Even still, a lot has changed in Skyrim since then. After two under-performing DLC offerings (Dawnguard and Hearthfire) and a myriad of PS3 development quandaries (the absence of Dawnguard and Hearthfire), the accolades the game once basqued in after its November 2011 debut seem to have lost some of their novelty — the antithesis of what post-release content is supposed to achieve....

Given how sprawling the open worlds of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City were, few could fault fans for heading into the imminent release of Batman: Arkham Knight with high expectations. As the first title on current-gen platforms, and the last Arkham game for developer Rocksteady Studios, most expect Batman: Arkham Knight will pull out all the stops. Coincidentally, though, there won’t be any stops in gameplay, as Batman: Arkham Knight will not have a single loading screen throughout the game....

After overcoming a launch plagued by game-breaking bugs and middle of the road reviews, Batman: Arkham Origins is preparing to throw a new fury of attacks at young Bruce Wayne. Players who survived the freezes and corrupted save files are likely finished with the Arkham Origins campaign and ready for some new challenges. Gamers that enjoyed the entertaining (but slightly familiar) adventure will have an opportunity to take on a brand-new mission starting tomorrow....

It’s ironic that the rivalry between Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and EA’s Battlefield 3 would happen to land right in the heart of election season. The ongoing arguments between the two companies have all the tenets of a classic political rivalry: mudslinging, one-upmanship, and then even more trash talk! It’s also a safe bet to assume that this rivalry will continue to intensify until the release of both games....

It’s been a big week for Call of Duty fans filled with live-action trailers and new details, and that’s even before the latest game, Advanced Warfare, has actually hit store shelves. The leaks have been coming in fast and furious as of late, with many of Advanced Warfare’s bigger secrets having already been spoiled. Hello Games has finally brought Joe Danger back to the spotlight with Joe Danger 2 The Movie. This zany follow-up to one of our favorite platforming/racing games takes everything that made the original great and then proceeds to expand upon it exponentially. Joe Danger 2 The Movie is an action-packed sequel that’ll keep players coming back for more. That being said, there are a couple of issues that prevent this stunt-filled XBLA title from being a flawless experience....

A lot of people have stuck with the Mass Effect series for quite some time. Stories were forged, decisions were made, and romances were started with crew mates. The lush space opera trilogy will come to an end with Mass Effect 3. The 2012 release date seems so far away, but luckily, executive producer for the Mass Effect trilogy, Casey Hudson, is sharing some interesting details about the game. When the first Mass Effect 3 gameplay was shown to the public at E3 2011, a lot of obvious changes have been implemented for the title - but nothing more dramatic than the changes to combat and gun play we’ve already seen in the series....

Hype for Mortal Kombat X seems to be growing by the day, and a new story trailer released by NetherRealm Studios earlier this morning looks set to intensify things even further. The clip gives us a glimpse at what to expect from the game’s main plot, as well as unveiling several more new Kombatants and showcasing some bone-crunching action. While the single-player modes of fighting games can sometimes take a back seat to multiplayer, 2011’s Mortal Kombat demonstrated that it’s possible to deliver an excellent story mode within the confines of the genre....

There has been a recent influx of games with extreme difficulty. Whilst Bloodborne continues to bring a hard-as-nails element to the current AAA scene, there has been an even larger explosion of hardcore games in the independent circuit. The roguelike boom has seen the likes of FTL: Faster Than Light become hugely popular, while the indie horror scene gives players dozens of particularly vulnerable protagonists. Now there is another addition to the trend, joining the likes of Crypt of the NecroDancer and Titan Souls....

Sony PlayStation Canada is currently holding a two-day Spring Showcase preview of upcoming PlayStation 3 and Vita games. On the first day of the event (yesterday) was an early build of the recently announced PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s wildly popular Smash Bros. games. Like Nintendo’s version which features a variety of Nintendo’s first-party characters, ranging from Mario and Luigi to Pikachu and Star Fox, Sony’s clone of the game includes Kratos (God of War), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal) and many others....

Game Rant’s Anthony Molé reviews Prototype 2 The original Prototype had the unfortunate luck of releasing close to Sony’s open world title InFamous. The game was quickly overshadowed by Sucker Punch’s super hero tale, as Prototype (comparatively) had a bland story, less-inspired presentation and a number of odd gameplay quirks. In Prototype 2, Radical Entertainment brings players back to New York City, and the experience is improved in almost every way....

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a critically-acclaimed game, with nearly every aspect of the game praised by reviewers. The characters, core narrative, combat, gameplay, open world, and more all make this game worth playing, and much like Grand Theft Auto 5, it came with an online counterpart. Red Dead Online is successful, but nearly as much as GTA Online. As such, Rockstar hopefully recognizes that to get the most out of Red Dead Redemption 2, it needs to look at its single player content....

Some new Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception footage has popped up online that focuses on one of the new multiplayer levels that boasts a dynamic weather system to break up the monotony of play. Taken off-screen from what we’re guessing was Gamescom 2011, this Uncharted 3 multiplayer footage has us very excited to play more than just the beta levels of the game. Unfortunately the real bummer is that the footage is narrated in German and features German subtitles — preventing any new details from being anything but gleaned....

Released in 2015, Cities: Skylines is Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive’s love letter to Maxis’ now all but defunct SimCity series. The ultimate city building game, it’s the sort of thing armchair municipal planners have been waiting for since the debut of the genre more than a quarter of a century ago. Though almost universally praised, it’s not without a few flaws and oversights. However, a robust modding community has stepped in to enhance the game beyond the developer’s original vision, and there are now tons of cheats and exploits available on the Steam workshop to make the game as customizable and intricate as possible....
