This article contains spoilers for Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the Deep Stone Crypt raid.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light has made major changes to the franchise in both gameplay and lore. Mods have seen some large changes, a ton of lore has answered questions about the franchise that have existed since its inception, and the introduction of Stasis has made major changes to the franchise.

While these are rather obvious alterations, there are a few changes and secrets that many Guardians don’t know about. Ranging from collectible penguin toys to hidden Oracle sounds, here are ten things everyone completely missed in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

10 Penguin Souvenir

Just as the Dreaming City and the Moon have collectibles, so too does Europa have unique collectibles for you to find. Besides dead Exos and Entropic Shards, toy penguins are scattered throughout Europa and are required to obtain the Splinterer title.

Penguins are added to Europa every weekly reset. Since there are nine in total, players will need to wait until January 5th before every penguin can be obtained. Judging from the currently released penguins, there will be one Penguin Souvenir for every zone on Europa.

9 Beyond Camp Radio

Europa’s campsite in Beyond has more than collectibles to place. Outside of the camp lies a small campfire with a radio next to it. Standing near the radio will cause it to play unique dialogue from each of Destiny 2’s main characters.

Zavala, Ana Bray, Saint-14, and the Spider are just a few characters that have dialogue delivered through this radio. The next time you visit Beyond, stay awhile and listen to the radio.

8 Vex Emote Puzzle

Did you know that there’s a secret Vex puzzle on Europa that can only be completed by using emotes? This puzzle requires a massive amount of legwork but grants a powerful piece of Europa gear once a week.

To start it, wait for a blizzard to occur in the Eventide Ruins. Once the blizzard starts to dissipate, a message will state that an enemy is waiting out the storm. Head to the bottom right-most building in Eventide Ruins (it’s a massive storage building) to fight a Technorunner. He will grant the Riis-Reborn Key Codes buff on death.

Take the buff over to the Riis-Reborn Approach at the top part of the map. Head to the large arena where you obtain Salvation’s Grip and your second Aspect. Just before entering the room, turn around and look for a Scourge of the Past terminal to interact with. Using it will grant a signal buff that names off a certain location. For example, players can obtain the Cadmus Ridge Signal Buff when interacting with the terminal. Guardians would then head over to Cadmus Ridge and head towards the massive Vex structure to the right of the Perdition Lost Sector entrance. There should be a Vex pylon you can interact with near the base of the structure, starting the puzzle.

Four sections of the puzzle must be cleansed by using an emote. Stand on a plate near the side of the puzzle and use an emote that corresponds with that side—down on the D-pad/down arrow for the bottom part, left on the D-pad/left arrow for the left part of the puzzle, etc. Follow the brightest-glowing pyramid on the floor to find out which side to cleanse. Cleansing all four plates will grant a powerful piece of Europa gear.

7 Player Character Voice Actor Changes

The player character in Destiny 2 has a unique voice actor based on their gender and race. In Forsaken and Shadowkeep, the player character was voiced by the following voice actors:

Beyond Light is currently the only expansion in Destiny 2 that only has two unique voice actors for the player character. All male PCs are voiced by Peter Jessop while female PCs are voiced by Zehra Fazal. If you wondered why your male human sounded like an Exo or why your female Exo sounded human, this is why.

It is currently unknown if this is a bug or intentional decision by Bungie. The previous two expansions, Forsaken and Shadowkeep, were unaffected by this change.

6 Augment Bray Challenges

The Deep Stone Crypt raid’s augment mechanic has made its way to Europa after the Morning Star crashed onto the icy moon. Certain enemies in eclipsed zones will carry augments with them that can be grabbed to complete special augment challenges. Nine must be completed for the Splinterer title.

5 Eramis Is Alive

Despite what the end of Beyond Light’s campaign might imply, Eramis is not dead. The boss fight with her ends when she reaches around 5% of her health bar, wherein she becomes frozen solid. Since she didn’t make an appearance in the Deep Stone Crypt raid, there is a good chance that Eramis will be seen again in a future season or expansion.

4 Trials Of Osiris Is A Simulation

Now that Mercury has been consumed by the Darkness, how are Guardians able to visit the Lighthouse when they go flawless in Trials of Osiris? The Immolant Pt. 1 lore entry reveals that Trials of Osiris is a simulation.

In the lore entry, Saint-14 asks Osiris if he can use the Crucible or the Trials of Osiris, to which Osiris replies, “I will. Long enough to show you how to implement the simulation…” That explains why Guardians can fight on planets currently in the Destiny Content Vault and how the Lighthouse still exists.

3 Why Exos Have Human Traits

Some Destiny fans have wondered why Exos, a race of robots, have masculine and feminine features. They are also capable of eating, which seems odd considering they aren’t organic.

Dead Exos scattered throughout Europa reveal that Clovis Bray originally built every Exo exactly the same. When organics were transferred to their Exo body, their brains would reject it since certain body parts and organic functions were missing. The first generation of Exos were perpetually tired, starved, and uncomfortable in their new bodies. As a result, Exos were given bodies more personalized to make the transition much less jarring. One of Clovis Bray’s daughters, Elizabeth, received the first Exo frame that was based on her human body.

2 Taniks Is Still Alive

Taniks has been slain countless times in the Destiny franchise. He was defeated in the Prison of Elders, killed while he was a Nightmare on the Moon, and has now been bested in his half-Shank form during the Deep Stone Crypt raid.

Before you celebrate killing him off for the final time, Taniks seems to have survived the Deep Stone Crypt’s final encounter. Killing Taniks during the final encounter will cause him to laugh for a few seconds before he disappears, highly suggesting that he has not been bested just yet. If Taniks can survive a space station crashing into Europa, there’s a good chance he survived the final raid encounter.

1 Oracle Sounds

Bungie mentioned in various ViDocs and TWABs that the original Destiny’s Vault of Glass raid will make its way to Destiny 2 sometime in 2021. It seems that VoG is being teased in-game through the Last Wish raid.

Players have noticed that VoG’s Oracles can be heard during certain sections in the Last Wish raid. Oracles were first heard in the geode tunnel just before the Kalli fight, which then shifted to the bridge before Shuro Chi a week later. Week three introduced Oracle sounds during the path of Morgeth as well. It seems VoG might be tied to the Dreaming City curse or even Wish 15.
