With the announcement of Mass Effect: Legendary edition, fans will once again dive into the timeless classic trilogy. The announcement does not only bring hype to the gaming community but it also already has people wondering what the next adventure in the RPG series will be about.

Whether the game will be called Mass Effect 5 or Andromeda 2, players are left pondering what exactly the new game will be about this time around. Along with this, players are hoping that questions left unanswered in Andromeda will hopefully be answered in the new entry, whenever it may arrive. There are ten questions specifically that players have regarding the prior entry that need to be answered by Bioware.

Spoilers ahead.

10 What Happened To The Quarian Ark?

Returning players might have noticed the lack of certain species such as the quarians within the Andromeda Initiative. This is explained by Director Tann in the game that since they have specific environmental needs and that they picked up other species with similar needs (the volus, drell and hanar for instance), they were delayed in coming to the new galaxy.

In the Hyperion immediately following Andromeda’s climax, one of the scientists will tell Ryder about a distress signal from the ark warning them about something. A mission or even a mentioning describing what happened should be within the upcoming title.

9 What Happened To The Jaardaan?

Late in Andromeda, the players will learn about the Jaardaan. This is an extinct species responsible for the creation of the remnant, the bots you have been encountering throughout the game, the vaults, and Meridian.

It is unknown how exactly the species went extinct in the first place. While it is hinted that it might have to do with the creation of the scourge, Mass Effect 5 should give a deeper look as to what exactly did cause them to go extinct.

8 How Many Kett Are In Andromeda?

The Kett is the first new species that Ryder encounters in the Andromeda galaxy. They are the game’s main bad guys, led by The Archon, the commander of the Kett in the Heleus cluster, looking to exploit the vaults in order to make the Heleus cluster submit or die.

Players will find out in a side quest, though, that the kett are not in Heleus but they have strongholds in other parts of Andromeda. The fifth entry needs to address how much of Andromeda the kett occupy and just how many there are out there.

7 Are There Any Friendly Kett?

The Kett in Mass Effect: Andromeda are looking to use exaltation, a method in which they turn a person into a kett loyal only to them in order to adapt their genes to themselves, to make their society greater. They are also completely ruthless in forcing this on people against their will.

But do all Kett agree with this method? Ryder finds an unlikely ally in the kett Primus who hates the Archon too but still wants to exalt the Heleus cluster. While a twist like with Legion is likely, it will help to provide a more positive look into the Kett.

6 How is the Andromeda Initiative Doing?

The Andromeda Initiative were on their last legs when Ryder first encounters them but is able to make things better towards the end of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It would be nice to see just how far the settlements established in the game, like Prodromos, are doing after the game’s events. It would also be nice to see where your squadmates are now, even if they do not return as squadmates in Andromeda 2.

5 What Happened To The Milky Way?

Upon collecting all the memory triggers, the player will discover that the Andromeda Initiative was a discreet way of evacuating society away from the Milky Way to avoid the cataclysm of the Reapers.

It is never actually stated though what exactly happened though and whether any of Mass Effect 3’s four endings was the canon ending and whether or not the trilogy characters died tragically or won in the end. It would be nice to see some closure when it comes to Shepard, their team, and everyone else in that galaxy.

4 Who Killed Jien Garson And Why?

Jien Garson is the founder of the Andromeda Initiative who was killed when the Nexus hit the scourge before the events of the main game. Players later discover while looking for memory triggers that she was actually murdered.

Garson hints that she discovered something she should not have and that someone was after her for it. Players only see a vague profile of the killer and are left wondering who killed and why.

3 Who Is “The Benefactor”?

While Garson was the face of the Initiative, it was actually “The Benefactor” who helped make it possible. They are also the person who introduced Ryder’s father, Alec, to the initiative.

No hints are given as to who they are but they did in fact know that Reapers were coming to the Milky Way. Just who is this benefactor and where did they get the funding for the initiative? Some have theorized it to be the Illusive Man and Cerberus but it seems players, for now, will have to wait.

2 What Else Is There In The Andromeda Galaxy?

Despite having the galaxy’s name in the title, players only ever explore one portion of the Andromeda galaxy, the Heleus cluster. It is known that this galaxy is bigger than the Milky Way since it is referenced a few times.

One of the game’s selling points was the wonder of exploration and is a huge theme throughout. It would make sense to see just how much more to Andromeda there is and that the player can feel a sense of accomplishment for their discoveries.

1 What Are The Consequences Of The Choices Made In Andromeda?

One of the best things about the series are the tough decisions that need to be made and their consequences. While Andromeda did have some tough decisions, they did not have any lasting effects, at least not immediately.

Some choices made in the trilogy had to be waited on to see the consequences, like whether Wrex survived Virmire or if Shepard saved the council or not. Mass Effect 5 will need to do something similar in order to bring legitimate weight to Andromeda’s decisions.
