It’s been a week since the launch of Destiny on both current-gen and last-gen platforms and so far reception to Bungie’s latest game has been decidedly mixed. While some are praising the game’s addictive MMO-like nature, many are finding the experience starts to run thin once they’ve run through all of Destiny’s story missions. As a result, most early reviews for Destiny have been equally mixed, with some even leaning on the lower side of the scale....

If there was one issue that fans of the original Dragon Age: Origins took BioWare to task over omitting in their much-hailed follow-up, it was the complete lack of multiple playable races, and a significantly reduced amount of choice in their character’s origin story. Where fans had previously been able to choose between human, dwarf and elf heroes (of varying classes), Dragon Age 2 took those choices away, and fans made their frustrations known....

Good things come to those who wait, and for those who have been hoping to see the next evolution in cooperative multiplayer from the minds behind Left 4 Dead, the wait is almost over. And an evolution or revolution it might prove, with the upcoming Evolve swapping out hordes of savage enemies for just one - over powered, oversized, and overwhelming unless the opposing players work together. After early showings and a multiplayer Beta showed just how important teamwork will be for players counting down the days to launch, Turtle Rock Studios has announced that Evolve has officially gone gold, with development wrapped for the time being....

Crytek Studios is perhaps best known for either their fast-paced, graphically unmatched first-person shooter series Crysis, or the similarly attractive and award winning Far Cry series. Apparently, in between production on best-seller Crysis 2 and the much hyped Far Cry 3, Crytek decided to make an cutesy action puzzler on iOS. Fibble - Flick ’n’ Roll is the result of that production, but is this departure worth your time? Fibble is a small alien who manages to fall asleep on an intergalactic journey, leaving his UFO vulnerable to an inexplicable soda can orbiting a satellite....

With the 2012 Presidential Election officially in the books, Red vs. Blue can finally return to its less divisive connotation: Halo multiplayer. Tuesday’s highly anticipated and acclaimed release of Halo 4 (be sure to read our review) has fans flooding the game’s new Infinity multiplayer component across Spartan Ops and War Games. And sure enough, the Xbox Live Rewards program is taking advantage. Announced today by Microsoft, between now and November 30, any Xbox Live Rewards member is eligible to receive Microsoft Points as recompense for their time spent in Halo 4 multiplayer....

Mortal Kombat’s legacy and lore now includes 11 mainline games and a multitude of spin-offs that have turned the gory fighting game into a well-documented part of video game history. However, it’s no secret the rest of Mortal Kombat’s media appearances have not fared as well, with the 1995 film of the same name being the only salvageable production to have come out of it. At least that was the case before the newest Mortal Kombat trailer came out 26 years later, packing more and better source material than any of its predecessors that screams flawless victory in this early preview....

Despite going through a troublesome couple months, Sony has been working hard to entice gamers back to their online service. While some may remain hesitant, that doesn’t change the fact that the PSN is a service that still has a lot going for it. One feature of note, is its catalog of full downloadable retail titles. Not content simply selling older titles through the service, Sony also makes select AAA titles available for purchase....

A redesign to the Instagram home screen will start to roll out in February, which will change navigation for users. The app’s owner, Meta, has announced that it plans to remove the Instagram Shop tag from the bottom icon bar entirely. Businesses will still be able to set up shops on the social sharing application, but must run them through the feed itself, stories, reels and ads. The other major change is that the bottom navigation bar will feature the “plus” sharing icon front and centre....

Tribal decks are both flavorful and synergistic, each possessing their own intricacies and identity depending on which given type is being used. However, not all tribes are viewed as equal. As the gaming industry evolves, the next step for beloved franchises appears to be a jump from game to television and film. Companies like Ubisoft are prepping to release an Assassin’s Creed motion picture, while Microsoft is hard at work on getting a Spielberg-produced Halo series onto the television screens of the masses. There’s no denying that the trend of making a cross-media jump for video game series is quickly becoming a trend, and now Sonic the Hedgehog will be making the same move....

The PlayStation Portable may be over 15 years old, but gamers have not forgotten their time with the mobile Sony platform. Viewed as a console ahead of its time, the love for the handheld has clearly not wavered, as the PSP is currently trending on Twitter. This is not the first time the PSP has hit the trending page, as it did so back in July of this year. While it is surely a product of the time, with the platform making use of cheat code books, lacking media apps, and running slow, users gathered earlier this year to talk about all the things it did right....

After becoming one of our favorite titles at E3 2011, the XCOM first person shooter reboot from 2K Marin appeared to have been abducted right off the 2012 release schedule (and delayed into early 2013) - without any substantial info since a new XCOM trailer and screenshots appeared back in June 2011. Recently, speculation that the title had been cancelled was stoked further by the announcement that 2K Games and Firaxis Games was making a new strategy-based XCOM title as well, XCOM: Enemy Unknown for release in 2012....

Following the massive amount of news to arrive during E3 2015, it’s now evident more than ever that there are a ton of blockbuster games to look forward to in the coming months on current-gen consoles. With more games comes the need for more space on hard drives though, which is why Microsoft announced a 1TB Xbox One console prior to this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Now Sony has followed in the competition’s footsteps, officially announcing a new 1TB PlayStation 4 console....

In Dungeons and Dragons, the rogue is a popular character class defined by a reliance on stealth and precision to achieve their goals. Assassins and thieves are common professions for rogues, though not a requirement. But while Dungeons and Dragons may have put a name to it, the archetype has been around much longer and exists across a wide range of media. Robin Hood, for example, could be considered a rogue as he is often depicted relying on stealth and ambush techniques against King John and the Sherriff of Nottingham....

Despite whether a game is successful or not, or whether it’s well-loved by fans or not, sometimes it bites the dust and it’s game over for that particular title. A lot of the time it comes down to licensing issues, content issues, or studios closing and servers being taken down. If the game is digital-only it’s normally gone for good if delisted, unless you’re one of the lucky few who kept it installed on your console....

Craig The Brute is probably one of the most significant happy accidents by Microsoft ever. His rise to popularity was so quick that a lot of new people coming across the memes would wonder who this famous monkey-like creature is. And to answer that question, you have to go back to the Halo Infinite campaign gameplay premiere. That’s the eight-minute demo to the upcoming Halo game, which is releasing in December 2020 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X....

Microsoft’s official Windows 11 showcase wasn’t exactly the most exciting live stream event of the season, but at least it finally confirmed the core features we can look forward to in the upcoming (and for most users, free) Windows update. While you can pretty much bet on early versions of a Windows update being at least a bit of a mess, most of them (except for you, Windows 8) typically offer enough new features to justify the growing pains....

The Nintendo Switch has not only dominated the year of 2019 in comparison to both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it completely turned around Nintendo’s image to those outside of the ecosystem. With the next-generation PlayStation and Xbox on the horizon, Nintendo is looking to take advantage of the marketplace already saturated by their competition’s consoles.
