While the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online has not gone over smoothly (to say the least), gamers should know that Rockstar Games is working on it. Shortly after GTA Online went live, Rockstar released a detailed list of known issues in an attempt to reassure players that their complaints were not falling on deaf ears. But the main problem with GTA Online was that gamers simply couldn’t login to the multiplayer experience, or in some cases get past the bottlenecking tutorial....

As part of a campaign leading up to the release of the biggest console exclusive game this year, Microsoft is producing a series of live-action short films for Halo 4. Titled Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, the five episode series will screen on Halo Waypoint and Machinima in the week’s preceding Halo 4’s November 6th launch date. Named after the UNSC Charon-class light frigate on which Master Chief and Cortana find themselves at the end of Halo 3 (and the beginning of Halo 4), Forward Unto Dawn nevertheless doesn’t focus exclusively on those characters....

Anyone who believed that NetherRealm had lost their touch over the years was proven wrong by last year’s Mortal Kombat, a game that successfully rebooted the fighter series while also returning to its roots. After seemingly exorcising the demons that had plagued the Mortal Kombat name for the past decade, the studio is looking to do the same with the other fictional universe showcased in their previous titles. The heroes and villains of the DC Universe are back to do battle in Injustice: Gods Among Us....

Times are tough for Lara Croft, having been recently thrown wide-eyed and wobbly-kneed into a rebooted Tomb Raider universe, and charged with learning her key tomb raiding skills from scratch. After contending with wild animals, wilder people, and an island comprised entirely of ruins that collapse as soon as they’re climbed on, Lara is badly in need of some therapy. While fans of the herione wait for Rise of the Tomb Raider, another sequel is on the way in the form of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, a four-player co-op title that acts as a follow-up to Crystal Dynamics’ 2010 two-player co-op game Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light....

2014 might be over but its awards season isn’t done quite yet. This week the Game Developers Choice Awards took place in San Francisco and industry peers voted for their favorite games of 2013.
