Updated September 5, 2021 by Amanda Hurych: Phasmophobia’s new Exposition update has piqued our interest in the game again. Terrifying new ghosts and interesting additions to evidence make the game feel fresh. And in case you were wondering how to earn more in-game money while playing, here are a few helpful methods to keep track of when trying to pad your wallet. Read on to discover ways to make money in Phasmophobia.
12 Raise The Difficulty
When you raise the difficulty of Phasmophobia, a multiplier for your earnings is increased. That means the higher the difficulty, the larger the payout. This, of course, comes with added risk. Phasmophobia on higher difficulties is no joke. The ghosts are more aggressive, and your sanity feels like it’s draining at a rapid rate. And if you end up dying, you will lose more money than you earn. So take this risk only if you feel confident in your abilities.
11 Use Insurance When Possible
Conversely, if raising the difficulty is not your cup of tea, you can choose to use insurance. This option is not available on the Professional difficulty, and it doesn’t give you more money so much as save you money. When you die, you lose some of the equipment you purchased. Taking out some insurance on your life means you will have a little fund to dip into to replace lost items. In the long-run, this practice can save your Phasmophobia wallet.
10 Follow The Objectives
This seems like an easy one, but a lot of people seem to miss the objectives board. For each objective you accomplish during the game session, you receive payment. So, before you even step into the house or building, talk with your teammates and decide how you want to split up the duties among one another. The more intentional you are about accomplishing tasks, the easier it will be to fulfill all of them and get paid.
9 Take A Picture Of The Ghost
This step is going to be a big moneymaker. It can be hard (and scary) to get, but it’s worth it for a big payday. Once you start to see that light flicker, pull out the camera, and keep an eye on your surroundings. If your timing is right, you can see the spirit moving through the house. If you snap a photo, you can get one of the highest payments in the game. Again, you have to make sure you don’t get taken out, but it’s worth it.
8 Don’t Die
This tip may seem easier said than done, but it’s worth noting that staying alive can get you paid. If you accomplish all your objectives and avoid dying, you will get paid five dollars more than if you didn’t. This money can be the difference between getting that next camera or thermometer.
So, when you get into the house or building, scope out the area and find a hiding spot in case the ghost starts moving around. Also, be sure to have a crucifix or smudge sticks on hand to stop hauntings to prevent death.
7 Make Sure Photos Show Up In Your Journal
As you start to take photos, always keep an eye on your journal. For example, if you take a picture of fingerprints, make sure the image is labeled in the journal. If it isn’t, you will not earn any money, and you will have to retake the photo. The last thing you want is to take photos and think they have been labeled and counted when they haven’t. Also, remind your teammates to do the same. You don’t want to leave money on the table.
6 Have Other Team Members Take Photos
Sometimes, you have to spend money to make money. A great tactic to use is to have as many team members on your teams with cameras as possible. This step means that each person has an opportunity to snap a photo of a fingerprint, footprint, or the ghost itself. You may find that these people can get photos that you weren’t able to. The more people taking pictures, the more money you can rack up over time. Phasmophobia is a hard but fun co-op experience, so be sure to take advantage of it by involving your teammates.
5 Watch Out For Interactions
This step does require you to pay close attention to what is happening around you and having some masterful reflexes. You can also get paid for getting footage or photos of ghostly interactions.
This could be a cup falling off a table, lights flickering on and off, or something being thrown across the room. Again, this can be challenging to do, but if you can get that camera going at the right time to record these ghostly interactions, then you can stand to make some nice money from missions.
4 Carry The Right Items
This tip may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s worth reminding you that you want to have all the resources you need to stay alive and get the evidence you need. So, make sure that you always have these tools on you (or with a team member) at all times: an EMF reader, thermometer, flashlight, and UV light. These items will allow you to quickly find where the haunting is so you can start taking pictures and recording evidence to make money.
3 Take Photos Of Dead Teammates
Ghosts tend to be pretty vicious in this game, so it is highly likely that you or your teammates will meet their fate during a session. A profitable way to take advantage of the situation is to take photos of your teammate’s dead bodies. It’s morbid and a bit of a secret in this horror game, but it is an additional way to make some cash that you may not know about. So, have the camera ready if the ghost is lurking and a teammate has fallen to the ground.
2 Turn On The Water
As you are moving through haunted areas, be sure to turn on the water. As the haunting starts, it is highly likely that the spirit will change the water’s color to brown.
If you take a photo of this evidence of paranormal activity, then you stand to gain some nice money at the end of the mission. It’s a nasty thing to look at, but it’s worth the effort.
1 Keep An Eye Out For Other Spooky Items
The objectives may not address this, but it’s worth noting that you can get extra money by taking photos of things like lit-up Ouija boards, bones, and voodoo dolls. These items reveal that there could be abnormal activity going on. So, you want to be on the lookout for these items as you move throughout the house. They can give you the extra money you need to finance that new equipment. In addition to that, if you pick up the bone, you will gain money for that action as well as taking a photo of it.
