For many, Tony Hawk Pro Skater games are synonymous with early 2000s gaming sessions with friends, grinding and jumping around wild environments and landing completely ridiculous tricks. Now, there’s a new Pro Skater on the horizon — and it looks like it just might set the series right side up, compared to the disastrous Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. But this game, Tony Hawk 1+2, released this fall, looks forward while taking the series back in time....

Wolfenstein 3D pioneered the first-person shooter genre as we know it. This is a game series that has been reinventing itself over and over again, granting players new ways for players to mindlessly shoot down the bad guys from World War II. Although Wolfenstein: The New Order might seem like just a straightforward, no-brainer shooter, there is a lot to this game that deserves appreciation. The soul of this franchise is very much alive in this game, but it does not stop there....

Shortly after 14 Days of Fortnite came to a close, Epic Games decided to offer up a free Equalizer Glider to players after it had communicated an incorrect end date for the aforementioned event, with the cosmetic acting as an apology of sorts to those who missed out on the action before it ended. Two years ago, Nintendo announced New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. While more or less unremarkable otherwise, the announcement trailer featured a new item called the Super Crown, which, when used, would allow Toadette to turn into a copy of Princess Peach. Not long afterward, Twitter user @ayyk92 drew a fan comic poking fun at the Super Crown. In the first panel, Princess Peach rejects both Mario and Bowser, who take to comforting each other… until Bowser turns around with a Super Crown in hand....

Set to release next week, Grand Slam Tennis 2 is EA Sports answer to the Virtua Tennis, but more importantly is a fully featured upgrade for the just-getting-started franchise. Coming from the mind of Suda 51, Lollipop Chainsaw is pretty much confirmed to be an over the top spectacle of violence and sex. Thankfully, fans of Suda 51’s insanity will also be treated to pre-order bonuses of the same caliber. The pre-order bonuses for Lollipop Chainsaw are limited to different skins for main character Juliet, but they all pack the same nonsensical punch found in the game’s trailers. Best Buy seems to have the best deal, as players will have access to two skins - the Goth Girl and Foxy Funk outfits....

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A developer announces always-on DRM will be a requirement for their game, fans lambast them for the decision, and on launch day things go horrible wrong. It happened most recently with Diablo 3, and now SimCity has become the newest victim. While the level of problems haven’t been nearly as numerous as those that plagued Diablo, many gamers are still reporting plenty of issues....

When the games with cel-shaded animation is brought up, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us spring immediately to mind as excellent examples of the art style, along with Gearbox Software’s Borderlands and Borderlands 2. So when Telltale announced Tales from the Borderlands, a “choice and consequence” series set after the end of Borderlands 2, it seemed like a very natural pairing of franchise and studio. The protagonists of Tales from the Borderlands were first introduced in an announcement trailer that also featured the familiar faces of munitions dealer Marcus Kincaid and all-around bad guy Handsome Jack....

If you’re a an active gamer of Sony Online Entertainment MMOs, then by now you’ve heard the sad news that Star Wars Galaxies is coming to an end. It was only a few weeks ago that SOE confirmed the terrible news for long-time Galaxies subscribers. Even with BioWare and Electronic Arts launching Star Wars: The Old Republic, many hoped both could co-exist just as EverQuest and EverQuest II still do, but as it turns out, the end was coming regardless....

Chris Hemsworth is currently filming the highly-anticipated film Thor: Love and Thunder in his native country, Australia. The MCU star recently revealed the unique challenges that the fourth installment of the Thor franchise presents. Thor: Ragnarok premiered in 2017 and was largely considered to be the best Thor film to date. The blockbuster was praised for its wittiness and dazzling action sequences. Marvel made a concerted effort to change the tone of the Thor franchise and showcase the comedic side of its titular star....

Regardless of medium, remakes are almost always a bad idea. Movie remakes turn out bad, TV show remakes turn out bad, and video games remakes turn out especially bad. Unlike with film and television, though, fans are a bit more forgiving of video game remakes for whatever reason. As the medium is still rather young, quite a number of people prioritize quality of life over originality or clever game design. In turn, it’s not unusual for big studios to push big remakes for games that, frankly, would have done well enough with just a modern graphical update....

There was significant hype surrounding the release of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but the game turned out to be a critical misfire. Reviewers generally agreed the game didn’t live up to expectations by playing it too safe and essentially being an upgrade to the previous installment. Still, Breakpoint has found its fans who enjoy the title for what it is. And yet, these same fans do like to indulge in jokes at the game’s expense, as its shortcomings are too relatable among the fanbase to ignore....
