While Bugsnax initially seems like a straightforward game, there are a ton of hidden abilities, tricks, and activities that many players miss. Many of these tricks can help make it even easier to capture the last few snacks a gamer is missing or even make their commute around the island much easier.

Bugsnax was designed to be a game that let the player get a bit creative with solving puzzles so that they could catch all 100 creatures on the island. Some features are only found by complete accident, though, and most players aren’t lucky enough to stumble into them by accident.

10 You Can Use InchWraps to Fling Enemies

One of the best parts about capturing Bugsnax is getting creative in the environment. In the Sizzlin Sands, players can use the Inchwrap to knock around aggressive enemies, leaving them stunned. This is a great way to capture the Scorpepper, which is engulfed in flames.

Once a player gets it to climb down the walls, the Inchwrap can be used to push it towards the oasis.

9 You Can Attach The Trip Shot to Strabby

One of the most useful features for collecting Bugsnax in later levels is by using a combination of the trip shot and Strabby. To do this, a player needs to place the trip shot and then send out Strabby. Once Strabby is out, simply shoot the plunger onto the side of the ball to make a mobile trap.

This is one of the best ways for players to capture snaks when they get to the desert and snowy regions where it’s hard to use the trip shot.

8 Some Enemies Have Two Forms

One confusing feature in the game is that many snaks actually have two forms. These enemies are all aggressive and will need some slight puzzle solving to lure them into either water or fire. Once inside, a bomb icon will appear above their head, which will turn them into another snak.

If caught before this timer runs out, the player will have a completely different snak in their inventory that’s needed for completing the game.

7 You Get an Achievement For Saving Everyone

Most players went through the game, completing the missions and filling their Grumpsus with as many snaks as they could get their hands on. While this is completely understandable, it hurts them in the end game, when they have to have a perfect end run in order to save everyone.

Players that don’t lose any Grumpuses will be able to get final dialogue from each one, as well as earn a special achievement.

6 There is a Secret Passage

It’s very obvious that the game doesn’t have a fast travel option, which can be irritating for some players. To help make getting around the island a bit easier, the devs hid some small puzzles that open up quick travel paths. These paths connect Boiling Bay with the Sizzlin Sands by opening up a small tunnel between the two.

While every biome doesn’t have a quick travel path, this does make it just a bit easier to get around the map for most players.

5 Bugsnax Can Be Used as Projectiles

While most players are used to flinging their traps into the air, there is another way to knock down snaks. You can simply wait for an aggressive snak to be lured on top of the launchpad and then knock out two different snaks using one well-timed shot.

This is especially useful when dealing with the Sizzlin Sands and Scorched Gorge that have an abundance of flying and aggressive snaks.

4 Aggressive Snacks Are Great For Strategy

Not only are aggressive snaks perfect to use with your launchpad, but they are also great to use on the ground as well. Aggressive snaks can be led around the area and used to knock out pretty much any snak that walks into their eyesight, making them the perfect weapon for easy captures.

While many players are still seeing aggressive snaks as a nuisance, some pros have learned to harness their power in order to feel their inventory with snaks.

3 Elizabert Has a Sketchy Reputation

Elizabert is the whole reason that the protagonist ventures to the island in search of a story. If players did a bit deeper, though, they would notice that Elizabert doesn’t seem to have the best of reputations. It’s even implied that she may be considered a bit of a con artist from her previous ventures.

This may be one of the reasons that not many people came to the island with her and a big reason that no other journalists are wandering around.

2 The Theme Song is a Spoiler

One of the biggest surprises for players that are following the game is when they figure out exactly what the playful theme song is saying. As it turns out, the catchy tune is actually full of dark references that clearly tells the player the plot of the entire game, which is actually pretty dark.

The devs planned it this way, but even after beating the game, many players don’t connect the dots in the song.

1 Snorpy Knows The Truth

Out of all the characters on the island, the closest one to figuring out exactly what is going on is the paranoid Snorpy. If players decide to carefully examine the board in his mountain shack, they will learn that he actually came pretty close to figuring out exactly what was going on and the fact that the snaks are actually evil.

If Snorpy had a bit more time up in the mountains, he might have even stopped eating bugsnaks completely before he changed.
