There’s more to Warner Bros. Games Montréal’s first title than just a singleplayer mode, however. The multiplayer trailer for Arkham Origins teased a three-way battle between Joker and Bane’s gangs and Batman and Robin’s attempts to sabotage them both. Last month some players were lucky enough to receive an invite to the open beta of the multiplayer, which means that we’re now able to get a look at some of the fun that will be available upon the game’s wider release....

After almost a decade worth of development work and plenty of twists and turns along the way, the BioShock franchise, more specifically the BioShock Infinite leg, comes to a close with the release of Burial at Sea: Episode 2. And it’s only fitting that the franchise ends right where it started, in the murky depths of Rapture. Of course, there’s still a full downloadable episode to get through before Rapture and Columbia seemingly close their doors forever, and in celebration of that 2K Games and Irrational have released a new launch trailer....

We have less than a month to go before the release of Captain America: The First Avenger, which means the world will be quite a bit more star-spangled for awhile. Everything from special edition comic books to star-shaped donuts are getting shilled to promote the new movie. However, forget the apparently undrinkable Captain America Cherry Coolatta from Dunkin’ Donuts - it looks like Sega’s Captain America: Super Soldier video game could be the reigning champ of promotional movie tie-ins....

By now most gamers are aware of the challenges the Souls series presents to players. Not only have titles like Dark Souls and Demon Souls become synonymous with the frustratingly difficult, but they have also fueled a new devoted fan base. Players don’t just try to survive Dark Souls anymore; they turn it into a religion. One Dark Souls fan, for example, took it upon himself to beat the entire first game using only a Rock Band guitar....

Dark Souls 2 is not a pleasant game - at least, not in the traditional sense of the word. It will unapologetically and periodically beat you down and take everything you hold dear. Half the time, you may not even have any idea of who you are, what you’re doing or where you are. Melodramatic or not, this is the essence of the Souls experience. While the above might hardly sound like an enjoyable experience to the uninitiated, fans of the series swear by the unforgiving atmosphere....

It looks like Marvel comic book fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as one of the best characters yet to receive their own game will finally have their day. Activision and Marvel revealed that they’d be making an announcement at today’s San Diego Comic Con panel, and it seems that Deadpool will be at its center. That’s what the evidence points to, with an Amazing Spider-Man billboard graffiti’ed over with a link to ‘DeadpoolGame....

Unlike most new franchises, Destiny is far from an underdog. The setting might have been brand new, but Destiny’s developer Bungie is the same company that created Halo - one of the most popular games of all time. Activision ensured the success that Destiny would find at launch last fall with a massive marketing campaign, and despite mixed reviews the game went on to rack up $325 million in its first five days, setting the record for a brand new IP....

The first real teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops III was released yesterday, depicting a slow slide into a future where augmented humans wage war under the cover of darkness. Some fans noted a similarity to another recent sequel unveiling — and it seems that the developers of that title did, too. While last year’s Advanced Warfare established the presence of future tech in the Call of Duty franchise, it looks like the Black Ops sub-series will explore classified use of genetically modified super-soldiers....

It was finally revealed last week that a sequel to Epic Mickey will be coming later this year to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii in the form of Epic Mickey: The Power of Two. Shortly thereafter, the cover of Nintendo Power revealed that Epic Mickey was on its way to the Nintendo 3DS as well, but details on the project were slim… until today. Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion will allegedly feature hand-drawn sprites and some awesome 2D platforming elements, which is appropriate, as it turns out that the game is a follow-up the SEGA Genesis classic, Castle of Illusion....

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy-themed ‘Jump Festa’ event is in full swing, and as part of the celebration the Tokyo-based game developer showed off a brand new (and long-awaited) trailer for Final Fantasy XV. This isn’t the first time gamers have seen Final Fantasy XV in action, of course. The game started development in 2006 as a Final Fantasy XIII spin-off called Final Fantasy Versus XIII; aside from a combat-heavy trailer that surfaced in 2011, the game spent most of its development out of the public eye, and many assumed it had been cancelled....

