The Castlevania anime started in 2017 and had a better than average run on Netflix. It is one of the most faithful adaptations of a video game to date from both the anime side of things as well as live-action content. The developers did a pretty good job at wrapping up each season’s plot along with dangling some nuggets for the future seasons.

While that is also mostly true for this fourth and final season, it also felt like they were rushed. That is to say, there are a lot of questions that will remain unanswered so get ready to jump into spoiler town to find out what they are.

10 Some Season Three Questions Remain Unanswered

Season three of the anime left a lot of unanswered questions on the table. Unfortunately, three major ones were never looked into in this season of the anime. One was the lack of Grant Danasty from the games, who many think was replaced by Greta. Then there was Miranda and The Captain who helped out Isaac in season three but never came back.

Based on their voice cast, it seemed like they’d be bigger characters. The only explanation is that Death was disguised as one, if not both of these characters as he was Varney in season four.

9 Why Is No One Else Using Day Armor?

There’s an episode of the anime where Striga and Morana’s men are attacked by humans. This is in broad daylight which everyone knows is a vampire weakness. However, Striga has something called Day Armor that negates the effects of sunlight one hundred percent it seems.

If they have that technology then why aren’t more vampires wearing it? That plot device seems like it should have gone somewhere.

8 Striga And Morana Deserve More

In that same episode, Striga and Morana discuss only needing each other and perhaps abandoning Carmilla. Then, after they return to her to see the castle under attack, they say the same lines about needing each other and… nothing. That’s their entire arc in the anime.

On one hand, it could be looked at as sweet but on another, it also falls flat that the anime just threw these major characters out.

7 Who Was Saint Germain Looking For?

In season three of the anime, it’s teased out that Saint Germain is looking for a woman. The big question is who it was he saw in the Infinite Corridor.

While she is brought up again, she is never given a name or true relationship tie to him. She’s seen in flashbacks but doesn’t even say a single word. Was she made up or did Netflix just not have the budget to give this anime another voice actor? It’s all left on the table.

6 What Happened To FlysEyes?

If the name isn’t obvious, FlysEyes is the giant fly monster Isaac creates. The two of them share a great moment in the anime in regard to the nature of monsters. After this exchange, he is never seen again. He isn’t even in the battle with Carmilla.

One would think, based on this scene, that he would have perhaps sacrificed himself to save Isaac or something but it seems like he was just one of many throw-away characters.

5 Death’s Mistakes Are Numerous And Make No Sense

Death makes many mistakes in the anime. The first of which was revealing his hand too early to Saint Germain, transforming himself from Varney into Death.

Why do it during the ritual when Saint Germain could have easily gotten cold feet, which he did? For that matter, why didn’t Death stop Trevor once he breaks through the barrier? Some planner this ultimate being turned out to be.

4 Why Didn’t Alucard And Sypha Join Trevor?

In the fight with Death, Alucard and Sypha are separated from Trevor. However, let’s not forget that Alucard is a vampire and can fly. Why didn’t he fly himself and Sypha to join Trevor?

One answer could be because Trevor gave Alucard a knowing look as if to say “I have a big plan and you two can’t get involved.” Even knowing that, Alucard could have still tried something. In the end, it doesn’t matter since Trevor survives but it still makes no sense.

3 Lenore’s Epilogue Didn’t Need To Be This Way

There are two parts to this epilogue that don’t make sense. One, Isaac is never seen again although it is implied he is still in the castle. Secondly, if he is making Lenore a prisoner then why doesn’t Hector ask Isaac to let them leave together?

Maybe she wouldn’t have decided to take her own life if she knew her other sisters were still alive. The anime didn’t seem to know what it wanted to do with Hector in general so, in the end, it was all just too sad.

2 Everything ABout The Dagger That Would Vanquish God

One of the bigger mysteries in this anime season was in regard to the dagger and various trinkets Trevor was finding. In the end, it turned into a dagger that could apparently kill a god at the sacrifice of the user. It’s implied that Saint Germain warps Trevor out of there as Death is stricken, presumably to save him from a fall that would have killed him.

It could have been before Death exploded too which might also explain the dagger’s supposed curse. However, he still has an arm scar. There are honestly too many questions with the dagger, its power, and Trevor’s safety to fully get into but overall it is definitely a head-scratcher.

1 Dracula And Lisa Live?

Trevor being alive was a touching end note for the anime series. However, that scene was ruined by the following one which somehow saw Dracula and Lisa alive.

The anime was practically mocking viewers by explicitly saying it didn’t make sense. Also, if they are going into hiding, how about using a name like Steve and not Vlad? It was an unwanted final note that outright wasn’t explained.
