15 The Darkest Sword And Dagger Intensifies Poison
Some of the best gear in Shadow of War doesn’t really do anything on its own but instead boosts other powers and effects that Talion has at his disposal. Among the most brutal of said powers is the ability to poison Orcs through various means, such as tainting their grog.
The Darkest Sword and Darkest Dagger weapons increase the potency of poison by 33 percent each. The Darkest Sword can be obtained by killing a Slayer or Destroyer from the Dark Tribe of Orcs. The Darkest Dagger can be taken off the body of one of their Assassins.
14 The Sword Of Horrors Grants A Curse Effect After An Execution
The Sword of Horrors is a weapon of the Terror Tribe of Mordor. This particular tribe of Orcs is awed by the power to create fear that Sauron possesses, and they aim to do the same. The Sword of Horrors earns its place amongst the best gear in Shadow of War through its ability to place a curse effect on Orcs after a brutal execution.
For ten seconds after said brutal execution, the Sword of Horrors curses enemies upon hitting them. This weapon can be taken off of a Terror Tribe Slayer or Destroyer.
13 Dagger Of Horrors Explodes The Heads Of Enemies
The Dagger of Horrors is another weapon that comes from the Orc Terror Tribe. This time, Talion has to kill a Terror Tribe Assassin or Berserker.
The Dagger of Horrors’ effect is fairly simple: stealth attacks cause the victim’s head to explode. This, appropriately, has the potential to terrify nearby Orcs into fleeing from Talion. If that doesn’t make it a piece of the best gear in Shadow of War, then Talion should learn to have more fun.
12 The Darkest Rune Extends The Efficacy Of Poison
Like the Darkest Sword and Darkest Dagger, the Darkest Rune pertains to the poisons that Talion can unleash on the Orcs. Instead of powering up the poison, the Darkest Rune increases the amount of time the poison is in effect by 77 percent. This vast increase in poison time makes the Darkest Rune easily rank among the best gear in Shadow of War, and any we’ve seen in Middle-earth.
The Darkest Rune is also obtained by killing a Captain of the Dark Tribe. This time, Talion needs to take out a Dark Tribe Commander or Trickster.
11 The Hammer Of War Ignites Enemies From Afar
The Hammer of War is a ranged weapon that can be obtained from the Warmonger Tribe of Orcs. These are Orcs that take pleasure in nothing more than fighting and killing. They see Sauron as the ultimate warlord that will lead them to spill blood across Middle-Earth.
This weapon can be obtained by killing a Marksman Captain of the Warmonger tribe. It’s among the best gear in Shadow of War thanks to its ability to cause fire explosions when charged, and the impact can set nearby Orcs ablaze.
10 Threshing Hammer Causes Enemies To Explode From Afar
The Threshing Hammer is the ranged weapon that can be obtained from the Machine Tribe of Orcs, particularly by killing a Legendary Marksman Captain from the Machine Tribe out in Mordor.
What makes the Threshing Hammer so powerful is its primary effect, which grants a 100 percent chance to cause an enemy to explode upon a headshot - potentially damaging and terrifying the nearest Orcs to the poor victim of Talion’s wrath.
9 Threshing Rune, Cloak, And Armor Can Cause Enemies To Explode
The Threshing Rune, Cloak, and Armor all come from the Machine Tribe Legendary Captains as well. Each occupies this slot because they all provide the same effect: each piece grants a 25 percent chance that a slain enemy will explode. The Rune comes from a Legendary Commander, the Cloak comes from a Legendary Trickster or Beastmaster, and the Armor comes from a Legendary Tank.
It’s worth mentioning that two pieces of the Threshing Set ensure that Call Followers and Iron Guard will summon Orc Sappers, and four pieces will cause the Elven Light attack to scatter explosives around Talion, which is particularly lethal with the number of Orcs swarming Mordor.
8 Bright Lord’s Hammer Can Freeze Enemies From Afar
The Bright Lord’s Hammer can be obtained by Talion if a gold ranking is attained on all Shadows of the Past quests. The Hammer causes charged ranged attacks by Talion to freeze nearby enemies.
This is especially powerful when paired with other Bright Lord gear and even some Nazgul gear, as both provide bonuses to Talion when battling frozen enemies.
7 The Sword And Dagger Of War Can Set Enemies On Fire
The Sword and Dagger of War, each originating with the Warmonger Tribe of Orcs, provide a similar bonus to one another that can help change the tide of battle in Talion’s favor. The Sword of War lights enemies on fire upon the event of an execution attack, and the Dagger of War sets enemies ablaze when Talion performs a stealth attack.
The Sword of War can be obtained upon killing a Legendary Slayer Orc Captian, and the Dagger of War comes from a Legendary Assassin or Trickster Orc Captain.
6 Darkest Armor Can Poison An Enemy When Talion Is Hit
The Darkest Set from the Dark Tribe of Orcs is built around exploiting poisons and increasing the efficacy of poisons. The Darkest Armor is one of the best pieces from the Darkest set, as it grants a 50 percent chance that Orcs that strike Talion will become poisoned.
Generally, Talion doesn’t want to get hit, but it’s bound to happen at some point. The Darkest Armor can be obtained by killing a Legendary Tank Captain from the Dark Tribe of Mordor.
5 Mask Of The General Causes Curse Explosions
The Mask of the General is one of five masks that can be obtained by Talion from the Nazgul Set. Each one can be obtained by advancing far enough into the Shadow of War main story, and the Mask of the General is arguably the best of the lot.
The Mask of the General causes lethal Consume and Drain attacks to result in a curse explosion that will affect nearby Orcs. Curse is a particularly gnarly effect that can be inflicted on Orcs that will almost always result in their demise.
4 Servant’s Blackened Armor Can Resurrect Dead Allies Immediately
The Servant’s Blackened Armor is another piece of Nazgul gear that can be obtained by progressing through the story of Mordor’s world.
This particular piece of gear makes it so that allied Orcs have a 40 percent chance of resurrection upon being killed by the enemy. In addition to making it so Talion’s army is more resilient than his enemy’s, it arguably makes the Orc even more powerful - as much of the Nazgul Set bolster undead Orcs.
3 Isildur’s Ring Boosts Talion’s Undead Allies Significantly
Case in point, there is Isildur’s Ring. It is another piece of the Nazgul Set that can be obtained through advancing the main story.
Isildur’s Ring increases the range of the Raise Dead ability - which, like the name implies, resurrects slain Orcs. In addition, Isildur’s Ring boosts the damage output of Undead allies by 65%
2 The Bright Lord Sword Quickens Wrath Build
The Bright Lord’s Sword is among the most powerful swords in the game. It can be obtained by opening the Ithildin Door in the Gorgoroth region.
The Bright Lord’s Sword grants Talion an additional 20 Wrath after performing an Ice Storm Finisher, one of the most powerful attacks in Talion’s repertoire.
1 The Nazgul Dagger Has A 50% Chance Of Resurrecting Kills As Allies
The dagger from the Nazgul Set, which is called Acharn, is arguably the most powerful dagger and even weapon in Shadows of War. It makes it so Orc grunts killed by stealth attacks have a 50 percent chance to be resurrected as undead allies.
With this many pieces of Nazgul gear, it is worth mentioning what more than one piece of gear can do for Talion. With two pieces of Nazgul gear, the Call Followers and Iron Guard moves summon Revenants to Talion’s side. Four pieces restore 20 health to Talion when an undead ally dies in battle.
