In just three short weeks, Borderlands 2 will be unleashed on the world. On the off chance that someone, somewhere has yet to throw down a couple of bucks to guarantee a launch day copy of the game, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games have released a new trailer (above) for the Creature Slaughter Dome – a downloadable battle arena available only to players who pre-order Borderlands 2 from GameStop.

In the Creature Slaughter Dome, players will face off against wave after wave of Pandora’s deadliest non-human inhabitants. As the trailer shows, monsters of every description – towering, viscous, on fire – await those players who venture into the Dome. And the rewards for those who prevail? Come on – this is Borderlands! Experience and sweet, sweet loot will be showered on the victor, and all of it carries right over to the game’s 58 hour campaign.

The Creature Slaughter Dome should provide a handy way for players to take advantage of Borderlands 2’s infinite progression system, and Moxxi’s rocket launcher has got to be a solid addition to any arsenal. While we here at Game Rant aren’t the biggest fans of retailer-specific pre-order bonuses (because everyone who buys a game should be privy to everything that the game offers), we’ve gotta admit that the Slaughter Dome looks nice. And remember, pre-ordering any version of Borderlands 2 (the Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition is sold out, but the Deluxe Vault Hunter Collector’s Edition is still available) from any retailer grants access to the Premiere Club, which is itself stocked full of still more awesome goodies, not the least of which is the ability to download the Mechromancer as soon as she becomes available (which, apparently, will be within 60 days of Borderlands 2’s launch).

Borderlands 2 is one of our most anticipated games of the year, and we know that you guys are chomping at the proverbial bit to play it, too. If you haven’t pre-ordered the game yet, is the Creature Slaughter Dome enough of a bonus to get you to do so? Le us know in the comments below.

Borderlands 2 releases September 18, 2012, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
