What more is there to say about the Saints Row franchise? To be honest, after Saints Row: The Third there isn’t much more developer Volition needs to say or do anyways, besides put out more games. They clearly have discovered Saints Row’s identity, and things can only get better from there. The first phase in Saints Row’s inevitable transformation into tongue-in-cheek blockbuster series starts with Saints Row 4, which we had a chance to play at E3 2013....

If GoldenEye 007 had been the only James Bond game ever produced, it would’ve been enough to cement Bond’s legacy as a classic video game character. Over the past sixty years, Ian Fleming’s super-spy has conquered both the printed page and the silver screen, but for gamers of a certain age (including some famous ones) the Nintendo 64 shooter remains the definitive Bond experience. During the late 90s, it didn’t matter if players were Bond fans, or even any good at first-person shooters....

Oculus VR, the Kickstarter-backed spearhead of the resurgence of virtual reality headsets and technology, is now owned by Facebook and the $2 billion acquisition has been the talk of the industry since the announcement was made last week. Movies have been delayed, sporting events have been canceled, and game developers are working from home as everyone waits to see how long the situation will last. The impact of the coronavirus will likely be felt even a year from now, as a new report indicates that there is a strong possibility that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be delayed due to the virus....

People from all walks of life use Twitter to lash out at the world — but it seems that video game industry personalities are particularly inclined to tweet out a tirade. The latest such rant comes from Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada, who was less than pleased with the way that the newly announced character Lucky Chloe was received online. A group of Tekken fans across the internet were quick to deride Chloe’s design; among a rash of negative comments in a NeoGAF forum thread, one user described it as ‘a little lazy’, while another asked ‘what is that abomination’....

With only about a month until the highly anticipated title was slated to release, Ubisoft sent shockwaves through the gaming community when they announced Watch_Dogs was delayed until Spring 2014. However, in addition to that very disappointing announcement, they also revealed that another of their titles, The Crew, had been pushed back. It’s not unheard of for Ubisoft to announce a delay for one of their upcoming titles — practically every non-Assassin’s Creed Ubi release has been delayed — but two games at the same time suggests something is brewing at the publisher....

Intrepid World of Warcraft adventurers are finally getting their chance to travel to the long lost continent of Pandaria in the newest expansion for the wildly popular MMO. Unveiled during last year’s BlizzCon, Mists of Pandaria promises to take players both new and old on tons of new quests, give them access to a completely new race (the Pandaren), allow them to play as a new monk class, and raises the level cap to 90....

At a time where open-world adventures are dominating the gaming industry, with exploration and politicking becoming almost ever-present mechanics, it can be tough to find games that offer good old-fashioned action-heavy combat. PlatinumGames offered this experience to players in 2009 with the first of two Bayonetta titles. Over 10 years since its release, Bayonetta is recognized as one of modern gaming’s best hack and slash titles; while its sequel, Bayonetta 2, is considered by some to even better than its predecessor, exemplified by its huge 92 Metascore and Overall Best Game award from Destructoid....

Announced during the most recent Nintendo Direct, Triangle Strategy is an upcoming tactical JRPG being developed by Square Enix. Though the game has a visual style similar to that of Octopath Traveler, the game’s gameplay appears to be more akin to that of games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Fire Emblem. From the single trailer shown, the game appears to be putting an emphasis on player choice, but the game’s development is still quite underway, and Triangle Strategy is currently a working title....

CD Projekt Red was a company that most people considered to be one of the greatest AAA studios of all time, and it’s easy to see why this was the case at one point — the company started from exceedingly humble beginnings in the form of the very first Witcher title, a game that showed a ton of promise but not really a ton of polish. So, to see such a fledgling game studio end up wowing fans all over the globe with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was an extremely cathartic moment for most gamers in general....

Fortnite streamer Peter “Rolly Ranchers” Varady, whose YouTube channel recently spiked from less than 1,000 subscribers to over 120,000 thanks to an endorsement by popular YouTuber Cizzorz, has found himself the latest victim of the incredibly dangerous swatting “prank.” This past Sunday, Varady’s Fortnite stream was interrupted when police showed up at his door. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Batman is as much defined by the villains he faces as his personal tragedies. With theatricality the lasting trademark of his enemies, many of his battles play out in a manner similar to classic drama, with over the top action and unrealistic characters. But where there’s great drama, there’s usually great romance, and Batman: Arkham City will be no exception. The Dark Knight’s most complicated foil, Catwoman, will be joining him in the events of Arkham City, and the game’s writer has now explained that the depiction of the two will be as faithful to the comic books as fans would hope....

As first person shooters continue to adapt to the whims of the modern gamer, many of them have begun to implement some sort of stat-tracking feature that allows gamers to look at every minute detail from all of their online exploits. Some might be charging for this feature, or at least for some part of it, but Battlefield 3 is offering their stat-tracking free of charge, at least as long as you pay for the online pass we’d imagine....

Along with a new campaign, (hopefully) improved multiplayer, and a new co-op mode called Strike Force, Treyarch’s next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 2, brings the fan-favorite zombie mode back into the mix. While the zombies mode has been pretty straight forward since World at War, Black Ops 2 is attempting some pretty revolutionary things with the mode. It’s not outright explained in the debut trailer above — merely suggested by it — but the new zombie mode for Black Ops 2 will feature a story-based campaign called Tranzit....
