Hackers have infiltrated EA and swiped several source codes and development tools, including the source code of FIFA 21 and its matchmaking server, and the code for the Frostbite engine. This powers games like Battlefield, Star Wars: Squadrons, and FIFA itself. In total, 780GB of data was stolen in the recent attack. This was first discovered by Motherboard, the tech vertical for Vice, whose source had access to a private forum the hackers used to discuss the stolen code....

After an Epic Games’ PAX East panel consisting of Epic president Mike Capps and design director Cliff Bleszinski revealed their plans for a PC-exclusive title, the near-spontaneous reaction was to ask what the title was. Unfortunately, it turned out that Cliffy B and Mikey C weren’t ready to divulge that information just yet – but the speculation continued unencumbered. Epic made no mention of whether or not the title was an unannounced IP, and so, with the upcoming Infinity Blade: Dungeons locked in as an iOS release, it wasn’t long before the developer’s recently-revealed Fortnite was brought up for discussion....

Interactive and developer NetherRealm Studios have been steadily releasing trailers for Mortal Kombat X, detailing combat systems and character returns, but today the pair has seen fit to finally reveal the game’s release date. Those of you expecting an early 2015 date are in luck, as the game is officially set to release worldwide on April 14, 2015. A little closer to the middle of the year, but not too far away....

It might be the end of the relationship between legendary game designer Hideo Kojima and his long-time publisher, Konami, but it’s not the end of Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 5. According to many sources, the Metal Gear sequel is still in development, although Kojima’s level of involvement remains a mystery. Silent Hills, Kojima’s collaboration with Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro, wasn’t so lucky. After leaving fans hanging for a couple of weeks, Konami cancelled the title....

As a huge wrestling fan, mixed martial arts and organizations such as the UFC have always appealed to me. The worlds are pretty closely linked (see Brock Lesnar in WWE 12), but I’ve never really been a fan of the UFC video games because, often, they’re a little too complex to pick-up and play. Like any RPG, Skyrim asks the player to make choices that impact the story and the world. They can make friends or enemies with NPCs, they pick sides in several questlines. The Dragonborn can choose to be cruel or merciful, decide what kind of character to play. However, several choices that the player can make would seem to have greater implications than they do within the game. Furthermore, some quests that should have follow-up objectives simply leave loose ends hanging....

Sony did fans a bad one recently by announcing the closure of three consoles’ stores. This summer, the PSP, PS3, and PS Vita are all losing the ability to sell games digitally. Losing one of these is bad enough, but all three in such a short timespan is a brutal loss. At least there is still time to pick up some of the best games on each console before the opportunity passes....
