The new free game Crucible has many game modes and mechanics that set it apart from other FPS games that have released in the past. With so many different new mechanics introduced in this game, there are sure to be some tips that players could use to improve their skills upon first jumping into the competitive game modes.
There are some things that players completely missed upon booting up the game for the first time and others that seem obvious, but many players aren’t as wary of in the heat of battle. These things are important to learn before jumping into Crucible for the first time.
10 The Tutorial Can Be Played More Than Once
The tutorial in Crucible is quite in-depth, and it teaches players a lot of the basics that they will encounter in the actual game. However, it is easy to forget a lot of the things that the tutorial teaches players, so if a player wants to replay it, then they have that option.
Players can head into the game mode section and select the tutorial to play it again. This is a very important thing to mention because a lot of players don’t think that they can revisit the tutorial mode, but they actually can.
9 Damage Enemies While They’re Healing
Attacking enemies while they’re using a health kit will immediately stop them from using the kit, and they will not be able to heal any longer. This will allow the player to ambush them while they may have low help, and it’s worth looking out for enemies that may be healing up.
It is likely that an enemy that is in the middle of using a health kit has half or less than half of their max health, and that is the perfect time to swoop in and quickly earn a kill for their team.
8 Stay Close To Teammates At All Times
Teammates in Crucible are essential, and it is important to stay close to them because one player can easily be picked off by two or more enemies. Other team-based shooters don’t have this problem because players can employ a bunch of different abilities to take out multiple players at once easily; however, abilities such as those are not present in Crucible for the most part.
This tip applies to every game mode that is currently in Crucible, and players should not stray far from their teammates, especially in the heart of the Hive.
7 Staying Back And Sneaking Up On Enemies Is The Best Way To Win Alpha Hunters
Sneaking up on enemies is a great way to win the Alpha Hunters game mode, and sneaking is especially useful if the player is pretending to be in an alliance with an enemy. It can be very tricky to get kills in Alpha Hunters because a lot of the players are more competitive, and as such casual players have much less luck taking them on.
By sneaking up on enemies, players will catch them by surprise, and it is even better if the player is third partying enemies while using a sniper character such as Ajonah.
6 If A Fight Can’t Be Won, Retreat
Retreating may not seem like something that a pro player would actively choose to do in most team-based shooter FPS games; however, in Crucible, it is sometimes the only way to recuperate health and end up becoming victorious in the fight.
Because of the presence of health kits within Crucible, players will want to run away and attempt to heal up before continuing their battle. This is worth noting because too many players think that they need to stay in a fight for their honor; however, that just isn’t the way that Crucible works.
5 Every New Player Starts With 1000 Credits, So The Battle Pass Is Technically Free
Most players don’t realize that they start with 1000 credits, and they can use them to buy the first battle pass for absolutely no cost at all. This is important because a lot of players feel they need some form of a reward system, but they aren’t yet sold on the game, and they don’t want to actually spend money on it.
4 Try Out Every Character Before Picking A Main
It is tempting to continue to use the character that the player used in the tutorial once the player actually hops into a competitive game mode; however, this is definitely not the option that a skilled player should be choosing.
It is essential in Crucible to be try out every character before picking a main because there are so many distinct abilities that are completely separate from each other in both damage and effects. For example, Summer’s flame thrower is completely different from Ajonah’s sniper, and plays will learn that by trying out every character that the game has to offer, which is currently ten.
3 Stay Stocked Up On Health Kits
This may seem obvious, but in the middle of battle, it can be difficult to remember to stop for med kit stations when one pops up around the map. While traversing the map, players should make sure to obtain as many health kits as they can, which is capped at three so that they can easily defeat enemies and heal up once they have low health.
Healing is very important in Crucible, more so than in other FPS games, and the amount of damage that certain characters such as Earl deal to the player is very large, which is why it is worth snagging these whenever the chance is given.
2 Farming Essence Is Key
Farming essence is the key to winning in Crucible. Whatever player has obtained the most essence will find that they are able to deal more damage and defeat their enemies in a more swift manner than the opposite team.
Specifically, in the Heart of the Hive game mode, players should attempt to kill AI monsters while traversing the map to earn essence for themselves before heading to the first hive in the match.
1 Pay Very Close Attention To Hive Spawns
Hive spawns in the Heart of the Hive game mode are very tricky because they are so easy to miss. Unfortunately, hives are very quiet when they pop up around the layout of the map, and fans sometimes miss the action that entails once the battle for the heart commences between the two teams.
If players are missing from the main objective of the game mode, the battle for the heart, then that player’s team will surely lose, and that is easily avoided by paying great attention to the timer that is set on the hive. Staying around the hive is also a good idea, but make sure to be hiding behind a structure to stay out of the view of the enemy team.
