If we were to list a handful of indie games that we’re most anticipating this year, there’s no question that Joe Danger 2 The Movie would be brought up. A few staff members from GR were fortunate enough to get some hands-on time with the much-anticipated Hello Games follow up during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, and we walked away so impressed that it was awarded Game Rant’s best indie game of E3 2012.
Ever since, we’ve been chomping at the bit waiting for news on when Joe Danger 2 The Movie would be exploding onto Xbox Live Arcade, and today anxious gamers everywhere have received just that.
Joe Danger’s debut on the fictitious big screen will happen relatively soon too, as Xbox Live users can expect the final product to land September 14th. Joe Danger 2 The Movie will be priced comparably to other recent releases on the Xbox Live Arcade, costing 1,200 Microsoft Points, which isn’t too bad given the scale of the game’s content. Anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to see the title in action, may want to set aside some time to watch the recent trailer for Joe Danger 2 The Movie just to get a grip on how zany it really is.
Hello Games’ managing director, Sean Murray, couldn’t be more excited about his game’s imminent release, and had some very great things to say about the title in a recent press release. Mind you, we’d find it odd if he started bad-mouthing something his team has been working so hard on.
Those who are unfamiliar with the original Joe Danger may feel the urge to check out the precursor to this upcoming racing/platforming sequel, and if that’s the case then they are in luck. Joe Danger: Special Edition (check out our review) is currently on sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 600 MS Points. That’s not too shabby at all.
“The launch of Joe Danger 2 The Movie on September 14 will provide fans a new chapter with our iconic hero. We’re incredibly proud of this game as it represents the vision and goals we set out to achieve two years ago. We’re a small team, and this is a huge game, supporting features like global level sharing and online ghosts of everybody who has ever played the Joe Danger games.”
To recap, Joe Danger 2 The Movie will back flip, jetpack, and explode onto the scene September 14th, exclusively on XBLA — although it’ll likely expand to other platforms in the near future.
