Biomutant is not the biggest open-world game out there but it is still fairly generous with its content. The game’s main campaign is relatively linear and simple, but the expanse comes from everything else it has to offer. There are a handful of things in Biomutant the game doesn’t necessarily reveal outright. For instance, a lot of players go through the game without even discovering these mechanics. These highly missable things in Biomutant don’t exactly impact the story of the game as a whole, but a lot of these will make the gameplay more diverse and fluid....

Pokemon come in many shapes and sizes. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The true potential of a Pokemon can only really be appreciated when their full capabilities are put to the test in a multitude of scenarios. One needs to be challenged in order to prove their worth, and this is manyfold for a Pokemon’s trainer. Water Pokemon are the most numerous type in the franchise, so many in fact that a high percentage of them hardly get noticed for their true worth by most people....

In the early 1980s, video games were seen as mostly harmless. Arcade cabinets had increased in popularity since the 70s, with children to young adults visiting arcades to play Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and the like. It would be a massive understatement to say that Assassin’s Creed Unity under-performed last month, and has continued to be in the recovering phase of its post-launch process. Several patches and updates have been released by Ubisoft, which implemented fixes to improve overall performance and remove bugs, like the one that makes faces disappear. When the developer/publisher last discussed the upcoming update - the fourth patch, in fact - it said that most of the remaining fixes would be dealt with....

That massive 6.7 GB download that Ubisoft chose to delay because they wanted to make sure they got it right after the comedy of errors that gamers were subjected to at launch? Well, Xbox One owners are finding out the hard way that Ubisoft still has some work to do. It turns out that the patch on Xbox One, the fourth major one since Unity’s release, is re-downloading the entire 40 GB game instead of just the 6....

In the first year of the new console generation we’ve seen many of the most well-received games rereleased for the PS4 and Xbox One. Tomb Raider and The Last of Us have already received definitive new-gen editions less than two years after their initial launches and soon we’ll have GTA 5 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well. Although most games are being bundled up with DLC and other extras for new-gen consoles, the BioShock franchise is still wrapping things up on the old machines…...

Valve certainly has no shortage of gamers still coming back for Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source, which attracts both casual players and those who want to try and etch their name into the still-active professional gaming scene. Death. A character in culture that is both iconic and at the same time trivialized. Death is always with us, always watching. In Darksiders II, he will be always be kicking butt. Last week, THQ hosted a preview event in San Francisco at the Regency Center - where game journalists and other industry people were brought together to see a first look at gameplay for Darksiders II. At first glance, the venue could have been mistaken for an overly stylish area to hold a video game event - but the gothic feel of the Regency ballroom certainly does add much to the atmosphere of the game....

Following the dissolving of LucasArts and cancellation of several in-development Star Wars projects, the future of gaming in that galaxy far, far way has become increasingly clouded. Furthermore, while positive buzz continues to build among movie fans for the J.J. Abrams-led Star Wars Episode 7, game fans were dealt a divisive blow with the announcement that mega-publisher Electronic Arts will oversee all Star Wars-related video game projects. While some gamers remain optimistic that EA and a host of talented third-party developers will return Star Wars video gaming to its former glory (after a string of middle-of-the-road titles from the in-house LucasArts), for the time being there are very few concrete details about what to expect....

It’s easy to get swept away in the character reveals (ranging from Captain America to Loki to Groot), but a closer look at the announcement trailer shows off some of the new features and gameplay mechanics that the expansion will introduce, many of which were at the request of players of the original. Consumers who have already sunk significant hours and dollars into the core Disney Infinity game don’t have to worry - executive producer John Vignocchi has already confirmed that all components (bases, power discs, characters and saved content) from the original game will seamlessly carry over to the new world order of 2....

Fable: Legends was first announced with a cinematic trailer back in August 2013, and it soon became clear it was going to be taking a different path than the earlier single-player installments....

It’s been a long road from conception to completion for ArenaNet’s latest MMO, Guild Wars 2. After a five-year development period, the smash-hit online RPG was publicly released a little more than two weeks ago, to much applause. But despite all the planning, beta events, and server stress tests, ArenaNet couldn’t prepare for the onslaught of insatiable players, chomping at the bit to get on their favorite worlds. Citing server issues and crowded world areas, ArenaNet temporarily pulled the plug on digital sales until most folks had settled....

If the survival horror genre is to be believed, all mental asylums are grim, filthy, terrifying holes of torture and despair (or destined to eventually become them), and all the patients are maniacs that run around gibbering and violently attacking anyone that crosses their path. If survival horror fans were ever to be taken on a tour of a real mental hospital, we’d probably feel very let down by the lack of severed limbs and free-roaming psychopaths....

There comes a time in every ambitious MMO’s life to condense servers. And for Star Wars: The Old Republic, it seems that time has come. According to one particular subscriber’s calculations and in-depth examination, the average population on one of the game’s servers - at any one time - clocks in at 344 players. No doubt about it. Both literally and figuratively, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the biggest games of the year, and CD Projekt Red’s sprawling open-world RPG is capturing the hearts of both gamers and reviewers alike. Unfortunately, like any popular game, The Witcher 3 is also drawing its share of controversy, particularly with regard to the game’s inconsistent technical performance. While most reviews agree that The Witcher 3’s fluctuating frame rates and occasional performance hiccup don’t really damage the overall game, a small group of critical fans argue that The Witcher 3’s marketing materials were misleading....

As one might expect from a master thief, Garrett of the Thief series has a number of well-honed skills that include lock-picking, hiding in shadows, sneaking around quietly, firing different types of arrows with precision and zooming in on interesting things with his mechanical eye. Swordplay and fist-fighting, however, are not among his strengths and if faced with an angry guard his best option is usually to run away. Many fans have been regarding Eidos-Montréal’s upcoming reboot of the series with an air of suspicion and have been upset by the new elements being introduced to Garrett’s world, such as the change of setting from a medieval period to something more Victorian, the change of voice actor for Garrett and the introduction of more action-oriented mechanics like takedowns....

With the PlayStation 5 due to be released in late 2020, it’s easy to forget that the PlayStation 2 launched a little under twenty years ago in October 2000. The console became the best selling games machine in the world outselling the likes of the Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and the Sega Dreamcast. The PlayStation 2’s success has always boiled down having a great range of games with a variety of choices....

Differing from handhelds, video game consoles have the potential to display better graphics on a larger screen. Console games use a controller instead of a small amount of buttons like the Game Boy.
