Every video game is bound by the mechanics it is built-in with. In the case of the Hitman series, the games conform to a bunch of logical mishaps that are considered second nature by the characters within them. These would seem ridiculous to anyone if real-world common sense were applied, but are useful to pass the game’s missions. Still, it doesn’t make these things any less funny, and fans love to have a good laugh at the blatant flaws that can be found....

Given how subjective movie reviews can be, it’s only natural that opinions are going to differ from time to time. As they say; one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Generally though, this subjectivity tends to balance itself out and, ultimately, provide a fairly balanced viewpoint once an average has been taken. Immortals Fenyx Rising recently released, giving players a brand-new action-adventure RPG game from the same Ubisoft team that brought us Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The games have a lot in common, not only in setting, gameplay, and features, but also in their love of easter eggs and pop culture references. There are a few easter eggs to be found scattered throughout the game, as well as other hidden secrets and many interesting details....

Although most video games are released worldwide, there are some games and video game consoles that are exclusively released in only a certain region. Some of these games may receive some slight changes, but at least they’re released worldwide. Japan is one country that often gets exclusives. Whether they’re exclusive consoles or exclusive games, there are many games that are never officially released in other countries. Although many of these games have gotten fan-made translations into other languages and are now playable by gamers around the world, that doesn’t change the fact that the developer and publisher never actually gave them a real release anywhere outside of Japan....

Video games are no different. There are so many great Bomberman games out there, but the series will forever be stained by the gritty, post-apocalyptic reboot, Bomberman: Act Zero. There are ten major Tekken fighting games, but even its fanbase needs to be reminded that Nina Williams once starred in her own adventure. Even Donkey Kong Jr. got a random NES game designed to teach you math. So many video game series have their own black sheep titles that are often only remembered by the unfortunate few....

There are a lot of reasons to love the Sega Genesis, but in my mind, the console’s best feature was its library of arcade-like titles. At a time when the idea of playing arcade games at home involved winning the lottery, the Genesis gifted gamers with title after title that captured the spirit of those unforgettable experiences. As Genesis fans know, though, that library of arcade-like games meant that the average Genesis title was often as brutally difficult as the arcade games of that era that set standards for hard video games that some fans argue (much like the games themselves) haven’t been beat....

Perhaps to ensure they receive new customers in the wake of Netflix abandoning their Qwikster service, Blockbuster will be offering those who pre-order Batman: Arkham City from them one month of unlimited video game and movie rentals. The pre-order does cost $10 so it’s not entirely free, but that isn’t the only opportunity fans will have of scoring perks for their purchase. With Batman: Arkham City releasing in under a week, waste makes haste, and for those who don’t care where their game is purchased from, having unlimited rentals for a month doesn’t seem too bad in the scheme of things....

Treyarch did an admirable job porting the Call of Duty: Black Ops experience to the technically inferior Wii and its unique motion controllers back in 2010, and for all of its graphical weaknesses, it was more or less the same game sans a few zombie maps and splitscreen multiplayer. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, nothing is holding Treyarch back from being able to deliver the same, perhaps even more enchanced, version of the game thanks to the Nintendo Wii U....

While Nintendo would like to keep a relative amount of secrecy regarding the power of their forthcoming next-gen console, the Wii U, there are developers working on games for the system that are trying to ensure each version of their product gets its fair share of attention. As such it appears that Nintendo is allowing developers to speak out on their products, just a tiny bit, in order to make gamers aware the Wii U is no slouch....

Despite the fact that it’s a brand new IP, Bungie’s forthcoming shooter Destiny already has a great deal going for it. The concept art, screenshots and footage that have been released so far are, quite frankly, stunning. Though the premise is pure sci-fi geared to appeal to fans of Mass Effect and Bungie’s current biggest hit, the Halo series, but the developers have also said that the game will be accessible to gamers of all skill levels....

Games with an established fan base can be pretty hard to get into and play well, and with veterans of the series often decimating newbies online, a game like Gears of War 3 can seem pretty intimidating. Newcomers seem to be in luck this time around, because Epic Games have announced that they plan on offering a ‘Casual’ mode in the upcoming Gears of War 3. The new mode will give those who have yet to play any of the previous Gears of War games a chance to essentially suck less while playing....

Monaco is an indie title that’s been in development by Pocketwatch Games for about two and half years, and it’s one title that this gamer has been very excited for. Given their yearly release cycle, some sports simulations come under constant attack for dragging their feet, or growing stagnant from a lack of competition; but that’s one problem the NHL series has rarely encountered. With their latest release, NHL 14, has the team at EA Sports Vancouver refined their core gameplay, while adding enough new features to compensate for the fact that they won’t be releasing on next-gen platforms? After NHL 13 brought the most polished and comprehensive hockey simulation to date (read our review), we were at a loss as to how the team would go about addressing the most nagging issues, while still making enough of a step forward with NHL 14 to make the purchase worthwhile....

With the release of the newest SimCity title quickly approaching, Maxis is ready to bring dedicated fans aboard early with a closed beta experience.
