Wonder what it’s going to be like in the cockpit in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon? The folks over at Namco-Bandai have sought to release the gameplay tutorial for all to see - and get an idea of what aerial combat will be like in the game. It looks pretty gosh darn awesome.
The video, of the tutorial level presumably, does a good job of introducing the ins and outs of dogfighting in very expensive planes. Complete with control scheme, dogfighting basics, and introducing pivotal features of the game in the way a good tutorial does. That is to say, integrating it into the gameplay without making you seem like an idiot. More importantly, this video gives an extended look at the gameplay that will be expected in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.
Speaking of dogfighting, the Close Range Assault trailer that showcased up close aerial engagement is also on display via the Dogfighting Mode (or DFM) that can be engaged when you have closed in enough to an enemy bogey. Action looks and plays fast with a few cinematic touches thrown in here and there when a bogey is dispatched in a particularly dramatic fashion. All the more to make you, as the pilot, feel a little bit more like Maverick and less like Randy Quaid from Independence Day.
It isn’t enough just telling you how the game looks, so take a look at the Ace Combat: Assault Horizon fly-through video:
