Consumers are enthralled by the Xbox Series X. The system has already seen an improved launch over the Xbox One, even in countries outside of the US. Microsoft has said the system is its biggest console launch in the United Kingdom to date.

While marketing and reception are clearer for Microsoft’s newest console than its predecessor, the new features of the Xbox Series X are the main reason for increased purchases. The newest Xbox iteration creates an improved gaming experience while giving players access to most of their Xbox library from each generation. Xbox’s newest generation offers a multitude of features to optimize player experience.

10 Optimize Games For Better Performance

With Next-Gen Upgrades, games purchased for the Xbox One are not only playable on the Xbox Series X, but further optimized for it. Thanks to Smart Delivery, the best version of the game is available to the player no matter when the game was purchased.

This means that all optimized upgrades afforded to next-generation players are automatically applied on the Series X, including 4k capability and Ultra HD settings. The console can even transfer data from your Xbox One over a local network to prevent losing any in-game progress.

9 Run Games At Up To 120 FPS And 4k Resolution

Thanks to the jump forward in technology brought with next-generation systems like the Xbox Series X, resolutions and frame rates are seeing massive improvements unilaterally. Games like Gears 5 are capable of running at an incredible 120 Frames Per Second.

Several other games, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, also promise to provide 4k Ultra HD resolutions. The Xbox Series X sports the most powerful hardware this generation, making it the optimal choice for those seeking to maximize graphical output.

8 Play Games Across All Xbox Generations

Whether or not players buy the Xbox Series X with several of the new games launching on the console, there are plenty of options available to new owners. The Xbox Series X allows players to play a vast array of games from Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even the original Xbox at improved graphics quality.

Inserting a disc or selecting the preferred title in a digital library will boot up the game without having to switch to a previous console. Players will even be able to play online games cross-generation permitting it is supported by the developer.

7 Improved Hardware And Networking Capabilities

The Xbox Series X is the most powerful next-generation console on the market. With a 12 Teraflop GPU, it is substantially stronger than the PlayStation 5’s 10.28 Teraflops by comparison. With this processing power, games will load faster and look better than before, even with older titles.

With improved networking features built into the system, games will even download at a fraction of the Xbox One’s capped speed thanks to more responsive networking hardware. This ensures players can take full advantage of download speeds going forward.

6 Output in HDR

The Xbox Series X takes full advantage of High Dynamic Range output along with 4k capabilities. With HDR, the Series X is able to provide further graphical enhancements. Deeper coolers, higher contrasts, and more visibility in games are a handful of these improvements.

Most games will automatically detect if you are using an HDR-compatible display and enable it. Pairing this with a 4k display offers a more detailed and enriched view of the graphics.

5 Lower Input Latency

With all the power afforded to the Xbox Series X, it’s important to note that some improvements take place outside of the console. Thanks to faster input scanning, the controller response time has been reduced to 2 milliseconds for each capture.

With software integrated into the system, players will have almost instant feedback thanks to Dynamic Latency Input. Displays will also automatically target a low latency and support up to 120 FPS with HDMI 2.1. This more responsive HDMI enables Instant Synchronization between the Series X and TV.

4 Quick Resume

Thanks to the brand new Xbox Velocity Architecture, players are able to switch between up to five games in seconds. Dubbing this new feature Quick Resume, the Xbox Series X allows you to queue up several games, and continue them within seconds.

Players can continue from their previous pause screens without delay. While not all games are able to use this feature just yet, those that can allow the Series X to load these games as if they had never been closed, with the exception of multiplayer games.

3 Ray Tracing

With the Xbox Series X, Ray Tracing has become a staple of the next generation experience. Ray Tracing enables the console to track the path of light more accurately throughout the environment. With accurate tracking, more realistic light patterns can be charted in games.

These new patterns will more closely resemble how light acts in the real world. This technology lets light to ricochet off of objects and create reflections. Because of a more accurate light depiction, shadows are more defined and believable than before.

2 Variable Rate Shading

With the graphic fidelity improvement on the Xbox Series X, Variable Rate Shading is now possible. This tool allows developers to better utilize the power of the Xbox Series X and focus on specific effects in games rather than manually inputting each individual pixel.

Variable Rate Shading fills in these graphical gaps effectively. This means environmental objects, items, and characters can be displayed more vibrantly with less effort than before. Optimizing with Variable Rate Shading allows games to be played at higher framerates with this improved visual quality.

1 Project X Cloud Gaming

Project X Cloud Gaming allows Xbox game owners to play a collection of Xbox titles on their Android Smart Phone so long as they are subscribed to Xbox Games Pass Ultimate. The next step in a new phase of Cloud-powered gaming for Microsoft is to give players the option to play Xbox games no matter where they are.

While this feature is currently in the Beta phase, players who are accepted can select one of over 100 games to play while away from home and their Xbox Series X.
