The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle has brought a huge amount of new features to Simmers’ games. As well as two new careers there is also a new world, a game-wide eco-footprint system, new community lot types, community action plans, new crafting skills, and much more.

However, along with some really great new systems come some really confusing additions. Not everything is logical in The Sims 4 and this expansion is no exception. Some of these crazy features are by design but others we’re not so sure about. Here are some things that make no sense at all about The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle.

10 Knox Won’t Go To The Bathroom

If you’ve played the Greenburg family for any length of time you’ll notice that Knox won’t ever pee. The reason for this is mostly because the bathroom at the bottom of his high rise bedroom tower is totally inaccessible. The ladder blocks the door so the location of the toilet or sink and the door need to be swapped.

There is another bathroom on the lot in the main house but he appears to absolutely refuse to use this and the action repeatedly times out. It makes us think he did something that got him banned from using the other bathroom.

9 We Wear Bags

Everyone in town voluntarily wearing paper bags is the most nonsensical thing that’s purposefully built into the game, except maybe for the jeans and skirt combo we last saw in the 1990s. However, it’s also one of the most fun, so this one we are thankful for.

This neighborhood action plan is easily implemented and sees all your sims donning paper bags as hats. The bags have different designs and watching sims singing, dancing, running, cycling, and more, all with bags on their heads is incredibly funny. Then once you’re bored simply repeal the action plan. Easy.

8 Dumpster Dimensions

While dumpster diving is a fantastic way to find resources, furniture, and food the process itself makes absolutely no sense. Firstly, how do all these items fit in those dumpsters? A double bed, fridge, and shower all in one tiny dumpster? That in itself is mind-bending before we even get into why people are throwing some of these things away.

We love the thought of finding scratched, broken, and burned items and repairing and restoring them but why are people throwing away bikes? And what about that crafted furniture? Why make it and then throw it away?

7 Bess And Jules’ House

One thing you need to know about Bess and Jules’ house is that its extra in every way, except when it comes to common sense. While the downstairs looks great, with a nice kitchen dining area and lounge, upstairs is completely nonsensical.

The second floor contains a ridiculously oversized open plan bedroom with a seating area and ensuite bathroom. The third floor then contains another ridiculously oversized bedroom with a desk in it. Finally, the top floor contains a fabricator and fizzer. That means that this gigantic four-story home has four seating areas, no privacy, and just one bathroom.

6 The Balcony For Apartment 404

In one of the apartment buildings, there are two almost identical apartments but one has a balcony and slightly larger rooms. This prestigious apartment, which costs twice as much to rent as the one next door, has the most bizarre balcony you’ll ever see.

You can look at your balcony and you can walk out onto it but you cannot place any items on it. You can’t even place flooring on either the balcony of the path to get to your front door to make them match the rest of the building’s balconies.

SimGuruPaul recently explained that the reason is something to do with the code but it still makes no sense. At least let the top floor have the flooring upgrade their neighbors got, even if the balcony is static.

5 Everything Is Recyclable

If you own it, you can recycle it. Trash, flowers, plates, furniture, and everything in between. Virtually every single thing that goes into your inventory is recyclable. The only thing we’ve found that can’t be recycled is homework, sadly.

We can understand being able to recycle trash and even furniture but we’ve confused as to how recycling fruit and flowers work. Surely they should go into the bug houses? While we’re at it we’re also confused about how everything comes out in a nice neat cube the exact same size.

4 Lighting Can Completely Destroy Your Generator

Thunderstorms in this pack somehow feel more overpowered than ever before. Not only do they cause the usual issues but they can also break your energy generation items. We’re unsure if this is linked to the ecosystem but those annoyed by it may want to turn off storms in the settings.

Green energy fairs better as storms appear to break these items but they remain fixable. However, if you own a generator then watch out as if struck it will be rendered completely useless, unable even to be fixed by regular means.

3 The Pack Has A Bath But No Shower

Eco Lifestyle is all about being green, saving water, and conserving power. So why does the bathroom set come with a very eco-friendly toilet that you can turn into a compost toilet but not a shower?

Showers use far less water than baths, yet a bath is the only option available in the new bathroom set. It just doesn’t make sense, especially since the set doesn’t even vaguely match the available showers.

2 Recycle Disciples Can Be Wasteful

If you have a sim that’s a recycle disciple then you need to make sure you regularly recycle your trash, random food, or all those glasses of water sims like to drink. Otherwise, your sim could end up costing you simoleons.

These sims love to recycle so much that if they haven’t done it for a while then they just recycle anything they can lay their hands on. This can end up being very expensive and annoying. It also makes no sense as recycling is supposed to save the environment, not require you to buy more things.

1 Townies In The Trash

What would you think if you saw Father Winter rummaging in dumpsters and planting kisses on Knox? How about vampires and spellcasters managing community lots? Once again random townies will come to the new world and take up jobs they really shouldn’t have. Vampires don’t belong in community gardens and Father Winter shouldn’t be scavaging for food.

These nonsensical townie interactions are a long-standing annoyance that still makes no sense. Townies should stay in the world they belong to. Why can I now stop Vlad from entering my house but I still can’t prevent him from becoming a bartender?
