In fact, the phenomenon is so prevalent that Hajime Tabata, the co-director of Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy XV, is surmising that the trend is forcing the Japanese gaming market so much so that eventually handheld and smartphone gaming could lead to the end of console gaming in Japan. While many current generation gamers will lament such a sharp shift in focus, game developers like Blizzard are hedging their bets with lucrative free-to-play titles like Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft....

A few weeks ago, Game Rant visited with the Ubisoft Montpellier development team to preview the new campaign and game modes of Rayman Legends, the anticipated follow-up to Rayman Origins. Just yesterday Bethesda said there would be news of upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim DLC and intrepid fans of the game have already discovered that the yet-to-be-announced DLC seems to include two things: snow elves, and crossbows. While there’s also a bunch of mysterious animations with the acronym ‘RF’, this is a near-affirmative confirmation of what the Skyrim DLC will likely entail. Looking through the game files of the latest patch update, a user on the Bethesda forums discovered the revealingly-titled animation codes....

Square Enix released the second beta for Marvel’s Avengers on August 14, 2020. Even though the game definitely had some bugs that needed attending to, the substantially sized beta showed a lot of confidence from the developers at Crystal Dynamics in their product. There was a surprisingly deep amount of content and references for players to discover. The game gave fans of the Marvel Universe a taste of things to come ,with tons of references to the events of the films, cartoons, and of course, the comics....

Introduced in Generation III, Pokemon abilities provide each Pokemon with a little extra oomph that helps make them more unique. While many newer players tend to focus on which moves a given Pokemon knows, Pokemon abilities can be integral to giving a Pokemon an added edge. While there are many blatantly excellent abilities such as Levitate that provide immunity to ground type attacks and Intimidate which can lower an opposing Pokemon’s attack stat without using a move, there are lesser-known abilities that can be much more useful than a player may expect....

To say that the games that are a part of The Dark Pictures saga are a little odd would be an understatement. From wendigos to witches, it almost seems like everything goes with these games. This game is fantastic on so many levels. It may be smaller than its predecessor, but it is equally as soulful and engaging. Evangelion packs in a lot of themes and caters to a bunch of different tastes, which is probably why it has sustained its popularity for so many years. Whether you enjoy it on a thematic level, or purely for stylistic purposes, the show will leave an impression on you....

Eve Online is one of the oldest and most complex MMORPGs out there. The sheer amount of things players can do and experience is staggering. Between the PvP fights, large-scale crafting, exploring, mining, and other activities, there is no shortage of things to do and see. Yet for some players, there may be aspects of the game that aren’t as appealing. There may also be bitter veterans who need a break and would like to try another game that still retains the Eve Online feel....

The NES and its incredible library of games changed console gaming forever. It’s impossible to know what would have happened if the NES had never come along, but it’s relatively easy to draw a line from so many of the best NES titles to where we are now. However, if you spend a little more time looking through the NES library, you may find quite a few titles that feel…out of place....