Although not surprising, the official unveiling of Just Cause 3 last week was a welcome one. Avalanche Studios had developed one of the largest and most over-the-top awesome open-world games ever with Just Cause 2 and five years later, the long-awaited followup will be arriving on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2015. Just Cause 2 was one of our favorite games of 2010 and it had such an impact on the community that players modded the game to include a fully functional multiplayer system, one that’s available via Steam....

Mass Effect and Minecraft aren’t all that similar. When you look at their gameplay they have nothing in common, one being a first person survival crafting game, the other a third person action RPG space adventure. However if you look at it thematically, they are perhaps closer than first meets the eye with creation and world building being key components of both franchises. While Minecraft is a more literal interpretation that allows players to literally shape the world physically, Mass Effect is about building your own world through narrative, decision making and character interaction....

It’s been a while since THQ or 4A Games have shared any information on the upcoming Metro: Last Light. Those itching to crawl back into the Moscow subway system should be ecstatic to hear that the Metro website is counting down to a live-action short film that will premiere next week. Heading over to the official Metro: Last Light website redirects users to a new page, titled “Enter The Metro.” This site features an image comprised of eight lightbulbs, slowly counting down to the trailer’s premiere on May 24th, 2012....

As the year progresses, gamers have quickly learned that there are quite a few games to keep an eye on. With an ample amount of blockbuster titles still on the horizon, however, it’s still important to look back and see which games resonated with consumers. With that said, the top selling games for the month of April have been revealed and they should come as no surprise to gamers. According to the latest numbers release by NDP Group, Mortal Kombat X claimed the top spot as the best selling game for the month of April, with Grand Theft Auto 5 snagging second place on the charts....

It’s easy to knock a game for its lack of originality - but what if sticking to a successful format actually works? One only needs to take a quick glance at PAYDAY: The Heist and brush it off as “Left 4 Dead meets a generic heist film.” Though in this case, the issue here isn’t PAYDAY’s inability to hide its influences, it’s the fact that all of the great gameplay is hidden beneath some truly frustrating technical issues....

Nintendo’s Wii U console started off with a wealth of content, but the months that followed have been short on desired software for early adopters. One of the most highly anticipated third-party exclusives on the console, Rayman Legends, was scheduled to make a splash later this month, but Ubisoft has since confirmed that there’s been a change of plans — plans that may very well upset those who’ve been longing to play the game since the Wii U’s launch....

Between four episodes of The Wolf Among Us earlier in the year and Game of Thrones on the horizon, 2014 has been an excellent year for fans of Telltale Games — and that’s without mentioning the hotly anticipated Tales from the Borderlands. The first episode of the new series released this week, alongside a launch trailer that offers a peek into its new vision of Pandora. Set after the end of Borderlands 2, Tales from the Borderlands centres around co-protagonists Fiona and Rhys, an unlikely couple who are thrown together in the search for riches....

The battle royale concept has been moulded in almost every possible way, constantly bringing in fresh takes to the genre. Developer Team Grit is adding the Wild West into the mix with their newest battle royale game, Grit. Coming to PC via Early Access on Steam this Spring, players can get in on the action early as beta tests for the game will be available this weekend. In Grit, players will be facing off against one another in a 100-person battle royale set in the Wild West....

Generation IV of Pokemon introduced a lot of new powerful Pokemon to the scene. Many of the Pokemon from this generation were evolved forms of pre-existing Pokemon from the Kanto and Johto Regions, and it allowed these particular Pokemon families to reach new heights. It also had an abundance of Legendary Pokemon, which are usually the most powerful Pokemon in existence. Not all of the Sinnoh Region Pokemon made it into the Sword & Shield Pokedex, so not all of them have had a chance to try their hand in the current competitive metagame....
