Getting the best experience out of Scarlet Nexus’ first few hours requires some tips. For example, there are certain skills in the Brain Map for Yuito and Kasane that should be bought before everything else. One of these skills is Rebound which allows these heroes to get up quickly after getting knocked down.
Then there are tips that only those who have beaten and/or mastered the game would know about. Some may seem obvious to those who discovered them early but others may be a bit more obscure. Flex your pro clout by seeing which ones you already knew about and which ones are new.
10 You Can Control The Event Camera
It may seem odd that Scarlet Nexus is told almost exclusively in manga-style cut sequences. What may not be known is that the camera angle can be shifted around. Players can zoom in or out of these cutscenes as they so please.
Moving the camera won’t add a lot to the experience of the game but it is still an interesting fact worth pointing out. Some fans would say that moving the camera would adversely affect the immersion while others might revel in the power.
9 Pay Attention To The Map
When exploring a dungeon, it’s always useful to look at the map. Not because it tells players where to go but because it shows them where NOT to go. For example, if there is a crossroad leading to a dead end it would be wise to go there first.
These dead ends usually have secrets hiding in them or even rare items. Keeping track of the map like this makes the fear of backtracking nonexistent.
8 Calculating The In-Game Clock
This game behaves differently than some other modern PS5 games. If one were to back out of Scarlet Nexus onto the PS5 home screen, the in-game clock will still be calculating. That doesn’t happen for a lot of games as backing out is often treated as an actual pause.
For those who wish to keep track of how long it takes them to beat the game, it is recommended not to idle on the PS5 screen for too long.
7 Skip The Quests
There are not too many quests in Scarlet Nexus that one could call worthwhile from a story perspective. The rewards are good but some players may find that they feel like filler. Some are best left to complete for after beating the game. But you won’t find special side quests like something out of The Witcher 3’s quest log.
Most of the quests in Scarlet Nexus are relegated to fetch quests. Skipping them won’t be detrimental to the experience if you only care about the story of the game.
6 Save Often, Save Multiple Files
Many modern RPGs allow players to save anywhere like in Final Fantasy VII Remake. This game has dedicated save points which is fine, but not ideal for gamers on a schedule. There are also auto-saves that are good for the most part but sometimes they lag behind.
There’s no way to check when Scarlet Nexus last saved automatically unless one was paying attention to the corner of the screen. Since the game features a bunch of empty slots, it is recommended to save as often as possible and to always keep backup files.
5 Pay Attention To Items Out Of Reach
This game is not a Metroidvania but it can sometimes feel like one. That’s because Yuito and Kasane can gain powers from the Brain Map that allow them to literally reach new heights like the double jump. New companions can also open up new pathways like Luka whose powers allow the player to warp through certain grates.
These new powers enable players to reach areas or items they couldn’t before. So definitely pay attention to items that seem impossible to get. Writing these areas down will make it easier to remember where one should travel back to after a new power is acquired.
4 Save Exchanges For Gifts
Scarlet Nexus does not have a lot of rare weapons and armor one can find or buy. Instead, rare materials are random collectibles that seem like junk at first. These items can be used in the exchange section of the store which is basically a trading post. An example of a trade might be one apple for four screws. That doesn’t apply to the game’s lore but it’s still a fine example.
It might be tempting to buy random items but it is best to save all materials in order to exchange them for gifts. Getting every gift from this section is the easiest way to fully power up Kasane and or Yuito. There is nothing like the power of friendship in Scarlet Nexus.
3 You Can Cancel Powers
In one of Scarlet Nexus’ many tutorials, it explains that players can disengage the SAS system at will. On the PlayStation consoles, that entails pressing R1 plus R3. That cancels all SAS activations.
However, one may not realize that it is possible to disengage SAS links individually. Simply tap R1 plus whatever that power is activated to like the triangle button. For example, one may only need to slow down time for a few seconds but wish to keep their fire powers active.
2 Party Members Can Be Swapped
In many RPGs players can only swap party members at a base or save points. That is not the case for this game. Players can swap out members at will – even in the middle of battle. Scarlet Nexus doesn’t do a great job of explaining this properly.
Because other games don’t function this way, Scarlet Nexus players may not even try to swap party members. But the option comes in handy when a teammate is about to die like in a boss fight.
1 The Second Time Will Be Easier
Beating Scarlet Nexus once is only the beginning of experiencing all the game has to offer. In order to properly understand everything in the game, one needs to play it twice. Thankfully, there is a new game plus that carries over all items and experience to the other character making the next playthrough a breeze.
For example, if a player starts with Yuito and ends at 58, they can start a new game with Kasane at 58. Knowing this before jumping in should alleviate a little stress off the brain.
