2020 has been a great year for tabletop gaming and the same can be said for Repos Production’s civilization building card game 7 Wonders, which is celebrating its tenth birthday this year. Bring out the party supplies!

To celebrate the ten year anniversary, publisher Repos Productions have unveiled a new second edition of 7 Wonders. From what we know so far, the rules have remained unchanged save for some clarifications and general housekeeping, but the new edition will feature an all-new logo and artwork throughout the game. This has also been extended to three of the game’s original expansions; Leaders, Cities, and Armada. It will also ship a new size box, to bring it in line with the rest of the publisher’s games.

7 Wonders is a card drafting game for two to seven players, based upon the original seven ancient wonders of the world as defined by Antipater of Sidon in the fourth century BC. Each player takes on the task of building one of the wonders over a period of three ages. Each age has its own deck containing cards of different colors. These cards represent the different types of structures or goods available and grant a mixture of resources for use in the game. The winner is the player with the most victory points. Each of the expansions builds upon the core gameplay of the original by introducing new mechanics and ways to score points.

Ten years ago, Antoine Bauza’s new game 7 Wonders hit shelves in Belgium, quite unaware of what the future would hold. It caused quite the stir and attracted international attention that saw the game quickly translated and launched in countries the world over. The game has often been cited as one of the most influential games in the last decade and it was the winner of the inaugural Kennerspiel des Jahres award in 2011. Publisher, Repos Productions, has since gone on to publish several expansions and spin-off games, as well as numerous hard to find and collectible promotional cards.

The second edition of 7 Wonders and the three expansions are scheduled for release in September, with the core game retailing at $60 and expansions at $35 - $40.
