Scott Pilgrim’s return to storefronts has brought fans new and old together to enjoy a classic beat-’em up on a new generation of consoles. Taking on The League of Evil Exes is as entertaining as ever thanks to the Complete Edition’s expanded content and extra characters Knives Chau and Wallace Wells.

No matter how often fans of the game have played Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game, it’s easy to miss some of the game’s many secrets. It may take a second glance, but having such a detailed game makes for an irreplaceable experience.

10 Toronto Subspace

Secrets in Scott Pilgrim appear as early as World 1. Those who move along focusing on beating up baddies will miss the entrance to a bonus area. Right before the Shopping District, there is a garage door. Should Scott and his friends enter this door, they’ll be transported to the Subspace, an area filled with coin blocks and flying piggy banks. Breaking them all will reward players with substantial amounts of money that can be used to buy upgrades and items. With plenty of shops just ahead, this may get characters the funds they need for a coveted upgrade.

9 No Account Video

The game’s most expensive fee resides in the Shopping District’s No Account Video. Scott’s inability to return videos on time has led to this egregious item price tag. While it may seem outrageous at first, a player who foots the bill for Scott will find the game’s cheapest upgrades and items. With all items sporting a $4.95 price tag, those who plan on playing Scott Pilgrim for a while are advised to save up and dish out the cash necessary to buy from No Account Video.

8 Team Attacks

One of Scott Pilgrim’s best features is the ability to play the game in multiplayer, both online and locally. Up to four friends can enjoy this memorable beat-’em up together. What most don’t know is that this game offers unique moves for those playing in a group.

Should all participating players taunt at the same time, a special attack will ensue. The Team Attack is as flashy as it is powerful, taking down enemies around the group with the power of music!

7 Graphic Novel References

Those who read the Scott Pilgrim Graphic Novels are in for a treat. Enemies, areas, and even bosses have references from the source material only readers will recognize. One such reference is the death animation for Lucas Lee. When he dies, he rides off a rail and explodes, just like he did in both the movie and graphic novel. These little touches go a long way to show the depths that developers went through to stay faithful to the Scott Pilgrim franchise and bring joy to the fanbase.

6 Character Easter Eggs

Scott and his friends will see plenty of faces on their journey to take down The League of Evil Exes. While most of the people they encounter will be hostile, there are several background characters in each level. Some characters like Wallace Wells exist in the movie and the graphic novels, but some were exclusive to the graphic novel series. Characters like Mobile and Joseph make appearances for faithful followers of Scott Pilgrim’s adventures.

5 Halloween Party Subspace

Toronto’s Subspace may have been the first secluded area in the game, but it is far from the last. Immediately after starting World 6, the Twins, Kyle and Ken Katayanagi, storm off to the right. Instead of following them, check out the door with stars painted on it to find another Subspace entrance; this area is filled with more coin blocks and money for players to stash away. Hold onto these funds for items and upgrades characters need to power up. There’s even a secret shop out on the Fire Escape run by Scott’s parents to spend some coin.

4 Mobile’s Secret House

After taking the Twins down, Scott makes his way to The Park in World 6. Here, one of the most valuable purchases in the game lurks within a hidden shop. Keep an eye out for Wallace Wells, as just behind him is Mobile’s Secret House.

Hop between two trees with light shining between them and head to the far right. Apart from healing items, Mobile has Special Training, which unlocks a special move unique to each character. Knives’ upgrade allows her to throw exploding knives. Make sure to visit Mobile before moving on.

3 Nega Scott is Playable

At the end of World 6, players will face Nega Scott. This dark version of the protagonist is more powerful and versatile than any of the other characters. Some may be surprised to hear that he’s a hidden character that can be unlocked. Should players beat the game with all four of the base game’s characters, Nega Scott will become payable. Complete the game with Scott, Kim, Stephen, and Ramona to access this powerful boss. It may be time-consuming, but this is a character well worth the grind.

2 Techno Shack

The game’s final area, the Chaos Theater, is a harrowing experience for first-time players. With three bosses and hordes of enemies waiting to tear players apart, it can be hard to make it through in one go. Thankfully, the Techno Base has a hidden shop that can offer some needed aid before confronting the game’s final boss. Look out for a door with a red F on the outside of it. Here there are affordable HP items and Fighting Software that can boost all stats simultaneously.

1 Unique Character Endings

Beating the game is an achievement in itself, especially when 7 evil exes are standing between players and this occasion. Doing so with each character will let players see a new ending. While Knives’ ending sees her marrying Scott, Scott’s game ends with a harem of the game’s girls. Those interested in a handful of comical variations will want to complete the game several times. Make sure to beat the final boss with Scott, Ramona, Kim, Stephen, Wallace, and Knives to see all these silly conclusions.
