Mystery novelist Alan Wake is making his return to the video game space in a new title, but it, unfortunately, is not a sequel to last year’s cult hit appropriately titled Alan Wake. As it turns out, this title, which will be detailed in greater depth in the coming days, will be an XBLA-only game that is not a direct sequel to Alan Wake. There have been a handful of rumors thus far that have suggested a Alan Wake offshoot/sequel is in the works, but this news confirms it....

As BioShock Infinite fans prepare for what could be the entire franchise’s end, there is still plenty more work to be done on developer Irrational Games’ part. Moreover, with the highly anticipated Burial at Sea: Episode Two DLC slated to hit in a little over a month, it is up to Irrational to set the scene for the monumental journey ahead. While Irrational has already teased the early moments of Burial at Sea: Episode 2, and revealed one of the concluding chapter’s big twists, there is apparently a lot more left to cover....

Although we still don’t have a release date for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s first DLC map pack, titled Havoc, players can get their hands on an exclusive DLC weapon starting today. However, they will have to invest in the entire future of Advanced Warfare’s DLC by purchasing the Season Pass to get the weapon before anyone else. That being said, this DLC weapon actually looks like something worth owning. Dubbed the AE4 Directed Energy Assault Rifle, this new machine gun is the closest thing we’ve seen to a realistic laser gun in a Call of Duty title....

DC Comics has informed retailers that its Wonder Woman 1984 variant covers are being postponed until 2021. The variants had been scheduled to coincide with the Christmas day release of Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman sequel.g Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. had already rescheduled the theatrical release of Wonder Woman 1984 twice before settling on a June 2020 date. However, the lockdown measures that were taken to slow the spread of the virus meant movie theaters would have to close for an undetermined period of time, requiring the studio to once again postpone the Wonder Woman sequel’s release date....

While the release of Company of Heroes 2 didn’t come as early as most predicted, Relic Entertainment has produced a polished real-time strategy title which does a great job at displaying the chaos and hazards of warfare. Company of Heroes 2 isn’t a perfect game, but both its single and multi-player modes ultimately leave those looking for an entertaining strategy game very happy. It’s very similar to the original title, but the improvements made since (and previewed at E3) allow for a more matured, fleshed-out and entertaining strategy experience....

After its reveal as a co-op-centric shooter during E3 2012, Dead Space 3 – despite being the next sequel in one of the best-received survival horror franchises of this generation – has quite a bit to prove when it releases on Feburary 5. The mechanic adds a whole new layer to Dead Space’s gameplay – one that some fans have argued contradicts an axiom so fundamental to its genre: isolation....

With only a few weeks to go until Bungie unleashes their first DLC expansion for Destiny, the developer has kicked the promotional tour for said post-launch content in high gear. So far, they have detailed the game’s new story missions, strikes, and raids, while also teasing new gameplay mechanics and a ton of new gear. Speaking of that gear, Bungie has unveiled a new video that focuses on just a few of the weapons and armor items that are packaged in The Dark Below....

Collector’s Editions have become a facet of the gaming industry. Loyal fans, who are happily anticipating the release of blockbuster titles, usually don’t have a problem ponying up a little extra cash to score the sweet exclusive innards of a collector’s edition, so companies publish limited edition versions of their game for an increased price. It works well for both sides of the fence, and today Ubisoft announced that it will be doing exactly that with Far Cry 3....

Although Square Enix fans will still have to wait until January for the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 in North America, the title has already enjoyed its first week of release in Japan. Unfortunately that first week may just have shown how far the series has fallen. According to sales numbers, Final Fantasy XIII-2 sold about a third as many units as its predecessor did in its first week of release....

Buy in early and you might find yourself at the epicenter of an exciting title, but buy in late and you could just save yourself a whole heap of cash. Although Heroes of the Storm only officially launched last week, many gamers have already invested more than a year in the arena brawler thanks to a long and productive alpha and beta test. Testers have seen fighters nerfed, powered up, and tweaks to all the maps, and that is sure to be just the start of things as the MOBA continues to grow. Looking to rejuvenate their image by calling upon the ancient spirits of hit 1990s titles, Rare seems to have come a long way in conjuring up the remake to its classic Super Nintendo fighting game, Killer Instinct. Like NetherRealm Studios have done with its legendary Mortal Kombat reboot, Microsoft Studios aims to make a killing for Xbox One sales by bringing an infamous fighting classic to a new generation. There has already been some speculation as to Microsoft’s pricing plan for the upcoming Xbox One launch title....

Mass Effect 3’s release is closing in - after earning top spot in Game Rant’s most anticipated games list two years in a row - and the various tie-in items accompanying the game are starting to emerge. There’s a new novel on the way, offering additional back-story to the Mass Effect universe. Previous ME books were written by BioWare’s own Drew Karpyshyn but someone else takes the reins for the upcoming release....

When Microsoft announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo fans were ecstatic. The Master Chief Collection would allow them to play several of Xbox’s most iconic games on Xbox One, where they’d be given a visual upgrade. It would also give fans something to play until Halo 5: Guardians is released later this year. Sadly, the release of the Master Chief Collection didn’t go as expected. At launch, the games were hit with matchmaking issues that made it incredibly difficult for players to join an online lobby....

Earlier this year, less than six months ago, Microsoft attempted to revive the previously canceled Flight Simulator franchise with the free-to-play Microsoft Flight on the Games for Windows platform. The game launched with one major location and two airplanes, with additional planes available through (expensive) DLC. As we’ve learned today, the Microsoft Flight pricing model and marketing ultimately failed and Microsoft has put an end to further development. And with that, the Flight Simulator franchise is again, no more....

After years spent languishing in sub-par projects, Spyro the Dragon came back in a big and unexpected way at the tail end of 2011. Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure, which encompasses both a video game and a line of “toys with brains,” proved to be an enormous success for publisher Activision - it was the single best selling game from January through April of this year, and over 30 million Skylanders toys had been sold by March 31st, 2012....

Dawnguard, the first and highly anticipated piece of downloadable content for Bethesda’s Skyrim, is now available for the PC. The news was revealed at QuakeCon 2012, and ends weeks of questions in regards to the expansion’s PC release. Players will now be able to choose a side in the war between the vampire lords and the titular Dawnguard, a group of vampire hunters bequeathed with a special set of skills and weapons....

The developers over at Bethesda made their dedication clear a long time ago, stating that nothing would keep The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from releasing on November 11, 2011. And while many doubted that a fantasy RPG would be a true threat to the gaming juggernaut that is Call of Duty, with its latest Modern Warfare 3 releasing just a few days before, fans knew the truth. It seems that PC fans weren’t swayed by the star-studded advertising surrounding MW3, as concurrent Steam users for Skyrim totaled over 230,000 in the first 24 hours of release, obliterating the 80,000 enjoyed by the military shooter....

If there’s one thing that the long lists of successful and failed game launches makes clear, it’s that money follows where players are most excited. The developers of Star Wars: The Old Republic have given plenty of details on the player classes that their newest MMO will offer, but the newest trailer is all about the action. Players will have to choose sides in the war between the Sith and Jedi, but the latest ‘Join The Fight’ trailer shows that every type of player will get the chance to deal out damage in spectacular fashion....

Good news for Superman fans: even though the silver screen version of the character is still a question mark due to the uncertain nature of the DC Cinematic Universe, there’s still at least one Man of Steel still getting his due. The CW continues on with its own DC universe of shows and their latest entry, Superman and Lois will be getting a second season. This is pretty good news for the fledgling superhero show, considering that the renewal comes after only one episode of the first season has aired....
