’s epic journey across Midgard.
1 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3 is debatably the game of the generation and there are a variety of reasons for it. This has to do with its quests, large world to explore and amazing characters. All of this but there is no photo mode to be found anywhere.
A game as huge as this has a lot that can be captured by the player. But there is no way to do this other than pressing the share button on the controller and taking a screenshot. It does not do the screenshot justice and lacking a photo mode in a game like The Witcher 3 does not do it justice either.
