After shucking its setting in favor of modern drug cartels, the Call of Juarez franchise has course corrected with a return to the Wild West. Unfortunately, it might be too late, as the damage associated with Call of Juarez: The Cartel has been done. Nevertheless, developer Techland plans to keep their cult favorite franchise going with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, which is slated to release on the Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and PC....
Sure, it might’ve had zombies and first-person, melee-focused combat, and yes, it was developed by Techland, but Dying Light wasn’t a Dead Island game - and despite the rumors, it didn’t start as one. While the original Dead Island was pretty successful, selling a few million units, Techland split with publisher Deep Silver around 2012 and used their newfound freedom to create “the game Dead Island fans want.” Those are fighting words, but Techland can back them up: Dying Light went on to become the studio’s best-selling title, and emerged as a surprise hit this past winter....
The 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship is nearly at an end (the final event takes place in Brazil on November 25th), but the races can go on and on in Codemasters’ F1 2012. Available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, F1 2012 includes every car, driver and circuit from this year’s World Championship. Does that mean the game is for Formula One fans only, or does this sim-racer deserve a wide, mainstream audience?...
As one of the most well-known RPG franchises, fans were thrilled when Lionhead Studios unveiled Fable Legends, currently in development for the Xbox One. Apparently, the days of a single hero of Albion are behind us, as Legends will include four different characters for the player to inhabit. Multiple playable classes of characters in an RPG is nothing new, but the differences between the game’s heroes seem to go much deeper than their weapon of choice....
When Hironobu Sakaguchi says “final,” he means it. As it turns out, he doesn’t particularly like sequels. That’s surprising, given that Sakaguchi is the man behind one of gaming’s longest running and most popular franchises, Final Fantasy. Sakaguchi joined SquareSoft in 1983, shortly after dropping out of college, and before long took over as the developer’s Director of Planning and Development. Unfortunately, Square’s first few games didn’t sell very well; Sakaguchi decided that his last game would be a fantasy RPG based on Dungeons & Dragons, after which he’d retire from the game industry and return to university (hence the “final” in the game’s title)....
It seems like ever since the Xbox One and PS4 launched gamers have been eager to see how multiplatform titles compare when running on each platform. In some cases, the results have been staggering, with one platform far outperforming the other, but most of the time the differences are almost negligible. Such is the case with the recently released current-gen ports of Grand Theft Auto 5, which as viewers can see in the video above perform admirably on both PS4 and Xbox One....

The gaming community has responded negatively to almost every attempt by publishers and developers to limit theft, whether it comes in the form of lawsuits or restrictive DRM....
It Takes Two is an odd game. Not only does the mix of genres, level styles, and side activities make it feel like it’s every game ever, but it presents itself as a cuddly, kid friendly game while dealing with mature themes and throwing in lots of jokes for grown ups. Of course, tackling complex themes with winking adult humour in an ostensibly childish setting has worked wonders for Pixar for decades - Cars trilogy not withstanding - so that alone shouldn’t be held against It Takes Two....
Five new Prestige levels and 400 new ranks have been added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on both the PC and the Xbox 360, with a PS3 update slated to follow at the end of this month. Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist for Infinity Ward, had announced the arrival of these new ranks and levels to Modern Warfare 3 earlier last week, but now they are finally available. With the addition of five new Prestige levels for the game that brings the grand total to 15 Prestige levels before players cap out in their online multiplayer experience....
Just moments ago, Harmonix officially announced Rock Band Blitz. The latest iteration of the Rock Band franchise is a radical departure from the numbered games in the series, and more closely resembles the iPhone Rock Band game as well as Harmonix’s PlayStation 2 titles, Amplitude and Frequency. The game is due this Summer for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Just last week we reported that Harmonix would be revealing a brand new game at their PAX East panel, and wondered whether it could be the next iteration of Rock Band or perhaps the XBLA/PSN game we’d been hearing rumors about....
If there’s one next-gen game that falls squarely into the ‘you’ve got to play it to get it’ category, it’s the Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome. One might have thought that the developer behind it (Crytek, the minds behind Crysis) would be enough to make it one of the Xbox One’s most coveted launch titles, but criticism has persisted. Hopefully, the latest trailers focusing on the fiction crafted around the Roman soldier Marius Titus - the titular ‘Son of Rome’ - and highlighting the mythology and savagery spun throughout the game will help ease some fears....
There is not much left to say about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that has not already been said. It is quite simply a fantastic game, garnering public praise and great reviews and even a Game of the Year honor at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards. At the same time, Skyrim is being drug through the mud due to technical problems with the retail release and subsequently patched versions of the game, mainly dealing with texture issues in the Xbox 360 version and large saved game files on the PlayStation 3....
Happy 25th Anniversary, Mega Man! Today is the day, and in honor of the occasion, Capcom has released Street Fighter X Mega Man as a free PC download. Publicly unveiled just over a week ago, the game features an all-new set of Street Fighter-inspired levels for Mega Man to fight through, each culminating in a boss battle against one of Street Fighter’s legendary combatants. The release of Street Fighter X Mega Man is just the first event in what promises to be a year long celebration of the Blue Bomber, and it certainly kicks things off with a bang!...
While Titanfall owners are likely still busy picking through the various accoutrements (campaign, modes, maps, unlocks) that Respawn Entertainment’s freshman effort has to offer, there is also some curiosity over what might be next for the multiplayer-focused title. We know that Respawn has plans for DLC, they revealed as much when they announced a Season Pass for three post-release packs, but since then the Titanfall developer hasn’t said much more....
Following a highly anticipated teaser trailer during the 2014 Super Bowl, we’re finally receiving concrete details on Transformers: Age of Extinction - Michael Bay’s fourth Transformers series film. Along with first-look reveals at Toy Fair 2014, fans of the robots-in-disguise were also treated to the announcement of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark - an upcoming sequel to High Moon Studios’ mega-popular Cybertron video game series. Both Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron were critical and commercial hits - with enjoyable Gears of Wars-style shooting mechanics and fast-paced vehicle action (as well as blockbuster storytelling) set on the Autobot and Decepticon planet....
As they promised, Sony took to their PS4 launch event in New York City ready to make some major announcements. With all eyes focused on the PS4, they knew it was the perfect opportunity to tease what the future holds for their next-gen console. And as far as that future goes, it looks like Naughty Dog’s action adventure franchise will be making the jump to next-gen in a new Uncharted game developed exclusively for PS4....
While it may not have been how Marvel intended to kick of Phase 4 of the MCU, it’s hard to argue that WandaVision hasn’t done a good job of getting folks back in the superhero spirit. Whatever obstacles and issues the show may have faced trying to finish during the pandemic, it certainly seems to have found success among both MCU fans and general audiences alike. That said, lingering questions still remain after the WandaVision finale, and some fans aren’t entirely ready to be on Wanda’s side after everything that happened....
