Spellbreak only came out a few months ago, but it already has a big community of players casting spells at each other every single day. With four different game modes and new concepts to the genre, this Battle Royale is set to compete with other popular games like Fortnite.
It’s still too early to see if Spellbreak will be the next hit or if it’s just a quick trend, but while it’s here, those who like action-spellcasting games have a new game to try on. Here are some useful tips to be the best Breaker in the Hollow Lands when you’re playing this spellcasting game.
10 Use The Runes
While Gauntlets grant players up to four abilities they can use, you can only equip one Rune. All the Runes available in the game will be useful at one point or another; you just have to be smart and strategize your game plan.
For example, the Teleportation and Flight Runes are excellent for the early stages of the game as they will help you travel across the map faster, so you can gather loot in no time. However, towards the end of the game, these runes will only buy you some time to recover and not more than that. Learn about the different runes and see what works better for you.
9 Choose Gauntlets According To Your Playstyle
While all Gauntlets are powerful and can even be upgraded, it is normal that players get overwhelmed with options when they have to select which type they want to use and, therefore, which type of magic to cast.
Each elemental magic works differently, so it is best if you choose a Gauntlet according to the playstyle you’re most comfortable with. For example, The Frost Gauntlet works similarly to a sniper, so if you have really good aim and can move around the map quickly, this is the one for you.
8 Work The Terrain
Any Battle Royale pro player understands that knowing the map can be the difference between losing or winning. In Spellbreak, players will move both horizontally and vertically, so be sure to look up to catch in time any threat that’s coming your way.
You can also use the terrain to your advantage! Need a safe place to heal or rest for a little while? Use the bushes to hide from nearby enemies.
7 Learn About Gauntlet Combos
Unlike other Battle Royale games, Spellbreak’s attacks rely on magic, and to gather that power, your character has to use powerful Gauntlets. You can use up to two, and each one corresponds to a type of elemental magic.
The exciting part comes when you learn how to combine each Gauntlet’s type of magic to create new effects or give an attack one property of another. For example, by using Toxic and Ice Gauntlet’s Combos, you can turn ice puddles into toxic puddles.
6 Learn Each Class Strength, But Also Its Weakness
When you start playing Spellbreak, all you want to know is how to be the best in the class you just chose. However, you can see this game as a huge game of paper, rock, and scissors, meaning that while each type of elemental magic has its strengths, it also has something that makes it weak.
Learning about these will help you with spell combos; after all, knowing the weakness of your primary Gauntlet will let you know which one to pick as a secondary. Moreover, it will also help you fight better against other players and their magic.
5 Build Your Character Around The Class You Chose
The class players choose at the start of the match will determine what kind of spells they can cast in their primary hand. They can look around the map and find other Gauntlets to use as a secondary. You can also add to your character build by using one Rune and unlocking Talents.
Each class operates differently, so there isn’t a Rune or a Gauntlet that will work well with all of the classes. Therefore, learn which type of character build works better for you. For example, Frostborn class works better with the Flight, Shadowstep, or Featherfall Runes. With this class, you should use the Focused Mana, Foresight, or Thirsty talents. Finally, complement the Frostborn Gauntlet with the Stone, Toxic, or Fire Gauntlet.
4 Coordinate With Your Other Teammates
Each player can choose their class before the match. After that, you’ll need to find Gauntlets scattered around the world to have access to new types of spellcasting.
Seeing as Spellbreak is a game that focuses on combining different Gauntlets, coordinate your character builds with the ones your teammates have. By doing so, your team will have all the other Gauntlets combos and amplify the damage you can do.
3 Talents Are There For A Reason
While playing, you can unlock Talents that provide an edge during the fight. The game will give out a total of six talent points that can then be spent on one talent per category (Mind, Body, and Spirit). While it is up to you how to spend these points, it is also possible to pick none of the talents in a specific category.
Players get access to these talents from the beginning of the match, and they can upgrade them up to three times. To do that, gamers will have to read Scrolls from the same category as the selected talent.
2 Pay Attention To Mana
If it weren’t for mana, Spellbreak would have a bunch of overpowered players running around, casting spells with zero consequences. But this isn’t the case, and everything costs mana, from primary attacks to levitating al power comes with a price.
To succeed, you’ll have to learn how to manage your mana, unless you want to get stuck in a situation where you can’t escape or cannot cast a spell.
1 Learn The Difference Between A Spell And A Sorcery
No matter the type of elemental magic, each Gauntlet can cast Spells and Sorceries. Both of them are super useful in battle and can be combined with other elements in many ways. Keep in mind that the elements’ interactions are universal; this means that any player can interact with other elements regardless of who cast them first.
Generally speaking, Spells work better as a direct attack while Sorceries are for defensive tactics. Of course, this isn’t set in stone, so feel free to use your gauntlet magic as you see fit. Moreover, the other main difference between these two is that Spells have no cooldown but require mana, while Sorceries do have cooldowns but don’t require mana to be cast.
