Many players enjoyed the nostalgic revisiting of Resident Evil 3, and with this highly anticipated remake came many new things added on to the original content. With so many alleyways and dead bodies in the RE3 remake it’s likely that many players missed a bunch of interesting things that were hidden from the player in unlikely areas.
Players will learn about 10 things they may have missed from the Resident Evil 3 remake while reading this list. From early reports of the virus to wooden crates hidden throughout the world, here are 10 things that players completely missed while playing the RE3 remake!
10 Newsstand
When leaving the subway station the player will see a newsstand, it appears as mainly an aesthetic touch, however, it also has a newspaper on the counter that the player is able to read.
The newspaper reports on an early zombie killing. At the time of the article people didn’t realize that it was zombies so they figured that it was just a crazed cannibal. It’s very interesting to read about how people reacted to first seeing the virus in action and how they didn’t realize it wasn’t just cannibalism. Players shouldn’t miss this detailed newspaper but most, unfortunately, do!
9 Safe With Dot Sight Handgun Upgrade
Near the Donut shop, Jill can enter a room with a journal and a safe. The safe combination is 9 left, 3 right, 7 left. The safe contains a useful handgun modification called the Dot Sight and it can help players aim better against those pesky swaying zombies and that giant brute Nemesis!
The safe in this room is often passed by because players don’t initially understand how to find the combination. The journal discusses how the writer is scared of how the virus is progressing. The safe combination is found on the Aqua Cure poster inside of the pharmacy.
8 Murphy’s Journal
After entering a room a soldier appears to have gotten bit and pleads with the player not to kill them. Nikolai then shoots him in the head mid-sentence. It is sad to think he didn’t even get any real last words.
The soldier’s journal can be found which discusses his past including how he was a convicted murderer and was recruited by the UBCS. The journal is very interesting and although he was a murderer he still didn’t deserve to die in the way he did. The journal is easy to miss because most players don’t move close up to his body after he dies and search the area, they just keep moving on.
7 Kendo’s Shop
Kendo appears as an old friend of Jill and he shows up in his gun store after the first big fight the player has with Nemesis. He gives Jill the key to his back alley gate and allows her to pass through to get to the next part of the level.
Although the player can’t miss Kendo completely they can miss two other things. The Semi-Auto Shotgun modification on one of the shelves in the store is missed by so many players, which is unfortunate because it’s very powerful. The other thing players miss about him is some dialogue he has outside behind his shop. He’s inside of a shed building and he talks to someone - or something, calling it a good girl in a sweet voice. It sounds like he may have a dog, or perhaps a person close to him got infected and he kept them as a zombie.
6 Wooden Crates
In the RE3 remake there are wooden crates that players can demolish by hitting or shooting them with weapons. They always have an item for the player to pick up once destroyed, such as spare ammunition, or an herb.
They are extremely easy to miss because they are somewhat hidden. The player can find them in buildings or in the street, usually behind another object out of sight. Many fans missed quite a few of these useful crates throughout the game. Players will want to break every crate that they can so they can get ahold of all the useful combat items that they have inside!
5 Note Written By The Creator Of The Sewer Monsters
The note details many things, but the summary of it is that the writer took the monsters and ran because Umbrella wanted them to destroy the creatures. According to the note, the monsters are weak to heat and are very exposed when their mouths are open.
This information is useful and players will not want to miss out on reading this fascinating journal entry. The writer has clearly gone crazy, given that they’re obsessed with these terrifying monsters that would probably eat them whole if given the chance.
4 Police Station Safe
The police station safe is easy to pass because the room housing it is not necessary to enter to complete the level. The safe is in a small police officer’s office. The safe combination is left 9, right 15, left 7.
Players definitely want to stop by the office to open the safe because it contains a hip pouch that gives Carlos two extra inventory spaces. More inventory slots are never a bad thing, as any skilled RE3 remake player knows. It’s a quick stop while exploring the station but it’s a shame that many players pass the room and safe so easily.
3 Subway Employees Memo
This memo contains useful information on how to obtain the shotgun and many players don’t even enter the room where the journal and shotgun are located. The memo tells the player that the shotgun is chained up which then reveals that it requires bolt cutters to obtain.
This room is located in the Kite Bros. Station, and it’s very easy to miss because the door leading to it is out of the way. This is a place that players will not want to pass up because getting the shotgun early turns the player into a powerhouse!
2 Chad’s Journal
During the segment of the game where Jill must activate the power breakers, the player will come across a few different notes written by Chad. He details the bugs attacking him and this gives the player valuable information about them before having to fight them.
In his final note, Chad says goodbye to anyone reading it and reveals that after being attacked once again he doesn’t believe he’ll live much longer. This is an interesting story that a lot of players missed, which is very unfortunate because it’s one of the most in-depth side stories in the game.
1 UBCS Soldier Suicide Note
This emotional note details the experience of a soldier that came into the city expecting easy work, but was met with the death of his peers within 48 short hours of arriving there. He couldn’t take everything that was happening so he decided to commit suicide.
After having dealt with everything that he had it’s no surprise that this was the outcome. This note is one of the saddest things in the entirety of the RE3 remake and a lot of players missed it because they had to travel down an alleyway to get to his body, a bit out of the way of conventional pathing. This is an emotional note that will stay with the players that happen to come across it for a very long time.
