Story of Season: Pioneers of Olive Town is a great addition to the series that pushes the farming sim genre even further. Olive Town is a fun, vibrant location that is filled with unique characters to meet and befriend. There are ten marriage candidates to choose from, tons of crops to grow, and you can customize your farm.
While there is a lot to do in the bustling little tourist location, players have begun to notice some things that just don’t make sense about Olive Town. The ten things below have left players dazed and confused about this seemingly charming community.
10 Blaire’s Workplace
If you have met Blaire then you know she lives in the hotel, with her parents that own it and work at the cafe. This is actually pretty strange when you think about it as she works for her mom’s completion. Why wouldn’t Blaire won’t too help her family with their growing business?
On top of that, why doesn’t she do anything outside of going to work and then head straight home?
9 Unlocked Houses
Olive Town may just be the most trusting community that the Story of Seasons series has ever seen. You can enter houses when no one is home, even if it’s a shop with tons of items on display. This doesn’t seem smart for a town that gets tons of strange tourists visiting its shores each day.
Just how trusting are the people around town, and how do they deal with all that item loss at the end of the day?
8 Motorcycles on Stairs
Olive Town is not made to be vehicle-friendly as there are tons of stairs everywhere. This doesn’t stop you and three other townsfolk from riding their bikes all over the place, which can’t be good for the wheels of the motorcycle. If you have ever ridden a motorcycle, you know they aren’t made to do steps.
The next thing the mayor needs to look into is actually putting in some vehicle-friendly roads.
7 The Olive Town Meals
No matter what time of day you visit, you will notice that everyone in town is always eating the same meal. While fish is a main export of Olive Town, you think they would at least have some eggs for breakfast. Even when you order a meal at the cafe, you will look like you’re eating fish.
Maybe the town just knows how to make their fish taste like a wide range of foods?
6 Rapid Tree Growth
Something about the soil in Olive Town seems to act as super fertilizer for plant life. Trees will literally grow to full-size in days, and the grass is nearly uncontrollable. It’s hard to keep a neat and tidy farm when every day you wake up; more plant life has begun to sneak its way into your fields.
Just what type of plant species naturally grow in Olive Town, and how does the town control them?
5 The Lack of a Clinic
It’s safe to say that Olive Town is a well-developed place; they even have a pretty classy hotel. One thing that many players have noticed is missing is a place for medical work to be done. There is no town doctor, no clinic, and it seems like Olive Town is pretty well isolated.
What does this town do when they have a child or get sick, and who is taking care of them?
4 The Museum Being Open
When you first arrive in Olive Town, they have a pretty nice museum built and open. Despite the fact that no one ever seems to visit the museum, outside of the three women who work there and the town has done little to nothing to help expand their exhibits, it stays open.
Even when you do begin to donate, it’s not like anyone else in the town ever gets interested enough to visit.
3 Grandpa’s House
When you first arrive in town, you set up a tent and begin to repair the building around your grandpa’s farm. How is it, though, that there is completely nothing left of his house, but everything else is still somewhat standing? There isn’t even a pile of wood lying around where it should be.
It makes players wonder just what happened to his house and where all the furniture went.
2 The Pet Store
There is a full-fledged pet store open in town, but no one else really seems to have pets. They do race them for the pet festival, but outside of that, no one you visit has any animals lounging around. You would think that you would at least see another cat in one of the shops.
This makes many players wonder how the pet store in town actually stayed open before they arrived.
1 Child Supervision
It seems that the children in Olive Town spend more time in other villagers’ homes and care than they do their parents. Linh is often seen with the children, as is Iori. There isn’t a school either, and it seems like both Cindy and Mikey are mostly left to do whatever they want.
This even means that they can visit anyone in town, even if their parents never seem to interact with them.
